Avatar m tn Hello, I'm an 19 year old male and since the last week of August, I've had a sharp pain in my knee. It's occurs in my left knee, on the inside. It's very near to the platella, but I don't know if it's the tibia or the fibula. It's the bone that kind of slightly juts out. Anyways, it hurts to bend the knee and walking up and down stairs causes slight pain as well. Any insight on the problem is appreciated. Thanks for your time!
Avatar n tn I am 15 years old and I don't do sports, but sometimes all of a sudden I will get this bad pain in my knee and lower leg by the ankles. I don't know what to do about it but take ibuprofen. Should I be worried?
Avatar m tn -) The old age pain was fixed by getting a new hip. The MS pain is not so easy to fix. I don't know whether this is good news or bad, but MS pain doesn't jump around. The nature of MS is that it attacks individual locations in the central nervous system, rather than systemically attacking the entire central nervous system. As such, the neuropathic pain caused by MS tends to be related to the specific nerve pathway that controls its pain center. In my case it's my left foot.
Avatar f tn I am 43 years old. I had knee surgery for a torn meniscus in 2003. Last year on Thanksgiving Day I stepped off my porch and hurt my knee again. After having a mri my dr said he couldnt see anything but the pain kept getting worse and decided to scope my knee. He discovered that I had no cartlige and it was completely eaten up with arthritis among other things. I was told I needed a knee replacement but didnt want to do it at my age.
3201003 tn?1345349318 my 6 yr old cries every night with knee pain but the knee dr and regular dr says she is ok she has been hurting since she was able to walk about 10 months old i dont know wat to do can you help me please
Avatar m tn Since then I have still been in pain, knee is catching and locking, and and limp all the time. My right knee is now hurting from compensating for the left knee. I went for another MRI last Wed. and it showas as I said another ter of the posterior horn medial meniscus at the inferior meniscal surface, and says "unchanged from the 4/21/10 MRI" Does this mean they missed a tear then or is this a retear?? The conservative treatment hasn't worked.
Avatar f tn My first knee replacement was in 2002. Second one was in 2003 (on the other knee). For a number of years now I have had pain in my "knees". Even the tissue surrounding them. I've noticed that I can hear the prosthesis move when I move my leg. I swing my legs and they make a funny noise. Today I went to an orthopaedic surgeon about another (unrelated) problem and asked him about the pain in my knees.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 8 years old and has had popping in her knee for a few years. When it first started it was very random and not often. We thought maybe growing pains, but it was not really an issue. She didn’t have any pain or swelling associated with it and was keeping to her regular activities. Then we noticed that not only did it not go away it was becoming more frequent (still no pain) so we went to see the doctor who said everything was fine. We came home after and kept an eye on it.
Avatar f tn The work was done over a week ago. Since Friday I have had very bad pain in my knees. Tried Advil and ice packs. No swelling. I have had problems with my knees and my back previously. What do you think just old age I am 63.
Avatar f tn I suffer from chronic knee pain. I am 16 years old (nearly 17) I have tried lots of things which are physiotherapy, exercise, ice, been visiting an exercise physiologist, visited a podiatrist and received orthotics. Found out that these orthotics didn't work, so got new orthotics. However I still get chronic knee pain. Currently I would say that it is 7.5/10. I am sick of this. hat can i do?
Avatar m tn When I started reading your message I imagined that you were a fat old lady. What a shock when I got to the bottom to find that you are only 15 years of age. The crunching and popping that you hear is called crepitus. I agree with the others that you do need to go and see your doctor, possibly he may send your for xrays to find what is going on with your knees.
Avatar f tn But, I got permanent swelling from last 3 weeks and pain also. Pain is in my lower and upper part of knee. I tried cooling and hot cycle belt of wrap but still pain exists. This all started from nov 07. I never had injury with my knees. Completed my blood test and routine check up in January 08 but everything is normal. I never had consultation with my knees.

Avatar m tn It does not hurt, but it is uncomfortable and my knee feels a little weak (although this may be in my head). It does not seem to be getting better or worse since I noticed it. I am a 26-year-old man and lead an active lifestyle mostly by exercising in the gym and walking most places (in fact I had done an intense leg workout the day before hiking). Although I sit for long stretches as part of my work. Should I be worried about this or can it go away by itself? Thank you!
Avatar m tn Thank you Doctors for your valuable inputs. My pain in the knee is manageable and just inconvenience while walking . I am still in my late 30's and no other complaints so far. I am keen to follow non surgical ways but Doctor here told me that if I delay in surgery, there is a huge risk of ortheritis. its concerning me a lot as I had never been to any surgery so far in my life.
Avatar f tn However from the past few months I am experiencing pain in my knee whenever I bend it. It is not a continuous pain but its like a shooting pain when I bend my leg (like in the bathroom or climbing stairs etc). I mentioned this to my Dr and she checked and said the ligaments are perfect and there is no swelling. But I want to know what this pain is if everything is perfect. I am 32 yrs old and it is getting hard for me to sit on the floor or get up. This is obviously not normal.
Avatar f tn I had some mild pain in the calf of my left leg. My doctor said it is not a clot. The pain has gotten extensively worse now affecting the knee. I went back to doctor and the doctor said it is arthritis of the knee and that, at this point, no tests were necessary. Well, in spite of anti-inflammatory meds, I cannot put my full weight down on my leg without pain that seems more concentrated directly under the knee. I am walking around limping.
Avatar n tn After a year and half of not having full use of my leg and severe hip pain due to all my weight shifting on one side because I can not bend my leg it has now caused severe pain in my hip and both legs and lower back. I was inquiring about having a total knee replacement, I was told at the time of the fusion that because of my age I was ot eligible for a total knee replacement. I am curious to know if anyone has had a replacement after having a fusion?
Avatar n tn I am 21 years old, and I play volleyball for about 10 years. Semi-pro, but very intensive trainings, also at summer beach volley... What also might be good to say, since I was a child I could (and still can) jump very high about a meter vertically. A few months ago, I started to have back pain, in my lower spine, and horrible knee pain.
Avatar m tn m wondering at what age can ligament damage happen and has anyone had a child with a knee injury...a similiar one?
2068034 tn?1331246788 s 1) forget they never have had the surgery and know what it feels like 2) forget as we age tolerance for pain decreases 3) success for increased activity and strength training equals pain relief and 4) they work for us and are replaceable. This is one time in your lives to stand up and make that call instead of suffering the rest of your life (and for what?
Avatar m tn I have had pain behind my knee for almost a year now. I had a meniscal tear taken care of last June and I was told it would also take care of the ganglion cyst that had developed. 6 weeks after the surgery I was still having the pain and discomfort behind my knee. I experience increased tightness and pain with exercise....the more I use it the less I am able to do. Even walking causes discomfort. I am not able to pick up my foot and move it back as if trying to touch my butt with my foot.
Avatar n tn I'm a 57 y/o female, weight is 225. I had a pre-op ekg for minor surgery on my knee. The EKG came back as abnormal, possible inferior wall infarct, age-untermined. Surgery has been cancelled because of this report. I have a history of high blood pressure which is normally in control with my medications. I don't recall ever having any type of serious chest pain in the past.
Avatar m tn I had a meniscus injury almost 2years ago a tear in left knee due to gym exercise while doing thighs exercise and from that time I was exercising my legs and their was no more pain after nearly 8 month , just yesterday I did the same movement once again and I hearted a pop in the same knee and a little pain with a bending movement in the same place after examining it by my self by pressing on the spot is it possible that the tear had happened once again ...
