Knee pain causes gout

Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain causes gout

knee-pain

Avatar n tn Hi, at this age the cause of knee pain are arthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, reactive arthritis, bursitis etc. As you don't have history of recent trauma, it is unlikely to be ligament or meniscus tear. Investigations like MRI, blood tests like ESR, RF, ANA etc are done to find out causes related to autoimmune diseases. Try cold compression, crepe bandage and pain killers like diclofenac etc.
Avatar f tn When I get it in my toes, just a sheet over the toes causes severe pain. In fact, there is nothing that helps the pain subside for me unless I take corticosteroids. This is not something I would take while treating with Harvoni. It mainly affects men, but women can get it as well. Usually for women, it occurs after menopause. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn Causes of knee swelling include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, pseudogout, infection, trauma, and tumors. Causes of generalized swelling (edema) include heart failure, kidney failure, and liver failure (cirrhosis).
Avatar n tn Hi, It is good that xray and MRI of the knee and other tests showed good results. Was there blood test done? This will help rule out infection or presence of gout. Knee pain usually results from arthritis (rheumatoid, osteoarthritis, and gout), baker's cyst, bursitis, connective tissue disorders such as lupus, dislocation of the kneecap, iIliotibial band syndrome, infection or any trauma or abnormalities in the structures in the knee.
Avatar f tn I have been on colchicine since 7/7 and Allopurinol since 7/21. I have alot of pain in my lower back to the back of my Knee and now my fingers are hurting. My question is how long does this last and once i get the gout flareup under control will i still have the milder pain of the arthritis? I am kind of confused about this. Also at the same time -- I am now being treated for high blood pressure because my creatinine is at 1.13.
672393 tn?1300744926 However, High uric acid levels isn’t the only thing that causes gout. Gout can be anywhere in your body. Eat eggs for protein and cut the meat.
Avatar m tn I agree that there are multiple causes of knee and back pain. I will offer what I have learned about knee and back pain. Degenerative diseases like Degenerative Disc Disease of the back and Degenerative Joint Disease can lead to arthritis. Arthritis is an inflamation and degeneration is a tearing down so to speak of parts of a joint, When the lining of the knee joint becomes inflamed it is sinovitis and this can become an arthritic joint..
Avatar f tn Hi, how old are you? Any family history of arthritis? Usually multiple joints are involved in rheumatoid arthritis, it is autoimmune disorder. Investigations like ESR, RA factor and X ray of relevant joint is undertaken. Other possibility is gout, but in gout usually single joint is involved. Please consult orthopedic surgeon.
712802 tn?1274645485 For most people, gout pain usually shows up first in the joints of the big toe. However, as gout progresses, and more and more uric acid builds in the system, it has to find other joints where it can go. This means you might get gout pain in other places that can cause even more pain than that which you might feel when it is in your toe.One of the first things many do when they have gout and hip joint pain is take NSAIDS.
Avatar n tn Hi Dr Ghosh My dad just came home today, and he told me that the pain is the same pain he felt while he had a gout attack in September, however, it's not on his right knee anymore. He's feeling the pain on the front area of his foot/big toe and the toe next to it. Is this still gout?
543791 tn?1216381777 Is it possible to have Gout without the redness and swelling? I have sudden onset of Toe pains. Mostly beginning at night. I have a burning/throbbing pain and also skin sensitivity around the area. I can be painful to have a sock or bed sheets touching my foot. I've had this occur in both feet and it has attacked different toes. It doesn't really feel like a joint pain so I'm just confused about what is going on. It's very painful but I don't see any visual changes.
Avatar f tn Knee pain usually results from overuse, poor form during physical activity, not warming up or cooling down, or inadequate stretching. Simple causes of knee pain often clear up on their own with self care. Being overweight can put you at greater risk for knee problems. With the symptoms you mentioned I feel it could be tendinitis or arthritis or bursitis. Arthritis can be secondary to many diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, gout, injury, infections etc.
Avatar n tn The episodes do not occur with drinking from what I can tell. The pain is not localized in one specific area of my knee either it is my entire knee. I experience extreme swelling with very little motion allowed if any at all. I hope that helps.
