Avatar n tn I have had the same thing in my left leg - it's been about 2 weeks now for me. Started with some pain behind my knee, I couldn't straighten my leg all the way. Then the pain kind of moved down into my calf, affected my thigh a little, then behind my knee -- it's been on and off for 2 weeks. I tried icing it which kind of helped - tried wearing a knee brace, sort of helped.
1306931 tn?1273540199 i am now wondering if the neurology tests just caused a flare up that was going to happen anyway, or did the testing actually cause my knee/leg to start hurting again. I"m definitely calling a dr, maybe orthopedic surgeon?? but trying to do some background work on my own.
Avatar f tn I had a road accident in June 2008 and gradually have had tingling in my legs and sometimes arms, with pain in my right hip sometimes so bad I cannot walk, feels like a screw driver digging into my hip. The pain is now going down my leg around the right side of knee, feels very tight. When this happens I just have to rest then it gets better. worse for walking and sitting and exercise, better for rest and warmth. Sometimes my knee locks up and my right hand goes dead as well.
Avatar m tn If the leg pain is knee high you (I think) need more then socks. What kind of doctor(s) are you seeing? They have doctors who focus on pain and can advise you on all sorts of treatments (Including when you should consider talking to a surgeon about knee replacement) Your GP can write you a prescription for compression. And of course tell you if this is a good idea (or not) I'm not an expert but I would think "if" you need this you need ones that go over the knee.
Avatar n tn for the past month from my knee down to my toes have been going numb, at first it just feels like my feet are falling asleep then it turns into a cramp, and its alot of pain for a few minutes. Recently my thighs have started to feel really sore esp. in the morning when i wake up .. there is no sign of brusing or anything. it's really bothering me tho.
Avatar f tn Since about 3 weeks I have severe pain on the back of my knee ( left leg), it hurts mostly when walking. Especially after sitting a while, If Advil don't help to ease the pain. I'm not a sports person have not done anything out of the ordinary. the muscle on my calves are very tight and sometimes cramp. I have done a ultrasound to rule out a blood clot. Fortunately nothing was found. Thank you for any response. I do stretch sometimes, put heat on.
Avatar f tn t think this has to do with my previous back problems because he did a physical exam on me and my leg moved without pain. But he did not move my knee. Just the leg up and down, side-ways. So he ordered an MRI on ONLY my knee. I know what sciatic pain it like. It goes from the buttocks down to the foot. But mine does not start in the buttocks, but in the knee. At the same time I get the impression that it could be my back.
Avatar f tn Finally started urinating more regularly and the pain is becoming less. Was told to keep the knee brace on when I get up during the day and at night when sleeping. Was also told to keep the compression socks on both legs for 6 weeks. - January 27, 2010. Starting to feel less pain. Started walking with crutches today. No more walker. Yesterday I stopped using the cooler ice system for the knee. Bladder still somehow sensitive when urinating, but it does not burn when I urinate.
Avatar f tn t even any damage to my clothes from where I hit the pavement, so I figured the bumps and bruises were going to be the end of it. But a few days later, my left knee started to hurt. At first, it was just a little sore when I bent it--like to bike or go up and down stairs. By this morning, even just walking around caused pain. I feel it along either side of my knee and around the back, not really in/around my kneecap. It's a dull ache that turns sharp when the knee is bent a certain way.
Avatar f tn QUITE A FEW MONTHS AGO I STARTED GETTING ACHES IN BOTH LEGS, I PUT IT DOWN TO THE MENOPAUSE, ANYWAY 6 WEEKS AGO THE PAINS SEEMED TO BE GETTING WORSE I HOPED IT WOULD GO AWAY, 3 WEEKS AGO I NOTICED MY LEFT KNEE WAS PAINFUL AND SWOLLEN, MY DOCTOR SENT ME FOR AN XRAY I HAD GOT MODERATE OSTEOARTHRITIS OF MY KNEE, UNFORTUNATELY AT THE MOMENT I HAVE TO HOLD ONTO SOMETHING TO GET UP OUT OF A CHAIR AND A STRUGGLE TO CLIMB STAIRS, WHILST SITTING I GET PAIN IN OTHER LEG I AM ONLY 55 BUT I FEEL ABOUT 70, I

Avatar f tn Can arthritis of the knee affect the leg this badly, to the point that I cannot put all my weight on the leg and am limping? He ruled out any clots in leg. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Physical exam of the knee is a big part of diagnosis, so unfortunately I won't be able to give you a definitive answer as to what is going on. From what you tell me though, I certainly think that further testing is warranted, since your pain seems to be relatively severe. It is possible that you are having a flare of arthritis, but it could also be something like a meniscal tear.
