Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain causes outside

knee-pain

Avatar n tn Bending knee after putting weight on it often causes painless popping/clicking noises. Bending it with weight still applied causes louder clicking/popping. I have to be standing on it for a few minutes before it starts happening, like when you're brushing your teeth or standing in the shower. The clicking seems to be closest to the lateral posterior outside of the left knee, near the upper calf. Possibly meniscus related. A couple months ago I injured my left knee doing lunges.
Avatar m tn For a few days I could feel something move in the same knee when I would walk down stairs. It felt like it was located to the left (outside) of the center of the knee. That went away. The right knee doesn't have any issues. There is no pain, tenderness, or swelling involved at all. Does this sound like it could be osteoarthritis? I've been working on the computer all day every day for about 10 years and I'm wondering if that sort of extreme inactivity could have caused this.
Avatar n tn Doctors call the outside of the knee the lateral side of the knee. There are several common causes for pain in this area that vary by age and activity level. Once the source of the lateral knee pain is identified, it usually can be eliminated or decreased.

Avatar m tn It is a disorder classified by the presence of chronic widespread pain and tactile allodynia(pain even on touching). If there is any deep seated pain in knee then causes of knee pain need to be ruled out. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.

Avatar f tn My right knee was causing much pain on the outside area, and when I would walk it felt like my knee would try to slip out of joint. Like the outter area of my knee was pulling it out. I went and saw a specialist, they took an x-ray and didn't see any damage. He moved my leg around in every motion possible and said I more than likely tore my meniscus again on the outside and that is why it is giving out.

Avatar m tn for the last four years I have been experiencing sharp pain on the outside of my right knee starting usually after running about 3 miles. no pain when I am not running. It comes on gradually but I eventually need to stop running. The pain is located in the vicinity of the lateral meniscus and is most intense when my foot is off the ground and my leg moving forward. I have had no major injury to this knee. What is going on? is there anything I can do?
Avatar f tn s a sharp shooting electric like pain on the outside of the left knee almost dead even with the top outside corner of my knee cap. If I touch the area and rub it no pain it's actually numb but if I run my finger lightly across the bottom of my knee cap the pain is hooting from there to the out side mention spot. And by lightly I mean just light enough to feel my skin with my finger. Please any info would help it affects my work and daily life. Thank you for your time and any ideas and info.
Avatar f tn So as you can see, arthritis can cause an overall knee pain. Ligament injury causes pain to worsen on walking, bending and stretching the knee. Meniscii too if torn or injured, result in joint instability—that is you are not confident the knee joint will take your weight. Often the person feels a popping sensation on moving the joint. It can also be tendinitis due to inflammation of tendon at the knee joint.

Avatar m tn Possible causes of knee pain that may need to be considered include inflammations, arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, cyst formation, injuries to the internal knee ligaments/ menisci, chondromalacia patellae, loose bodies, patellar dislocation, nerve impingement/ compression, neuropathy, vascular issues, bone growths/ tumours etc; just to name a few. The ankle and wrist issues would need to be looked into similarly.
Avatar f tn Hi! Everyone I started getting pain in the lower left side of my stomach and left knee last night, I woke up with said pain and it hasn't stop as of yet,HELP PLEASE.....
Avatar f tn About 6 weeks ago I went to a chiropractor for some slight back pain and found out that I have severe inflammation all throughout my back, as well as a tilted pelvis, my left knee rotates outward and that causes my left foot arch to collapse. I went through about 4 sessions of treatment before I called it quits because my back and knee were in major pain and the dr kept pushing costly treatments. I plan on attending a Physical Therapist this summer once I can afford it.
Avatar m tn The regular arthritis pain increases gradually when the patient is walking and prevents walking altogether after about 15 yards. The grabbing pain is additional to the regular pain. The only relief for the pain is sitting. Lying down, getting up, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, any movement may cause the grabbing pain unexpectedly. It seems to radiate from the spine across the top of the hip and down the right leg.
Avatar m tn I have been having pain along the outside of my leg area from the thigh to above the knee, both sides, It feels like a bruise, area but not, just sore. sitting and laying down it is also sore, along with walking. what can this be? age63.
Avatar f tn Hello, I've just started having pain on the outside of my right knee I was playing boo with my son when I first felt a sharp pain, over the week each time I kneel down I feel a hard throbbing pain, when rubbed it throbs and also when bent, when the leg is straight it's fine! My knee clicks now and again and when I feel the knee cap it feels like it's grinding, does anyone have any ideas what this could be, my partner seems to think it could be my cartilage!
Avatar f tn However, yesterday when I was running, I suddenly started getting sharp stabbing pain only on the outside of my right knee. My knee is NOT swollen at all, I can easily bend my knee and pushing all over it causes no pain. It only stabs when I'm jogging on that leg. Today it was way worse. It's not bad when I walk, but it's over the top when I run. The hip/upper femur pain is constantly present, but worse when I sit.

604489 tn?1220023514 I'm not a doctor but I get pain on the outside of my knee which goes down the side of the leg and sometimes radiates to the center. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis and illiotibial band tendonitis. Do you exercise or run? If so, it could be ITB tendonitis.
Avatar m tn It is a very light feeling, but it causes pain in the anterior region of my knee. I used to be able to squat, jump, run and everything but now I cant really do much and it is super depressing. I am personally suspecting that it is a minor meniscus tear that hasn't been diagnosed or treated properly. I have been to two orthopedic specialists and each time I've gone they haven't been able to give me a diagnosis or anything.
Avatar n tn m now 32). The pain started below my knee, and is now accompanied with pain shooting down my shin. It also now feels as if something from the top of my knee is pulling as well. I am hurting, and I don't know what else to do. I am also taking Naperson (sp?), which is not helping. I can't take anything more than that, because pain meds knock me on my butt & I don't want that. Please help with other suggestions while I await my doctors appointment.
