4113881 tn?1415850276 I have chronic knee pain...Ive been in physical therapy since last stinking year! I bought a TENS machine...I ice....heat....NSAID's....I use all the hocus pocus...snake oil...blah blah....NADA works! So...here I am thinking whats my next move. PRP injections cost anywheres from $500-$6000. Athletes get them all the time and are back on the field...but insurance doesn't cover it (To my knowledge) Before I break the bank...
Avatar n tn The ACL is critical for knee function in athletes who require knee stability in activities such as running, cutting, jumping, and kicking. The ACL originates on the posteromedial aspect of the lateral femoral condyle and inserts anterior to and between the intercondylar eminences of the tibia. The ACL is composed of 2 bundles, an anteromedial bundle and a posterolateral bundle. What did the orthopaedician say which one is affected? What kind of imaging study is being done?
569793 tn?1216887381 Things went well for the next two weeks and then I started to experience swelling around my knee. No pain, only swelling. After the season I took 5 weeks off like my doctor said, no activity whatsoever, only walking. I slowly started to ease my way back into playing, weight lifting to strengthen the muscles and running. The first two weeks were fantastic, no swelling. I took a day off and woke up the next day with swelling, for no reason.
Avatar m tn Last night I had a pain under my leg almost behind my knee a lil to the right... I felt it and there was a small lil knot there... I went to test at the 3 week mark just to see if they could tell me if I had swollen nodes in my arm... The lady felt around my neck shoulders and armpit... I had a pain in my left armpit and it kinda went away now... But i did feel a lil jello circle around there... She said I didnt have swollen nodes and that they would feel like marbles and they wouldnt hurt....
Avatar f tn So as you can see, arthritis can cause an overall knee pain. Ligament injury causes pain to worsen on walking, bending and stretching the knee. Meniscii too if torn or injured, result in joint instability—that is you are not confident the knee joint will take your weight. Often the person feels a popping sensation on moving the joint. It can also be tendinitis due to inflammation of tendon at the knee joint.
Avatar n tn You may experience a loud, painful pop when the ligament is first injured, followed by swelling of the knee. The pain and swelling of an ACL injury can last for several weeks. Short-term treatment can relieve the pain and inflammation, but it takes months for an ACL injury to heal completely. Initial treatment for an ACL injury aims to reduce pain and swelling in the knee, regain normal joint movement and strengthen the muscles around the knee.

Avatar f tn I ran a spring tri about a year and a half ago.. at which time I pulled my groin, as athletes know "taking time off" usually is not a word in our vocabulary bank.. as the year went by I continued to run on the pull groin to the point that I could not run anymore and was forced to take a week off. For the last 6 months I have been able to crack, pop, click, my medial aspect of my groin. I have had MRI performed and X-rays.. Have been to 3 Drs.
Avatar n tn This may occur in runners and also is more common in athletes, especially in sports that involve jumping and in people who do a lot of walking. If it persists and other symptoms occur such as pain and swelling, have this evaluated further for proper management. A complete physical examination must be done to reach a diagnosis. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Hello, About 6 months ago I started to do some running and after the first month or so started getting pain above my knee, so I stopped. Since then the pain hasn't gone away and I'm getting desperate now as nothing seems to work. The pain is at its worst when going down stairs, steep hills, or when I put weight on it such as in a lunge or squat. It's had periods of getting better then when I think I'm going to be pain free it always gets worse.
Avatar f tn Hi! Everyone I started getting pain in the lower left side of my stomach and left knee last night, I woke up with said pain and it hasn't stop as of yet,HELP PLEASE.....
Avatar m tn The first question is, what kind of surgery did he get? If he got that quick in the office laparoscopy that allows you to go back to activities in two weeks he never actually got the meniscus fixed really. It's quick but it doesn't hold up if you keep doing things that are hard on the knee -- it leaves the meniscus weaker. Actually, all surgeries tend to leave whatever was operated on weaker, as doctors can't usually do better than nature did.
Avatar n tn Top NYC Orthopedic Surgeon felt loose peroneal nerve in knee. Doctor has never heard of this condition and has referred me to Giants top knee doc. Had MRI, showed thinning of posterior ligament. Should mention the the injury is most likely sports related. I am collegiate wrestler. Has anyone ever heard of a LOOSE PERONEAL NERVE?
Avatar n tn m now 32). The pain started below my knee, and is now accompanied with pain shooting down my shin. It also now feels as if something from the top of my knee is pulling as well. I am hurting, and I don't know what else to do. I am also taking Naperson (sp?), which is not helping. I can't take anything more than that, because pain meds knock me on my butt & I don't want that. Please help with other suggestions while I await my doctors appointment.
Avatar f tn These meniscus functions to distribute your body weight across the knee joint. The two most common causes of a meniscus tear are due to traumatic injury (often seen in athletes) and degenerative processes (seen in older patients who have more brittle cartilage).
Avatar m tn Hello! I'm 14 and I've been having knee pain for 2 years. One doctor told me it's growing pains but I don't really believe it, becuase I don't grow much anymore. The second doctor told me it's because I don't have enough synovial fluid in my knee joints and he offered me injections. I don't know what to do. What if there's something else that causes this pain? I've also got knock knees. Can this be the problem? Please help me!
Avatar m tn I had knee pain in outer side of knee while playing soccer. I took serratiopeptidase + diclofenac potassium capsule by doctors advice. I took rest for 2 weeks but when I started playing it started again. Please advice.
2063301 tn?1343833074 I am a 20 year old female with the weight of 96kgs. I started going to the gym 2 months ago and my trainer straightaway put me on squats, crunches and stair climbing along with 20 minutes of treadmill 6 days a week. It all started out fine but it's been a few days that I've developed this pain in my knees and lower back. But it isn't a consistent pain. My knees (especially the right one) hurt when I squat, get up to stand from a sitting position or climb or get off from the stairs.
Avatar f tn Pain in the back of the knee can be caused by arthritis or Bakers cysts (cystic accumulation of synovial fluid, also causes a swelling). So as you can see, arthritis can cause an overall knee pain. Ligament injury causes pain to worsen on walking, bending and stretching the knee. Meniscii too if torn or injured, result in joint instability—that is you are not confident the knee joint will take your weight. Often the person feels a popping sensation on moving the joint.

Avatar m tn Hi, I have pain in the tibia of my left leg, which I think is below the knee cap. The pain started when I was 18, after I got an injury during a basketball game. Now I'm 20 and I still feel the pain only when I engage in physical activity. What's wrong with me. Could these by osgood schlatters disease?
