knee-pain

Avatar n tn My mom is in training for a marathon, and had to quit after complaining of severe pain in her hips. She went to the doctor and after bone scans, x-rays, and the like; the doctor said it was burrcitous (I'm sure I'm spelling that wrong). At first she thought it was arthritis, but it just kept getting worse. She's not allowed to run anymore.
15695260 tn?1549593113 As someone who has consistently run about 30 to 50 miles a week for the past 17-18 years (recently it is 60 miles plus for marathon training), I have gone through a lot of running shoes.
Avatar f tn My knee is stiff and painful today underneath the knee cap where the pes anserine tendon inserts and to the inside of the knee cap (medially). I also have pain in the middle of the back of the knee, is especially sharp if I push into it. In terms of comfort and daily activities, I am having no trouble walking except that my knee will get a little swollen (very slight) and stiff if I walk a lot.
Avatar f tn I want to make sure to prevent something bad (like some of the things I've read). I am training for the NY Marathon now and it's about 2 months away. I have had runner's knee before and so as a preventative have gone to the doctor who cured me (using ART, active release therapy) every other week. My knees are pretty much symptom free as a result. He is a tri-athlete chiro focused on runners/athletes and just does some preventative deep massages and ART.
Avatar n tn Back in February, while doing hill training for a half marathon, my left hip started burning (groin area). I iced and stretched and kept training. About a month later it got so bad, even walking hurt. I stopped running in April and saw an Orthopedic doctor, who did an MRI (nothing found), sent me to PT for 6 weeks. In the meantime, he told me it was ok for me to cycle.
Avatar m tn Then, as you feel they are getting less sore and better conditioned for that type of workout, you should add a few more sets to each session or throw in new exercises, like hanging knee raises. I take the 2-3 times per week approach (when I started training my abs, I began with 1 session a week and worked my way up). I think this is much better because you are still training the muscle often enough to get great results, but you're not over-training the muscle.
Avatar f tn I am currently training for another half-marathon at the moment and have been gradually increasing my mileage. I run an average of 15-20 miles a week when I am not in training. So I ran a 12 mile training run on Sunday with absolutely no issues or pain of anything. And it felt great. I obviously took Monday off and rested. However I did walk my dog for about a mile that night. That is when I noticed a dulling aching pain starting everytime I would put pressure on my right heel.
Avatar n tn This may have been caused whilst I was doing long distance runs as training for a marathon. I have been told to keep away from high impact activities such as running and was wondering whether rowing would come in to the category of a high impact activity? Should I keep away from rowing whilst I receive physiotherapy to help with the knee pain?
180992 tn?1383374057 My first week results from taking the combo GSI-7985 pill I just got yesterday. I was 19,700,000 and VL was 81. I am not getting the Ribavirin. Doctor said I'm probably UND this second blood draw. Will have results soon. It's seems with or without the terrible Riba this GSI-7985 is extraordinary. I didn't hit UND until wk 12 but relapsed with SOC back in 2007.
Avatar n tn All of these symptoms kicked in after I finished three months of training for a half marathon. After the 1/2 marathon the weight just kept coming off which I thought was a blessing. I thought that the exercising caused my thyroid to become overactive along with the stress from graduate school, work and moving. Do you think running 15 to 20 miles a week and lifting weights for 45 minutes 3 times a week would lead to thyroid problems? Has anyone tried taking Iodine supplements?
Avatar n tn I have been suffering from constipation for the last 7 months also, and during an ultrasound exam, they found a cyst on my liver. I am currently training for a marathon, and have been experiencing some weird feelings in my chest. They are not painful, just more of an annoyance. When I am relaxing, I have a butterfly type of feeling in my upper chest and throat area, and I can feel my heart beating very hard...but not fast.
Avatar m tn I am about 5 weeks into the training now and have good days and bad days. The pain never really goes away and from what i have learned is that it is probably my IT band. It always feels tight around the top outside of my knee always and after a competitive run it hurts along the outside of the knee and sometimes at the bottom of the knee. I have taken anti inflammatory meds which have help out a lot.
Avatar m tn Anyone have a decent answer to calf cramp? Started training for a half marathon after years of not doing much except golf. Cross trainer is fine & can get up abut 45 mins. Went for a run first time & felt like someone had shot me in the back of the leg after about 400 yds! Carried on for a bit until the other one went & had to walk back like John Wayne. Tried a few times since - a bit better with loads of stretches first & ice after but still in agony for days.
Avatar f tn Marathoners benefit from a higher carbohydrate load, says Running Planet. Where you are in your training plan also influences a runner's diet. If you are in the long-run stage of training for a marathon or ultra marathon, you will need more calories and carbs. Fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, unsaturated fats and low-fat dairy. No processed foods they have extra sodium, sugar and fat and doesn't offer nutrition to working muscles.
Avatar m tn This happens due to mal-alignment of the knee cap on bending the knee (and hence any imaging study has to be taken with the knee bent), injury to the knee (you may have sustained it in past), flat feet, over tight or over lax muscles around the knee joint. All these aspects will have to be investigated by your doctor. Other possibilities are bursitis (inflammation of fluid filled sac over joints), tendonitis (inflammation of cords joining muscles to bones) or due to weakness of patellar bone.
Avatar f tn however I now find that when I kneel on my right knee I get a needle like pain - similar to the feeling of a plaster being ripped off my knee on right side. I can run, jump etc but kneeling is excruciating. Can anyone advise if this is temporary - that some rest might fix or could I have damaged something requiring further investigation. Part of my knee is also numb since fall and have throbbing sensation but no swelling.
Avatar f tn I have not been able to use GUs as the consistancy makes me feel sick. I ended my training runs and the attempted marathon with a lot of salt deposited on my legs, face and arms....has this ever happened to anyone?
Avatar f tn 7d) and I have developed a new symptom. It started about a week ago. The pain is above my knee, inner thigh. It started on my left thigh, and it feels as if I ran a marathon and my thighs were rubbing together the whole time. Now the pain is on both sides, The pain is bearable, very uncomfortable. It's gotten to the point where I can't bend my legs. Anyone had this? Someone onlline said it might be a blood clot. I have a dr.
Avatar m tn My four years kid lately is suffering from knee pain started on one knee then for both knees and sometimes he cries. He loves soccer. He is having soccer training in the club 3 times weekly for about 1:30 hours each session and he wears soccer shoes from about 4 months.
Avatar f tn I have no idea what to do about my knee pain, i went for lifeguard training today and i cant even push myself because my knee give out even with swimming :( im sick of this pain :(((
Avatar m tn Normal pre race intake, was well hydrated, no caffiene, race temps 78. Nothing unusual. Assuming I had adequate training could this all be from adrenalin related to my first marathon?
Avatar f tn Back when I was a kid, I hurt my right knee pretty hard. Went to the doctors, as the "swelling" wasn't receding, and was diagnosed with exostosis. Had surgery to remove the ostheocondroma at the age of 13, which resided on the inner part of right knee. Around 20, it started bothering me again.
Avatar f tn Went to the doctor and found out its PVC. The thing is, I've been very active my entire life, and these started after partaking in exercise that would normally be considered pretty moderate. If anything running decreases my stress levels.
