Avatar m tn I need to be sure that you know there are NO Doctors on this Forum. We are ALL CP (Chronic Pain) Patients. We help each other through our expertise with our OWN Pain experiences. I'm VERY sorry to hear of your fall!! I'm just happy that you weren't hit by a car! You REALLY need to go to your Doctor and have them do an x-ray OR an ultra sound and find out what damage you have done to your knees.
Avatar n tn Hi all. I was doing some online searching for possible causes of my knee pain and stumbled on this site. I'm hoping someone might have some insight. I received a cortisone injection a couple of weeks ago in my left heel for plantar faciitis. Since then, I've developed a somewhat sharp pain in my right knee making it somewhat hard to walk or bend. I've had no injury to my knee and never really had knee pain before.
888841 tn?1242516603 Hello Toni, Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Mangement Forum. I am glad that you found us but sorry to hear about your knee pain. You are so young to have knee pain. I am far from an expert but the first thing that comes to mind in your situation is a Meniscus Tear. Meniscal tears are among the most common of knee injuries. They can occur without an actual "injury" to the knee. A simple turn or movement can cause them. They can occur at any age.
Avatar n tn Hello Tttyner, welcome to the pain management Forum of Medhelp. I am sorry to hear about your knee pain. "Bad" knees runs heavy in my family. I know how painful they can be. I have been lucky enough to avoid them. There are so many different reasons that could be the cause of your knee pain. Arthritis, Ligament issues, Cartilage or Meniscus tears, Chondromalacia Patella (knee cap) Bursitis and the list goes on.
Avatar n tn Hello sarabear and welcome to the Pain Forum: I think what you're experiencing is called Runner's Knee (Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome) The knee is a complex joint. It includes the articulation between the tibia and femur (leg and thigh) and the patella (knee cap) and femur. The most common knee problems in running relate to what is called the "patellofemoral complex". This consists of the quadriceps, knee cap and patellar tendon.
Avatar f tn i'm a dancer and I can't extend my knee anymore. I don't know what I did to mess it up. but even laying down i have to force myself to extend it. every time i get it extended it sends sharp pain from the lower part of my knee up to my hip bone. I'm only 20 so the thought of knee replacement scares me half to death. I can't start my career in dance until my knee is back to normal.. i've tried icing it, stretching it, biofreeze you name it i've probably tried it.
Avatar f tn My pain is mostly on the side of my knee cap and it swells just by standing, i tried mentioning it to my doctor but he keeps making me wait to see if it gets better, he also recently put my in a patella j brace, to keep my knee in place, but it seems to be making my pain worst.
Avatar f tn my acl had ripped during physical therapy so i had acl replacement on oct. 23 of 07. Ever since then i have had the worse knee pain ever. i can't walk in the morning, severe pain unless i have at least 2 norcos. I don't have insurance but i have paid for a reavulation at the same physical therapy place i went to and they told me that i needed to go to pain management and more surgery for knee replacement. i'm only 18....
Avatar m tn Hot peppers are a traditional remedy for back pain dating back two thousand years. The peppers are ground up and placed in olive oil and rubbed around the affected area. The peppers contain capsaican. The reason this works is that the body can transmit only one pain signal nat a time. The skin senses the capsaican and sends a "pain" signal, but there isn't really pain. The Capsaican simulates pain. The nerve pain, however, gets blocked.
518798 tn?1295212279 I'm just me, but why would you get in trouble posting something about pain on addiction forum. If we don't get our pain at a tolerable level, well for me, that puts me at a n increased risk for relapse. I will do what it takes to prevent that. Blessings to you all. Good Morning. I am still up and bight eyed and bushy tailed as they would say. I have been a little overexcited/hyper, (there's another word I know, but have hard time finding it.
Avatar f tn it also gives out every now and then, and now i also am experiencing a shooting pain that feels cold and radiates partly down to my upper calf bone, and after the shooting pain is over, the knee feels very cold and achy. (this pain i am describing is occurring inside the knee, and not on the exterior. any ideas?
Avatar n tn My nine year old daughter, Irene, has presented with knee pain for the last three weeks. She has to use crutches to walk. She can bend her leg at the knee with no problem but she cannot straighten it without crying out in pain, she cannot put any weight on it because it hurts worse. She has had x-rays, an MRI and has appointments with physical therapy, orthopedics, and rheumatology. The xrays came back negative, the MRI showed no problems with her bones just slight inflamation.
Avatar m tn This would rule out the major cause of arthritis related pain (whether the spine is involving the leg and hip pain or the knee joint is having referred pain in the hips and vice-versa). SO consulting an orthopaedician is must. Let me know, what was the outcome. Feel free to discuss more. Regards...
2115734 tn?1334546847 For X number of months (where X can be 3, or 4, or 5 or maybe even 6), I have no physical pain in the RIGHT knee. When OA (osteoarthritis) physical pain starts under the kneecap of the RIGHT knee, I do quad sets for Y number of consecutive days (where Y can be 4, or 5, or 6 or 7 consecutive days) and the physical pain ends again for X number of months. I'd like to swim but know that with no external support around the RIGHT knee there's physical pain while swimming.
Avatar m tn If it is just occasionally popping with no pain, it could be nothing and some exercise like knee bends could strengthen your knee. On the other hand, it is painful too especially with swelling you may want to see a doc. If your knee is making a grinding noise for example it could mean that the cartilage is wearing down. Especially if this continues to bother you check with your pcp or an orthopedic specialist before exercising or anything!
