Hi, at this age the cause of knee pain are arthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, reactive arthritis, bursitis etc. As you don't have history of recent trauma, it is unlikely to be ligament or meniscus tear.

Well just a couple of months ago my other knee started with the same problems. Just pain mostly. Then about 2 weeks ago I noticed my elbows were hurting. No swelling, but they get painful as they are today. Sometimes a couple of fingers hurt. Also, for the past few years my ear aches at night and I have to switch sides. The right side of my jaw hurts as well and I read that they were probably TMD.

Hello! I'm 14 and I've been having knee pain for 2 years. One doctor told me it's growing pains but I don't really believe it, becuase I don't grow much anymore. it takes years. Arthritis usually causes joint stiffness and pain. Are your joints in your hands affected by stiffness, also? Have you seen a doctor? Although, they might not know. My symptoms are undiagnoses and I have conflicting diagnoses from every doctor. So whatever the doctor says, be sure to get more opinions and do research on your own, too. Hope this helps.

There are so many different reasons that could be the cause of your knee pain. Arthritis, Ligament issues, Cartilage or Meniscus tears, Chondromalacia Patella (knee cap) Bursitis and the list goes on. I don't know your age but my first guess would be arthritis, especially because of the way you describe it. Often when arthritis begins it will be after you rest an fairly active knee. And yes you can have it in just one knee.
Hello, I'm 14 years old and i have had pain in my knees, hips, and now on the side of my right shin. I started having pain in my left knee in December of '08. Then my right knee started hurting. Then both of my hips. MY hips are the ones that hurt the most now, not so much my knees anymore. I've been in ballet for 9 yrs also. I've had x-rays (sunrise, and lateral?), blood tests for arthritis but nothing came up.
