2121656 tn?1395674749 Hyperextension refers to a state of over-movement of the legs towards the front towards the knee cap (over-unfolding on the knee joint). This may not necessarily be caused by an injury and aside non-traumatic fractures/ dislocations, could also result from connective tissue disorders, bone abnormalities etc. I would suggest considering an evaluation by an orthopedician or a sports medicine specialist for a detailed evaluation and suggestion of an appropriate management plan.
233622 tn?1279334905 I went through my first pair of SMO's in 4 weeks because of hyperextension. They had to put me in a different style of AFO. Anyone have significant hyperextension problems? Bad enough to ruin a new pair of AFO's in a month?
Avatar m tn Triple arthrodesis with tendon transfer of foot performed as a consequence of polio. Calf muscles power 0. Knee going into hyperextension due to weak knee quadriceps. Hip extensors good. Current issue: Since around past 1 month, unable to walk properly/take proper weight on area where the heel meets the achilles tendon. There is bearable pain alongwith little burning sensation in this area. There is no swelling. When calf muscles are sqeezed, foot passively reacts downwards.
Avatar f tn t need the brace all the time, but only when he is doing activities that stress the knee. The brace prevents hyperextension of that knee joint and prevents further injury. Please note, I am not a doctor and am not offering medical advice, but only my personal opinion. Please consult your doctor if you have questions about treatment or care. Best wishes for a fast recovery.
Avatar f tn UPDATE ~ received X-today, but it's unlikely anything will show up. I feel it's soft tissue damage. At least she confirmed swelling, and the blood pooling in my ankle, though it's not as bad as the 1st week of injury. Next will be an MRI after results are sent to her. She gave me a script for Celebrex because I can't tolerate most NSAID's. Another question?? I have no back pain, could this possibly be sciatic nerve pain.
Avatar m tn After the yawn occurred, I experienced massive head pain. The pain did not stop, and has continued threw the week. And I also have experienced the neck pain every so often. But now, after over talking/volunteering, I'm experiencing the pain non stop, And my head hurts quite a lot. Also when I lay my head down I can feel a very hard beat in my head. I feel the pain also moves to my teeth, and even down my chest. I'm very worried to what this might be.
Avatar m tn Hyperextension knee injuries can be trcky. Damage can include injury to the patella-femoral joint, sprain of the cruciate ligaments, or a bone bruise of either the tibia or femur. Essentially it can be just about anything. From your history, I get a sense that this is an injury to the patella-femoral joint, either the cartilage on the back of the kneecap, or perhaps to the patella tendon.
Avatar m tn In general, RA patients with elbow involvement tend to have *flexion* deformities, which means they can't extend their elbow joints all the way. Just to throw something out there - has the rheumatologist discussed the possibility of Marfan's syndrome? Joint hyperextension and overall joint pain is one of the symptoms. This is a genetically passed-on disease that tends to run in certain populations, like the Cajun community along the U.S. Gulf coast.
Avatar f tn Also, the back of my hand and palm swell when I use them for a period of time. The pain in my hand is about a 6 on pain scale. I have been to the Dr. twice now. I ice it and massage it as best I can tolerate. I also can't make a fist. It feels like something is gonna pop in the joints and the skin looks and feels like it will split open. If I lay my hand on a flat surface my Pointer finger and palm won't touch the surface of the table. Am I nuts or could something be really wrong.
Avatar f tn He also has abnormally long, thin arms and increased hyperextension in the arms. He is struggling academically. Can anyone adviseme as to what this could be? a syndrome? a mild dystonia? a tic? any advice is appreciated.
233622 tn?1279334905 s and took them off to see if that would help but my legs are all over the place with knee hyperextension. My thighs wear out so quickly now. That is new in the last 3 weeks. So is the tail bone pain I am having. Is that an MS thing?
Avatar n tn Basically, I want to find out what is the issue, why it persists and what to do about it. I have pain across my belt line on my back. I also have pain that simulates the images I have seen of some nerve and reaches around my hip area ending in front at my groin. So it wraps around the back side of my hips and ends at the front at my hip joint. Additionally, my spine and hips pop constantly and my pain is generally relived by the popping.
1961313 tn?1326290364 I have problems with my knees, just general stiffness-but one day I had to get down on my right knee and the pain was extreme,it wasn't necessarily in the knee but to the right side of the knee,it felt like the skin was splitting into,I look and the skin looked fine,so I don't know if it's the tendon or the muscle what ever it is,is very painful,in fact I can't get down on my knees any longer
Avatar n tn Hello sarabear and welcome to the Pain Forum: I think what you're experiencing is called Runner's Knee (Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome) The knee is a complex joint. It includes the articulation between the tibia and femur (leg and thigh) and the patella (knee cap) and femur. The most common knee problems in running relate to what is called the "patellofemoral complex". This consists of the quadriceps, knee cap and patellar tendon.
Avatar n tn SO I AM HAVING PRETTY EXTREME PAIN ONLY WHEN KNEEING ON LEFT KNEE--USUALLY DOMINATE KNEE THAT I ALWAYS KNEE ON WITH ALL MY WIEGHT ON FIRST. DOESNT HURT TO WALK ON OR BEND OR ANY OTHER MOTION. RECENTLY I CAN FEEL SENSATIONS FROM A LITTLE BELOW MY KNEE LIKE "PINS AND NEEDLES" BUT VERY SLIGHT. I CAN LIGHTLY TOUCH BELOW CENTER OF KNEE AND FEEL SAME PAIN WITH VERY LITTLE PRESSURE LIKE A SLIGHT RUB.
Avatar f tn I twisted my knee and when it happen I heard and felt a pop on the inside of my knee. Also, now when I walk, I have pain and crackling on the outside, under the knee. When I am walking and I have to turn or piviot, I get a pain that runs the inside of my knee. And now I can just be standing there and my knee feels like it is really loose and feels like I hyperextended in, the knee pushes back. How ling should I wait to go to the doctor or should I continue to try and heal it myself.
Avatar n tn Ever since then I cannot knee on a certain part of that knee. If I do I get a sharp, burning, stinging pain that quickly subsides once off the knee. I can walk and run on it fine, and have not experienced any swelling or other problems. I cannot feel any abnormalities on the outside. The pain is on top of the knee. Even pushing on a certain area it is is sensitive. What do you think?
Avatar m tn I had knee pain in outer side of knee while playing soccer. I took serratiopeptidase + diclofenac potassium capsule by doctors advice. I took rest for 2 weeks but when I started playing it started again. Please advice.
Avatar f tn If the pain comes on bending the knee, then it could be due to Patellofemoral syndrome or runners knee. This happens due to mal-alignment of the knee cap on bending the knee (and hence any imaging study has to be taken with the knee bent), injury to the knee (you may have sustained while playing), flat feet, over tight or over lax muscles around the knee joint.
Avatar m tn When you are, then you could figure out the perfect suitable treatment method by just going through adequate knee joint prognosis. Knee pain can be due to various situations and might result in serious soreness inside the knee if not treated. The soreness won't only have an effect on your body, but it might also affect your way of life.