Avatar m tn Started a year ago, when i fell off a stepladder replacing a lightbulb. The step ladder was about waist height, and when i fell, i landed on my knee caps first on the tile floors. I spent the next two weeks limping. A month later, during one of my performances as an acrobat, i ran towards a waist height brick wall and jumped over, mistimed it, and ended up bashing my knee caps against both. Again, i was limping for the month. It was okay, i didn't feel any pain for two weeks after the month.
Avatar f tn ve had 3 hip implants and the pain from the hip causes pain ALL the way down my leg. If you stop and think about it your entire leg is connected to your knee and therefore it WILL affect your entire leg. I hope that you will give us the missing information such as your EXACT diagnosis and like I said we might be able to be of more help to you. :) Looking forward to your update.........
Avatar f tn What helps me is if I put my left foot and my right leg by the knee. Put your elbow on the left knee put just a bit of pressure down on it ever so often for about 30 to 45 minutes before bed. I do this to both leg every night and I haven't had any issues since I started doing this.
Avatar n tn He also strapped my leg in a bent position to the leg of the table I was on which left me almost screaming in pain. I leave therapy and can not put any weight on my leg for the rest of the day. I do my exercises at home as well as aquatics at my gym and seem to have better results without all the aggressive technics. My surgeon wants to do a manipulation but this seems to be just more trauma to cause more scar tissue. Have you had this and will it help?
Avatar f tn in July I was exposed to 105 degree weather and took my child to a pool where I went down a water slide and miss calculated the bottom of the pool and kind of jammed my left leg. Which is the leg I limp with on occasion and my left side is where most of my problems happen. So in response to this I iced and heated for a few weeks. It hurt for a couple of days, but not badly enough to make me go to the doc.
Avatar n tn It warms the ice pack quickly. My thigh is swollen too, but all the pain is in my knee. It hurts to touch the bones in my knee. My ankles are a little swollen and also the calf on the other leg. I have had a meniscus tear and arthritis in one knee and baker's cyst in the other. Should I see an orthopedic surgeon or a Vascular surgeon? My knee is really hurting 24/7. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn The MCL is intact. LATERAL COMPARTMENT: Allowing for motion artifact, there is fraying to the lateral meniscal posterior horn free edge, and the posterior root is diminutive. Superficial chondral fibrillation is present at the posterior meniscal surface of the tibial plateau without subchondral remodeling. Intact lateral collateral ligament complex and structures of the posterolateral corner. INTERCONDYLAR NOTCH: The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments are intact.
Avatar m tn About a month ago I started having heel pain like they were bruised, about a 12 days ago I started having calf pain in my left leg, about 6 days ago my left knee started hurting and swelling in the middle back and front top left of knee, now I notice that leg looks a little bigger from the knee down and my socks leave deeper indentations than my right leg.
Avatar m tn I still limp, although after the first 10 steps, once the leg moves a bit, I do better. Most of the pain is in the knee, the leg still swells at the actual fracture site, but the knee is the major pain area. How long should I expect this to continue? I was a very active person before this accident, walked a few miles a day, and now I feel like a slug! The pain has changed me, and I hate taking the narcotics...Please...any advice would be greatly appreciated.
10562950 tn?1411070041 but this is knee and my whole leg hurts from top to bottom.. Both legs.. i woke up in the middle of the night crying in pain. Anybody else experience this??
Avatar n tn After a the plaster removed I noted that I could not straght my leg and with lots of pain... Then on my follow up appointment, the doctor noted from the X-Ray that the surgeon has left the "Rod" 7mm above the top... And I don't understand why that happened? Can you explain to me?
Avatar n tn And once the 30 second episode was over, there was absolutlely no pain and I could jump up on down on the knee with no affect. However, after the pain left, it did take me a few mintues to recover from each attack, my breathing was very labored and endorphines (or something) were still rushing around. I found out later this was an effect from the Sympthetic Nervous System being activated.
Avatar n tn wondering what causes pain in my right leg during the night? It doesn't hurt at all during the day. It's not a cramp, it just hurts. Thanks!!
Avatar m tn If the pain went from your butt at the back of your leg to the knee, you may have damaged part of your lower back causing impingement or pressure on the sciatic nerve - sciatica. Go to the ER and get an xray done to make sure there is no break.
