Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain exercises rehab

knee-pain

Avatar m tn On January 9, 2024, I was finally able to see rehab person. Exercises again, similar to right knee, except this time the pain didn’t return to baseline the next day. By week three of rehab, after the session I was back on the crutches the next day. To make matters EXTRA interesting, I had a bout of vertigo one day, and while trying to move around with the crutches and absolutely NO balance, I managed to twist the right knee again, so now BOTH knees were painful and unsupportive.
446097 tn?1223694666 OK let me talk to you as a therapist if your rehab is causing that much pain than you need to tell your therapist it should not cause so much pain that it decreases your functional life. by not doing your exercises just pisses of the therapist so they take it out on you if this is happening you need to speak up. go to my photo's there is a picture there tittled core exercises try them there made for the beginer starting there exercise.
Avatar n tn What joint was involved? Knee, shoulder, ankle...? Much depends on the severity of the injury, the patient's own immune system, and the patient's dedication to rehab. One thing for certain, that joint will never be the same as it was before the injury. He will certainly have good use of it, but it's going to be painful for a good long while. The physical therapy is the most important part of rehab. Unfortunately, it HURTS.
6736456 tn?1384270917 About 3 days in with this pain my left buttock and behind the left knee started feeling numb (or like a falling asleep feeling). No pain between the buttock and knee. I went to a chiropractor and she said it is not a sciatic pinch because it is not a continuous pain down the leg. My lower back pain is gone, but still have the other pains.
Avatar m tn sudden knee pain during pt and continued pain interior medial aspect. medic took xrays - all ok. Soft tissue issues. therapist can feel the popping of (muscle, ligament, tendon???) during flexion and extension. It feels like something has to pop over something else for leg to straighten. It hurts when it does. Occurs during weight-beating and non weight bearing. Therapist says muscle may be increasing in bulk but not stretching out causing other soft tissues??? to have to pop over them.
Avatar f tn Once you are able to walk short distances unassisted, it is important to regain the strength in your leg muscles with resistance exercises. You can do the early rehab exercises with light ankle weights or resistance bands, and you can ride a stationary bike at varying degrees of resistance to strengthen your muscles and work on your range of motion at the same time. Consider taking yoga or tai chi classes.

Avatar m tn Most of the time when I am walking around it feels like normal, however there are times that I feel excruiating pain in and around the knee. I have noticed most times it occurs is when i am bending deep with my knee I.e. getting into my car, going down stairs fast, bending down to pick something off the ground. However it does not always happen when I am doing these activities. When the pain starts the only way I have seen to relief the pain is to straighten out my leg.
5987839 tn?1381922502 has anyone had similar issues with prior spasticity in an area where they then had surgery? What was recovery like, with the MS? Should I be worried about the MS "reacting" to the surgery?
Avatar m tn My doctor told me after an MRI that the tear could not be taken care of with arthoscopic surgery but only open knee surgery and he did not reccommend this due to the serious rehab that would be required following the surgery. I went on to ask if there was anything else that could be done to rehab the tendon and he said unlike a muscle you cannot strengthen a tendon and that I could not do anything to help my cause UNLESS it is the surgery.
647391 tn?1275016633 I had implant at 60 and replaced due to pain 2/20/13 after 10 years. Was still functional but very limited. A full knee replacement can result in gaining a nearly fully active life free of pain. I am a golfer and know several others who go from no pain or discomfort to very little. I have had 3 operations on it and feel it's worth the temporary pain and slight possibility of complications.
Avatar n tn t been able to give me any information about what I could have done to my knee. I have been focusing on rehab and losing weight but so far, no improvement. Anyone still think I tore my ACL or reinjured in some form or another?
Avatar m tn Soreness is okay with exercises, pain is not. If an exercise causes pain, discontinue until other exercises start to feel easier and use that exercise as a progression and then add it back into your rehab. Any questions?
Avatar m tn The consultant recommended a knee brace that locks at 0 degrees and 90 degrees while I undergo some physio and rehab. I have ordered a knee brace from DonJoy that is suitable, and just had my first physio session yesterday. The physio actually advised that I can move my knee through more than 90 degrees of flexion when exercising / stretching / in rehab, since I was able to do so without too much effort and no real discomfort when she was treating me.
Avatar f tn I would suggest resting the knee till the pain and swelling settle. Ice-packs and NSAIDS may also be helpful for relief. After that I would advice seeing a physiotherapist for exercises that would strengthen you hamstrings. You may also consult with your doctor if you would be required to wear a knee brace. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn So far my rehab has been going well, however today after sitting my damaged knee crossed over my good knee during a meeting, i stood-up and my knee has started clicking and feels really uncomfortable. Do you think that i may have indadvertedly caused some damage to the graft (I don't usually sit in that position...)?
Avatar n tn In basketball practice I made a cut and felt a sharp pain in my right knee. After that, running and jumping has caused much pain in my knee. I went to an athletic trainer and they told me I had tendinitis and to ice and take ibuprofen. It continues to be very painful during practice. I can feel rubbing and clicking in my knee when I walk. What is wrong with my knee? Should I still be playing basketball or will it make it worse?
Avatar n tn d recommend is seeing a physical therapist who can show you tons of core building exercises, as well as exercises to strengthen your knee and the muscles around it. Or you can go to a gym and get a personal trainer to show you. Or go on You Tube. Or wait for someone here to mention a thousand exercises, because there are literally thousands of different exercises to work on different parts of your core, not that working on your core has proven to be all that beneficial.
Avatar f tn The proper position is over the lumbar vertabrae L1-L-5. Sleep with a pillow between your legs. You will really benefit from some professional rehab therapy from a specialist who will teach you several exercises. You can't lean them on you-tube. This will be the best money you every spent.
Avatar f tn I do notice however that I get sever pain in my right leg and especially knee region when I exercise. My left leg is perfect. It can be extremely painful. Is this normal? Does anyone experience this? When I exercise and start having this pain, should I continue or stop?
Avatar m tn I would first say, do not do any exercises that cause pain. The pain could be realted to the knee cap. Apply ice (no heat!) 10 minutes at a time a few times a day.
Avatar n tn what is the average length of rehab therapy after total knee replacement? This discussion is related to On-going Pain after Knee replacement surgery.
Avatar n tn Do you have access to a gym? Or is this for at home exercises without any equipment?
Avatar f tn I am wondering if bearing the pain and doing exercises to strengthen my neck and shoulders would be a better solutions on helping my pain long term.
