Avatar n tn Aqua therapy without pain. But sometimes running in pool would cause pain in the patella. Strength exercises would cause some pain in patella. But not as bad as running. Running would always make it hurt. In that inner/middle part of patella. On Dec 1 ( 5 1/2 months post surgery) He Started doing more intense strength training on his legs to improve the quad muscles. His quads are getting much stronger. His right leg is almost the size of his left.

Avatar f tn I would suggest resting the knee till the pain and swelling settle. Ice-packs and NSAIDS may also be helpful for relief. After that I would advice seeing a physiotherapist for exercises that would strengthen you hamstrings. You may also consult with your doctor if you would be required to wear a knee brace. Avatar m tn Hi. Thanks for the advice. My knee pain has subsided since my bi-lateral release, but the pain above the knee upto my hip continues. I have been directed down the route of 'snapping hip syndrome' - with IT Band / TFL catching the greater trochanter during the gait cycle of walking / running. I have a new programme this week to strengthen specific muscle groups to try and prevent this happening. Will take a few months to know results.
Avatar f tn I do notice however that I get sever pain in my right leg and especially knee region when I exercise. My left leg is perfect. It can be extremely painful. Is this normal? Does anyone experience this? When I exercise and start having this pain, should I continue or stop?

Avatar f tn You also can do muscle strengthening exercises for knee pain.A physical therapist may help in pain management.You can take some NSAID like acetaminophen or ibubrufen for the pain.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have been having pain mainly in my left knee above and to the left of my left knee cap. I have had X-Rays and a MRI to see if any problems can be found. The doctors said they have found nothing wrong. I went a physical therapist around April of last year during spring track. He said I didn't have enough thigh strength. I do the exercises daily he instructed and they seem to not work anymore. Right now I am running winter track.
Avatar f tn I had keen surgery to fix a torn meniscal tear back in may and have arthritis in my keen in the bone for the last six months I have not felt a least bit better still have pain in back of knee and now have sever pain in the inner part of my keen after walking for just ten mins. I just had another MRI today and show the tear was still the but the doctor said that normal to still show the tear after being fix.
Avatar m tn and was given a few strecthes and leg strengthening exercises to help with my knee problems. Well, after a solid two weeks of performing these exercises, my knee feels strong and well. But whenever i have to stretch and put my left knee into my buttox the entire knee feels an incredible amount of pain. Also, whenever I try and sit on my ankles, I am in HUGE amounts of pain just in the left knee.
Avatar f tn First you have to find out whether the muscle wasting was the cause or the effect of knee locking or knee pain. Generally weakness of the inner thigh muscles and tightness of the outer thigh muscles causes the knee cap to move from its place and cause knee pain and knee locking. This could have happened in your case if you have a localized muscle wasting only.

Avatar f tn Knee pain could be mechanical, your posture when doing these exercises could be leaving your knees damaged? You may need to have your balanced runners checked, maybe add some feet supports to correct the knee angles etc. It fixed my issue somewhat.

Avatar m tn I have been having knee troubles since mid november of last year. The pain came up about two weeks after basketball had started and it hasn't gotten much better or worse to this day. The pain comes when I jump, squat, lunge, etc. which causes playing basketkball very difficult. The pain is worst directly on my kneecap.

This all started from nov 07. I never had injury with my knees. Completed my blood test and routine check up in January 08 but everything is normal. I never had consultation with my knees.

Avatar f tn I was told that I have patella feminel pain, I am use to having trouble kneeling and walking after a shift at work and and my knee being weak and the knee cap moving around, but lately even when I am not doing anything it feels as though something is push up on my knee cap, and extremely painful and I cant get the pain to go away. At time it feels as though something is being wedged under my knee cap.

Avatar f tn anti-inflammatory medication, physical therapy 2x week for 5 months, exercises at home (or bike or swim) and cortisone injection. PT was extensive but worsened the pain: I did taping, dry needling, and ultrasound with hot and cold but all those PT things really hurt and worsened the pain. I don’t do any heavy exercises like squats but pain occurs from walking, resting, stairs, driving. I am seeing a second opinion tomorrow who does specialize in lateral release.
Avatar f tn I have started weight bearing some on the operated knee and except for lots of swelling that appeared yesterday, things are looking good. I do my exercises, I can already flatten my knee, get it to bend some. My first PT is in 4 days next week. Since yesterday I started developing this intense throbbling pain in my calf and lower leg. Yesterday I was sufficiently scared by it and stayed off my feet, upped painkillers.
