I will be sleeping on my side and wake with excruciating pain, as if an ice pick is driving through the side of my knee (interior side) and into the joint. I cannot straighten or bend my knee at this point without using my hands to manually move my leg. I am taking Aleve to no avail. I am writing in hope for some thoughts or ideas as to what I might be dealing with. Thank you in advance for your time.
I had left knee pain for 3 weeks, limped around til I saw an ortho knee guy that I worked with. He had me get an MRI, which showed DJD. TWO days after the MRI I injured it just geting into my car, as I lefted and pulled up and to the right I heard a LOUD POP! Pain to follow was excruciating. I could NOT weight bear for a few days. I went to another ortho and could NOT get an add'l MRI because insurance wouldn't pay. Now the pain that was "inside" my knee (meniscus?
I am deaking with severe pain at the outside of my right knee. It is not muscular it feels in the bone . It is tremendous in pain. The pain travels down the side of my leg it doesn't matter what i am doing, at night I can not lay on that side because of the pain, what is your opinion?
Ever since then I cannot knee on a certain part of that knee. If I do I get a sharp, burning, stinging pain that quickly subsides once off the knee. I can walk and run on it fine, and have not experienced any swelling or other problems. I cannot feel any abnormalities on the outside. The pain is on top of the knee. Even pushing on a certain area it is is sensitive.

Alright, I have this pain in my right side of my hip. The pain isn't really in my hip but it's a shooting pain from my hip to my knee. I only have the pain when I take weight off my right leg for about a minute or more or when I put all my weight on my right leg for about a minute or more. First it started off every once in a while, but now after a month the pain is every time I put/ take the weight off my right leg. It is not from my sciatic nerve.
Hello, thanks for responding the pain has not gone away and it has been almost three weeks, the area of the pain feels to be a little under my knee cap in front and slightly moving to the left side of the knee cap area. When I bend it and try to put weight the pain is a instant sharp shooting pain and it looks a tiny bit puffy on the left side of the knee cap but I put ice and it don't go down. Had xrays done and I was told by ER dont look bad, should I not listen and get a MRI?
I've had this knee pain (left and right) for almost a yr already. The symptoms are as follows:
Grinding / grating sensation upon flexing the knee. Aching pain at and below the patella. Difficulty straightening the knee. Pain is most servere when putting weight or pressure on it. Pain can be felt when climbing up the stairs, jumping, running and standing for prolonged periods. In addition, pain can be felt behind the knee cap.
Recently I have also experienced minimal hip pain. While walking, the area along the medial side of the knee also hurts. The entire area feels like it is full of sand to touch. At times it feels like my knee is buzzing or growling and shifting - even while it is stationary. I experience many different kinds of pain in many different areas of the knee, everything from the type of pain that accompanies a bruise to pinching, burning, and stinging.
it really hurts and burns. I can sit without pain I can stand without pain,I can bend my leg without pain, I can do straight leg lifts without pain. It is just walking that causes the pain and burning. I have been using ice since I first injured it and have been taking ibuprofen and saw my family Doc today and she said it is mildly swollen and is sending me for x-ray tomorrow and then to see my Ortho Doc asap. Any Ideas as to what I mught have done??? Thanks ...
Now, if I am to twist my body toward the left, while keeping my foot planted to the floor as for it not to move, there is extreme pain on the right side of my knee. It is focused on the right side and towards the inside to back portion as well.
What could the pain be coming from as it is a come and go thing, but when it is present, it seems to stay for a while.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
my knee keeps giving out 3 to 4 times a month...When the VA did the Pivot Shift, I explained to them that's exactly what happens when my knee gives out...They called it a gross positive pivot shift..Have had 3 MRI's done in 4 years.. gone from partial tear, to complete tear with reattachment to PCL, to complete tear now laying side ways (what ever that means)...

the pain is at the right side of my right knee, its situated near the fibula, not indicating that my bone is the one hurting, the pain is distinctive as it only hurts in a manner or form of a thread, the pain doesn't take up all of the right part of my knee, its just a thread shape pain that seems to extend from the femur down to the fibula.
What type of pain is this that hits the right knee abruptly even like lightning so swift, and travels from the knee straight through the thigh nerve and/or tissues, shooting straight to the joint of the thigh and groins that lasts at least one to two minutes. Hi my name is katelyn and im 17 years old and having severe knee pain. I have had four surgeries, 2 on my left and 2 on my right. I had surgery on my right knee in november and still having alot of problems, im having swelling on the left side of my right knee and it cracks more then it did before i had surgery, it hurts to stand for more then 10 minutes and my knees get weak really fast, and because of all of this i have developed bursitis in my hip and back problems.

Hello, I'm 14 years old and i have had pain in my knees, hips, and now on the side of my right shin. I started having pain in my left knee in December of '08. Then my right knee started hurting. Then both of my hips. MY hips are the ones that hurt the most now, not so much my knees anymore. I've been in ballet for 9 yrs also. I've had x-rays (sunrise, and lateral?), blood tests for arthritis but nothing came up.
I felt no discomfort then, but each day afterward for about a week I felt first pain on the lateral side of the knee, then the pain moved to the medial side of the knee, now the only discomfort is on the posterior portion of the knee in the soft tissue with my leg straight as I walk. I work as Certified Nursing Assistant, while I was moving a patients bed, I felt something inside my right knee pop from left side across the right side. i'm a dancer and I can't extend my knee anymore. I don't know what I did to mess it up. but even laying down i have to force myself to extend it. every time i get it extended it sends sharp pain from the lower part of my knee up to my hip bone. I'm only 20 so the thought of knee replacement scares me half to death. I can't start my career in dance until my knee is back to normal.. i've tried icing it, stretching it, biofreeze you name it i've probably tried it.
um i woke up a few day ago and also had very bad knee pain and wrist pain on the right side. i could hardly stand.but there was no swelling . I am already on a steroid for another medical issue. right now i am being tested for a muscular disease and do not have the results yet. i also have a pinching, tearing, sorta pain in my left lower abdomen alot and the doctors still dont know what that is etheir.
