Knee pain from sitting too long

Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain from sitting too long

knee-pain

Avatar m tn Hi, I am 40 years old. Basically, it's like this...the longer I sit, the more it (my left knee) hurts. If I stand after sitting a long time, I just can't take it, and have to walk around for a couple minutes. After I walk around for a couple minutes, it feels absolutely fine. I feel as if nothing is wrong. And if I walk around all day I'm completely fine(No Pain). I can go up and down stairs just fine.... it's just the sitting ... if I sit too long, that's what kills me.
Avatar n tn I have been told that I need knee replacements... have bone on bone in fact it is scheduled for one knee I feel that I weigh to much (like around 300) and have pains that are not part of the knee problem so the question is ... Avatar n tn Ever since then I cannot knee on a certain part of that knee. If I do I get a sharp, burning, stinging pain that quickly subsides once off the knee. I can walk and run on it fine, and have not experienced any swelling or other problems. I cannot feel any abnormalities on the outside. The pain is on top of the knee. Even pushing on a certain area it is is sensitive. What do you think?
Avatar n tn The pain is present while walking, climbing stairs and when I first stand after sitting for a long period of time. Additionally, if I stand for too long, my knee is extremely sore and stiff. The worst pain is that which wakes my in the middle of the night at least 1-2 times per week. I will be sleeping on my side and wake with excruciating pain, as if an ice pick is driving through the side of my knee (interior side) and into the joint.
Avatar f tn Two days later once I stand up it sends a shooting pain from my buttocks down to my my knee and a bit down wards. I now feel it when sitting when lying down and when standing down which is worst. I don't have any injury around that area and I live in Nigeria. Any suggestions that you can give as to what might be wrong and probable solutions before I am able to go to the hospital. Don't have enough money to go and get the X-rays and other scans done.
398059 tn?1447945633 I sometimes get more comfortable by putting one foot up on my knee - it keeps my hips from getting too tight. But for the most part I just take the drugs they give me - it's much better than the spasms.
Avatar f tn Now, it still hurts to walk for a long time on it and sometimes while sitting I have an aching pain. The main area of the pain is on the inner part of my left knee. If anyone knows of what could be wrong or what could help, I would grately appreciate it.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I want to get mobilized and walking as soon as I can. Right now the pain is too high in the leg and knee to walk. But if the fluid goes out of the leg and knee from the clot then the pain will go down. Any thoughts and suggestions. I have been trying to elevate the leg when I can but I can't lay down all the time. My doctor surprising didn't want a compression stocking. This doctor is a new graduate. My regular GP was out. I think this doctor is good.
Avatar f tn now i still have problems with that area allso because it still hurts when my knee grindsl. any sitting for long periods of time . when I going to stand up it hurts like the dickens.. but, I try to bear it so much that I cry.. again that doc~s says you have arthritis. oh wait my cervical have issues too..
Avatar n tn And have tried everything he has asked me too. The only thing that has worked for my knee pain that allows me to be pain free ,is pain pills, but I am afraid to ask him for them because of the immediate labeling(which even you are having as you read this) that comes from someone asking for a strong pain medication. Stay off the knee! I can’t, I have no desire to be stationary until I am dead.Limit your activities> I already do, no running, jumping, or hard impact sports.
Avatar m tn If I sit on a chair for a few minutes, then attempt to move my right knee, or stand up, I will experience excruciating pain all along my joint. It's mostly under my kneecap. My left knee is perfectly fine. The thing is, though, that it isn't because of long periods of inactivity. If I wake up in the morning and sit on a chair for only a few minutes, the pain will be just as bad as it would be during the rest of the day.
Avatar f tn When sitting, sometimes my knee area aches and I have to extend it and put it up on a chair. But it is much better when sitting down. I have no pain from the hip down to the knee. It is the knee and the anterior part of my lower leg. Also I feel tingling in the heel of my foot. I do not have cold or blue toes...either... When I had my herniated disc L5/S1, the pain was sciatic and went down the whole BACK side of my leg.
Avatar f tn Back when I was a kid, I hurt my right knee pretty hard. Went to the doctors, as the "swelling" wasn't receding, and was diagnosed with exostosis. Had surgery to remove the ostheocondroma at the age of 13, which resided on the inner part of right knee. Around 20, it started bothering me again.
Avatar m tn You often would have swelling in the area too. Activity makes it flair or sitting for long periods until it is progressed to the point of constant pain. This doesn't exactly sound like you. You are also young for that unless you've had an injury or were an athlete that had a lot of overuse. Exactly where the pain is around the knee is helpful too. If you are active, an issue with the cartage in your knee could be the culprit. Again, see your doctor for an X ray.
Avatar m tn I have had knee pain in my left knee for about 3 years now. When i am sitting on a chair and i straighten my left leg the pain occurs, and there must be something wrong because my right knee is fine. I also get the pain when i am lying in bed. The pain is most apparent when i lift my left knee cap, you know how you can tense or whatever and your knee cap will move up.
Avatar f tn Yeah I have pretty bad knee, hip, and lower back pain. More than likely it's just from the extra weight from the pregnancy. I'm hoping it'll stop once I deliver, for you and me. I know how miserable it can be.
Avatar f tn When sitting down there is no pain, and I can move my leg around with no pain while sitting. My knee pops occasionally but nothing new. I'm in the military, and I don't want to go to the doctor unless I have to so I don't lose a deployment coming up. Any advice is appreciated.
Avatar m tn I am over weight but I have recently lost 5 – 6 kg form and h pylori infection. I have also noticed that the pain comes only from sitting on certain types of chairs only. Thank you again for your response.
