Avatar f tn s an intense pain centered in my knee. It is in the front of my leg and in the soft points on my knee. Sometimes in the back but not so often. Sometimes it's in my calf on the back. It makes me limp and have to sit down pretty often. I cannot spend much time on my feet or else my feet fall asleep. I had Xrays and nothing showed up. My knee does not have fluid. That's why it gets swollen, right? My legs have no fractrures (I had fallen on a cement pad 3 years ago).
Avatar f tn now that ive lost 82 lbs, im having more knee pain than before the surgery. I would occasionally have knee pain when I was extremely overweight whenever going up & down stairs. Now that I ve lost the weight, my knees hurt more often & I have to be careful when stepping up or down stairs, or bending over to pick something up off the floor. Is this because im not working out at all? Im not physically active at all & im wodering if this knee pain is because ive lost a lot of muscle?
Avatar m tn The pain is constant and specially in the area behind my knee, and on thighs. And now the pain has again expanded to the ankle area (the joint between feet and leg). I have tried doing exercises and such activities, and had some pain killer medicines as well, but the pain has not decreased. The pain especially increases during nights. I searched for the pain over the internet, but could not find any clue regarding the pain. So please help me with the pain. Thank you in advance.
1310435 tn?1273598077 Hi, I have PCOS and have had it for over 20 years, I also have severe PMT and I am on PROSTAP, over the last few months I have joint pain in my legs all day and at night, it is so annoying and painful, I feel tired at work and I have quite an active job, i am not lazy in any shape or form but it is really getting me down and I have been advised to lose weight, however, I find it very difficult as I also have an arthritic knee which needs surgery to a new knee, although, I can deal with the pain
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your reply and your blessing also. I am 5'4 and 149lbs. so I'm not terribly overweight although I have gained about 20 lbs. in the past six months or so. This is due to having a couple of surgeries and alot less exercise. That probably contributes to the knee pain since I'm not used to being this heavy. I do have alot more pain for about four days before I start every month. Can hormones make something like this worse?
Avatar f tn Hi I’m 37 female overweight to start. My left leg keeps getting pain. Hurts to stretch. Google tells me it’s a clot so I’m freaking out but trying to talk myself off the ledge. Stretching hurts. Walking hurts at first but then feels better. Any idea what that is and how to make it better ? It’s my calf to behind my knee one leg.
Avatar m tn Hello Bubbagolf, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I'm glad that you found us but sorry to hear about your knee pain and problems following your TKP. I agree with the member that said your surgeon is not correct. It use to be that they would not do a TKP on someone that was over weight. There may still be some surgeons out there that hold to that old concept. I know a number of ppl that have had this surgery that are more than just a few pounds over weight and all have been successful.
Avatar f tn ll usually last a few days and go away. sometimes it is accompanied by knee pain (i dislocated my knee cap in high school about 17 yrs ago) And sometimes there is a radiating feeling in my inner thigh. sometimes I have all these symptoms at once or sometimes 1 or 2. a bit before it all started happening I noticed the veins behind my need were getting darker but not bulging. none of the areas feel warm and no redness. on the inside of both knees I have a large cluster of spider veins.
Avatar m tn The pain occurs directly behind her left knee, and sometimes on the front left side of the knee. I can easily feel a pop in the front left side of the knee when her leg is extended. When she went to physical therapy, the physical therapist pressed on her knee several times in different locations and also extended and contracted her leg to see if there was any pain, but she felt no pain. Her physical therapist said that her mechanics are off.
Avatar m tn ve started getting a slight aching pain in my right knee. My doctor said to get better shoes with strong support and cushioning and lose weight it will get better, the shoes has helped but the pain its still there when l walk and put weight on my foot and knee. l am OK walking short disatances , but it gets painful if l walk longer then 15 minutes . l know losing weight is the solution but its difficult as l cant do much walking but l am on a diet and slowly losing weight but it takes time.
Avatar m tn I'm 32 and I've never had any sort of leg, knee, or joint problem. Lately I've noticed that when I plant my left foot and pivot on it to turn my body to the right, my left knee makes a popping sound. In the last few days I've noticed that I can feel something move in the same knee when I walk down stairs. It feels like it's located to the left (outside) of the center of the knee. The right knee doesn't have any issues.
Avatar f tn I also note that it happens after working all day in the hospital. Let me ask you this without insulting you, are you at all overweight?
Avatar f tn i am 53 years old. i had surgery for torn meniscus in left knee on 10/13/2007, and i have been in pain since. i am currently receiving my 3rd round of synvisc. i have had 3 or 4 cortisone injections, they seemed to be helping but the times in between have gotten shorter. my dr. keeps telling me i'm too young for knee replacement. he tells me it's arthritis, i can't believe it. i am not overweight (147 lbs.), however, before the surgery i weighed 128 lbs.
Avatar f tn t smoke, rarely drink. During the night and when I first wake up, I am experiencing excruciating bilateral knee pain. I noticed the pain about 4 months ago and it is worsening. I know it sounds crazy but I have to pull myself up, using the wall and toilet with my arms, to get up from the toilet when I get up to urinate in the night. As the day progresses, the pain is still there but not as intense as during the night. My knees are also swollen at all times, L>R. I walk for exercise.
Avatar m tn ve noticed that when I plant my left foot and pivot on it to turn my body to the right, my left knee makes a popping sound. For a few days I could feel something move in the same knee when I would walk down stairs. It felt like it was located to the left (outside) of the center of the knee. That went away. The right knee doesn't have any issues. There is no pain, tenderness, or swelling involved at all. Does this sound like it could be osteoarthritis?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with myelgia paresthetica in my left leg over a month ago. This has virtually calmed down with added medication to the ones I'm already taking. (sertraline for depression, co-dydramol for chronic pain from car accident, nortryptiline as a muscle relaxant to help me sleep... and now diclofenac sodium and omeprazole). I have though had an adverse reaction the diclofenac (diarrhoea) and my doc has changed this to indomethacin in the last 2 days.
572021 tn?1330905654 My daughter (17) has been complaining of sharp knee pain in the back of her knee that has been keeping her awake for the last few nights. She says it is severe and does not respond to ibuprofen or any other medications that she has tried. She has been running me to doctors to months also suffering from upper right quadrant pain which cannot seem to be diagnosed.
Avatar n tn I was required to wear a brace for a long time and afterwards I noticed there was a huge dent in my thigh and a small lump. I am overweight and have extremely fatty thighs and it seemed like it only affected that fatty part of my leg. The muscle seemed ok. They told me they took out some of my muscle from my thigh to reconstruct my ligaments so I just thought it was fat damage because of that. Recently though, it's starting to bother me a little bit.
Avatar f tn I know what you are saying about weight, knees etc and of course it all makes sense and I really appreciate your reply. I was in tears last night because of this pain, and it is so tender. This morning I have pain starting in one of my wrists. I do feel that I will have to return to the Drs, which I hate doing. I am starting a weight loss programme so I hope that it does help with this particular pain. Watch this space as they say. Thank you again for your advice, much appreciated.
