knee-pain

Avatar m tn Hi, I have pain in the tibia of my left leg, which I think is below the knee cap. The pain started when I was 18, after I got an injury during a basketball game. Now I'm 20 and I still feel the pain only when I engage in physical activity. What's wrong with me. Could these by osgood schlatters disease?
Avatar m tn I have been having knee pain for about 1 and a half months now and the doctor's said it's nothing with my bones. I still haven't had an MRI yet and my football coach thinks it's one of three things: Osgood-Schlatter's disease my growth plate is fractured. I forget the third one though. Right under my knee cap hurts when I do too much exercise. It almost feels like there is also a pressure in my knee. Can anybody tell me what they think is going on and if my coach is right?
Avatar f tn I have a painful growth on the front of my knee. In 2012 I had a lipoma removed from the area. Within 2-3 years a new type of lump developed that was very different. It’s jelly like to the touch, very soft and painful to press on and it jiggles when I walk/run. It hurts worse at night and causes pain with some activity. I have a hard lump just beside it that feels like a knob on my bone. I’ve had an MRI and an Ultrasound on the area and the doctors state they do not see anything on the scans.
Avatar m tn My 14 yr old daughter has had knee pain for a couple of years, Dr's have said muscles around her knee joint needed strengthening and she has been going to physical therapy. the 1st therapist she went to said the range of motion in her hip/knee was minimal and had her do a stretching routine. I decided not to continue with the therapy since she could do these stretches at home. To my regret she didn't continue with the stretches and about a year later her knee/hip pain worsened.
Avatar n tn My 5 years old daughter has severe pain(cramp like) behind the knee for 4-6 seconds, then relieve for 3 secs & then repeat the same scenario few times. All this will be over within about 2mins the most. What I did is to lie her down & push her toes toward her body with her leg flat on the couch. Just like how I do if there is leg cramps. At the same time, I'll put some camphor oil around the knee area & gently rub to keep warm.
Avatar f tn Joint pain is very common during this active phase of growth, particularly knee pain. It sounds like your son has a particular type of knee pain that occurs during puberty: Osgood-Schlatter. This pain occurs in both knees, is localized to the front part of the knee below the kneecap, and gets worse with activity like running and jumping. It occurs because of rapid bone growth, stretching of the muscles, and the resulting tension on the joints. It’s not dangerous and he’ll grow out of it.
Avatar n tn i was walking across the gym when my knee started hurting then it locked up and i fell. Lots of times the pain is so intense it hurts to walk. my ankles also feel as if they are carrying 1000 pounds, but thats funny because im underweight because of my very high metabolism. PLEASE HELP!
Avatar f tn Severe joint pain in the knee and later also in the fingers. The knee thing turned out to be ostenecrosis where the femur of my right leg was dying. now I think this was all caused by the Tamoxifen, but what matters is that my vit D was very, very low, and it is in many people with cancer and bc. After I found supplements that were effective, and the D normalized, my leg and knee went back to normal. it just started one day without any injury or provocation and it stopped the same way.
Avatar n tn I had a total knee replacement on my left knee 3 month ago. Less than a week after surgery I noticed that my hair growth on that total leg has gone from extremely light to very heavy. The other leg remains unchanged. I brought this up to my doctor at a follow up today and he acted as if I was crazy and tried to say it was probably medicine related, but I have a hard time accepting that since this happened only to the leg the knee replacement was on and at the exact time of the knee replacement.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply to when will I walk again: My defect was on my bone under the kneecap. My doctor said that it was a hole the size of the end of his pinkie finger..he is an average size. I faithfully used the CPM for three weeks postop for six hours a day and put no weight on my knee for six weeks. During that time, I used a scooter to get around my house, then I began crutches continuously.
1746651 tn?1311528836 When we tucked him in tonight, he accidentally bumped his knee on my elbow and cried, out right tears and curled up in pain. I have never seen him in such agony. (Not even when he broke his wrist a year ago, he didn't shed one tear). I am going to try and get him back into the specialist, but does anyone have any insight? Is it normal for sclerotic bones to be so tender??
Avatar n tn s thyroid is down, his cortisone levels low, his testosterone levels low and his growth hormone levels high. Taps of his knee removed up to 500 cc of fluid, but no evidence of anything specifically wrong inside the knee, just that it was being damaged. He looked gaunt and unhealthy. 1. what hormonal problem could be causing these symptoms? 2. Why would joint damage be associated with rapid growth and low testosterone levels?
Avatar f tn However, she continues to have intense knee pain (7-8 on the 1 to 10 scale) on a constant basis when weight bearing. Her knee frequently gives out -- she falls a lot -- especially when bumped from the side. Her orthopedist has said probably patello-femoral syndrome (growth plates still marginally open) but acknowledges that the knee instability isn't consistent with that diagnoses (nor is the intensity of the pain).
Avatar m tn I had a x-ray of my knee done, and the doctor said that the growth plate in my knee is closed. I am wondering if my spine growth plate may still be open.

Avatar f tn As I suspect there are multiple pathologies occuring that are causing your knee pain I would recommend firstly visiting a podiatrist (lower limb specialist) to diagnose the underlying pathologies and determine if conservative or surgical treatment is required. If you're ever up in Brisbane drop by the Kelvin Grove QUT Podiatry Clinic, $30 new patient consults.
Avatar n tn I had surgery at 14, tumor was benign, and they put staples in all of my growth plates in my right knee (to let the left catch up) and stables in 1 side of my right knee to try and even out my left femur. Since I have been fine however I get the basic arthritis in the cold, etc along with my left knee not lining up right it bugs me. My question is, I am 28 now, things have changed since then. Is there anything or any procedures I should be looking into?
Avatar n tn And have tried everything he has asked me too. The only thing that has worked for my knee pain that allows me to be pain free ,is pain pills, but I am afraid to ask him for them because of the immediate labeling(which even you are having as you read this) that comes from someone asking for a strong pain medication. Stay off the knee! I can’t, I have no desire to be stationary until I am dead.Limit your activities> I already do, no running, jumping, or hard impact sports.
Avatar f tn I am have burning pain left hip going on around my left side to the front of my let to the knee. Standing and sitting are realy uncomfortable and sleeping , Can steroid injections and physical theropy help this condition.
Avatar f tn Hi, I recently took my 12 year old son to the pediatrician for what I thought was Osgood Schlatter Disease. I had googled his symptoms and was sure this is what he has. But the pediatrician said that Osgood Schlatter is more involved near the ligament below the knee that connects to the libia and that my son's was a bony growth on his bone just below this area. His symptoms are pain with actitivies, pain at night, and sometimes he limps.
Avatar f tn Extensive blood work with no significant findings, pelvic ultrasounds show multifollicular and enlarged ovaries, hip x-ray normal, left knee MRI – micro tearing under knee cap, hip ultrasound – bursitis and edema, clear abdominal CT apart from enlarged liver that was normal with last ultrasound, neck ultrasound clear, clear colonoscopy and endoscopy, brain MRI clear
Avatar f tn The surgeon told us he had a little growth left. My concern is if they had to place a screw in the knee will this affect the remainder of growth he had left?
Avatar f tn When I am off the pill for a couple of months I get that same referred knee pain that I used to get where my knee goes numb and throbs like mad 2 days before my period. Is yours something like that or is it constant?
Avatar m tn If you go to an orthopedist, make sure that it is a pediatric orthopedist because your son is still growing, and growth plates are still active. Has ibuprofen helped with the pain? He also could be experiencing "growing pain", which is literally that, but there may be special precautions he has to take depending on where the pain is. Another reason to see an pediatric orthopedist.