1688482 tn?1305705150 High uric acid build up causes inflammed joints..also known as gout... It typically affects the big toe, knee, and other parts of the foot. I just got over my episode of gout. You may need to get a blood test just in case it's related to kidney disease but most common it is from eating too much red meat, alcoholic beverages especially beer, soy sauce, soybean products... and more you'll be surprised.
Avatar m tn I am 40 years old and moderate activity , The pain in the left knee is not severe but the pain in the right knee is . Actully pain in the left knee is almost gone .I can take 40 mg of indocin and the pain subsides but when it comes back its just as bad , I am trying to get into a orto again but its a waiting list over 2 months and this is really starting to affect me , Is it ok to keep taking the indocin like this till I can get someone to look at this ?
Avatar n tn There could be various causes for this knee numbness including localized and systemic. Check with an orthopaedician to rule out kneecap dislocation, inflammation of the overlying bursa or attached tendon heads, any strains or sprains. Bursitis is usually triggered by trauma, overuse, gout or rheumatoid arthiritis. After a complete local examination, you will need assessment by a physician for autoimmune disorders like lupus particularly if you have fatigue, pain and swollen joints.
517981 tn?1216782018 If you notice my other posts you will see things have sucked for me lately. Gall Bladder surgery gone wrong, severe back pain which can't be repaired, MRSA what else can go wrong well Gout, last week my knee swelled up really big, I assumed I wrenched it but finally went to the dr.s she drained and luckily sent it for analysis. She was concerned about MRSA in the joint.. Today I went to the dr.s for a recheck on the MRSA and the dr.
Avatar m tn Hi. Last night my big toe has started to hurt incredibly bad. I can't bend it and keeping my foot in the air has causes it to give me immense pain. I know I've been not drinking water (dehydrated) and eating once a day for the past week and I'm afraid it might be gout considering the pain is mostly centralized in the joint that connects the toe to my foot.
Avatar f tn It could be a ligament or cartilage problem or displacement of the knee cap or even arthritis. There are other medical conditions that can cause knee pain. Do you suffer from gout at all, is the knee inflamed and red or just painful? I would advise you see your doctor for a proper diagnosis. Your doctor may refer you for xray. I have osteoarthritis in both knees, but my right knee is the worst.
Avatar f tn This does reduce the uric acid level in your system which causes the gout pain. I have proven this by having blood tests one year apart, and always had a high uric acid level but after taking the cherry concentrate the level was NORMAL. The doctor was amazed. You will know if you have gout, believe me!
Avatar n tn um i woke up a few day ago and also had very bad knee pain and wrist pain on the right side. i could hardly stand.but there was no swelling . I am already on a steroid for another medical issue. right now i am being tested for a muscular disease and do not have the results yet. i also have a pinching, tearing, sorta pain in my left lower abdomen alot and the doctors still dont know what that is etheir.
Avatar f tn At first the doctors x-rayed it and came back normal, then I had a ultrasound done to check for blood clots. Then they diagnosed me with Gout, but tested me for it and it was also negative. The swelling went away about 4 months ago, but in the last month it has gotten swollen again, very painful. To describe the pain is like someone stepping on the top of your foot, but never getting off. Now the swelling seems to be top of foot, toes, ankle and the pain radiates through my leg.
Avatar n tn What causes pain and crunching noise on my shoulder joints and my foot joints and my knee?
Avatar n tn I have been having trouble with my left knee for over a month. I have been to the doctor and he examined it and said he didn't feel anything torn or out of place and he ordered x-rays that came back okay. However I still have severe swelling by the end of the day and I have a bulge on the lower outside of the knee that is always there (much more pronounced by the end of the day). It is also very stiff if I extend the leg fully or bend it back completely.
107366 tn?1305680375 Anyway, the Allopurinol does not seem to be stopping the attacks. I have had gout twice in my knee in the past two months, several times in my ankles, and now in my wrists. I have Indocin for the inflammation, but all that seems to do is make my stomach upset. I also have Prednisone, but long term use of it causes a whole other set of problems. I'm looking for suggestions on anything else I might be able to do, or any other medication I can talk to my doctor about that might help.
Avatar n tn Have the possibility of the original knee swelling being gout and the pain being a kidney stone been addressed? Uric Acid can form kidney stones. Gout can occur in joints other than the big toe. I take Alopurinol to prevent Uric Acid buildup. My knee gets affected more often than my toe. When I have a kidney stone, I get referred pain in my shoulder and radiating up my neck to behind my ear.
