Knee pain after training

Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain after training

knee-pain

Avatar m tn I was just walking up stairs after a short jog about 100m and my knee began to lock up and have intense pain that day. I fought through the pain that day and made it to the next day of training. The pain subsided to the point that i was able to make it through the 4 mile run the next day and so on and so forth. I am about 5 weeks into the training now and have good days and bad days. The pain never really goes away and from what i have learned is that it is probably my IT band.
Avatar f tn however I now find that when I kneel on my right knee I get a needle like pain - similar to the feeling of a plaster being ripped off my knee on right side. I can run, jump etc but kneeling is excruciating. Can anyone advise if this is temporary - that some rest might fix or could I have damaged something requiring further investigation. Part of my knee is also numb since fall and have throbbing sensation but no swelling.
Avatar f tn I have no idea what to do about my knee pain, i went for lifeguard training today and i cant even push myself because my knee give out even with swimming :( im sick of this pain :(((
Avatar n tn When I bend the knee beyond 90 degrees I have a sharp pain on the lateral side of the knee cap. I have tried to be positive, but I don't see things getting better. It is very frustrating since I too thought things would be better than when I went in for the partials. It is like I have a tourniquet wrapped around my leg just below my knee. I ice every night and even heat pack for relief. I have tried five different PT's with not one knowing finding the answer.
Avatar m tn Pain, swelling, popping sound in the knee could be due to arthritis, as it is the most common cause of pain in the knee after recurrent injuries to the knee. Burning, tingling and radiation of the pain to the hip and ankle relates to compression of nerve. I would suggest that you visit a orthopedician and get x-ray and MRI of the knee to confirm with the diagnosis. All the best.
Avatar m tn This happens due to mal-alignment of the knee cap on bending the knee (and hence any imaging study has to be taken with the knee bent), injury to the knee (you may have sustained it in past), flat feet, over tight or over lax muscles around the knee joint. All these aspects will have to be investigated by your doctor. Other possibilities are bursitis (inflammation of fluid filled sac over joints), tendonitis (inflammation of cords joining muscles to bones) or due to weakness of patellar bone.
Avatar f tn My knee is stiff and painful today underneath the knee cap where the pes anserine tendon inserts and to the inside of the knee cap (medially). I also have pain in the middle of the back of the knee, is especially sharp if I push into it. In terms of comfort and daily activities, I am having no trouble walking except that my knee will get a little swollen (very slight) and stiff if I walk a lot.
Avatar m tn Hi last wednesday i fell down only two steps on our stairs and landed on my right knee. only hurt for 10 mins and i thought normal bruise. i then went to footy training, and it was fine and i played through. but later that night it was aching. i think i have bruised it right on the side of the knee cap where you can push in (soft area). at no point in the injury has there been any bruising that is visible, no swelling, no redness, but some pain.
Avatar m tn ) Patella, which was an injury to the cartilage in the knee. Surgery took care of it mostly and after about 8-9 months after surgery I was almost as good as normal. Still have discomfort(on a small scale compared to before) from time to time, but nothing requiring even an ibuprofen to deal with. Hopefully, yours is as easily dealt with. My well wishes and respect to those still serving in the sandbox and beyond. Coming, for what its worth, from a Med Retired USN..You all do Us proud.
Avatar m tn Wile in the service during training I felt a sharp pain in my outer left knee. It was intence for awile but then it went away so ofcourse being mr military i did not complain. Now I am out of the military and trying ot get back in shape. I have noticed that if i try and jump and pull my left heal to my butt and down. I get a shap pain on the left side of my left knee. I dont' know how to explain the pain as anything except a stabbing feeling. Any help would be great on this subject.
Avatar m tn When I landed, i felt a sharp pain in the middle of my left knee. I did not feel any popping, just a very sharp pain right behidn the patella. I didn't think anything of it that day, and it never bruised or swelled. I laid off the knee for the remainder of the week, but when i started lifting the next week, anything that put stress on the knee hurt. Squats, Legpress, Deadlifts, they all hurt right at the middle of the knee behind the patella.
Avatar m tn I was still experiencing pain and tightness in my knee as well as in the quad tendon but have been able to resume training with running, squatting, jumping, etc. Laying on my back, lifting my leg, and bending my leg back and forth usually creates some discomfort and a little grinding in the knee. At night prior to going to bed I always stretch. The other night I was performing the couch stretch. During the stretch I heard and felt a very loud pop directly in my knee.

Avatar n tn I am 21 years old, and I play volleyball for about 10 years. Semi-pro, but very intensive trainings, also at summer beach volley... What also might be good to say, since I was a child I could (and still can) jump very high about a meter vertically. A few months ago, I started to have back pain, in my lower spine, and horrible knee pain.
Avatar m tn My four years kid lately is suffering from knee pain started on one knee then for both knees and sometimes he cries. He loves soccer. He is having soccer training in the club 3 times weekly for about 1:30 hours each session and he wears soccer shoes from about 4 months.
Avatar n tn About 3 weeks ago I started having some pain when staightening my left leg after my left knee had been bent. It got a little better then the knee started popping or catching with lateral movement. No pain with the popping, but it really feels odd. The pain in the knee from staightening it out has returned. Has anyone else experienced this problem? What did you do for it? I love to train but I don't want to do any perminate damage. Suggestions? Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn Years ago, my husband was given the runaround for his knee injury...2 years later, after a hellish nightmare with the doctors and insurance, he finally got approval for an MRI and they found out he needed arthroscopic surgery. He is 100% better today, thanks to that surgery (and his persistence).
Avatar f tn There was no pop or immediate/major swelling, but there was pain on the inside of the knee. I had a few episodes of the knee giving out and swelling eventually increased so 2 days after I went to an orthopedic doctor. He confirmed my suspicion that I had an MCL sprain, but said I may have also injured my ACL and meniscus.
Avatar f tn The next day my mother tried to make me carry on as normal but only after consistently telling her how bad the pain the pain was did she take me to the hospital to get a knee brace and pain killers (the first of many). The nurses at the hospital gave me a small knee brace and refused to listen to me because the brace was supposed to be tight enough to support the knee.
Avatar f tn Had RK microfracture & LK OATS. Somewhat able to do things with tolerable pain level. Started back with the floor pilaties & yoga. Too much stretching I guess. I started where you are with similiar discomforts. Then started to hurt behind the knee and on the lateral side. Now...I can't stand without both knee fatique and pain, i can't walk without pain. It has ruined me! I'm walking with braces and oh boy if i have to go up or down stairs, HELP~!
Avatar n tn In some individuals, the kneecap tends to rub against one side of the knee joint, and the cartilage surface become irritated, and knee pain is the result. Allowing the inflammation of chondromalacia to settle is the first step of treatment. Avoiding painful activities that irritate the knee for several weeks, followed by a gradual return to activity is important. In this time, cross-training activities, such as swimming, can allow an athlete to maintain their fitness while resting the knee.
Avatar f tn Only ONE knee hurts? Which part of your knee hurts? Front, back or sides of knee cap? It only hurts WHILE you run? What is the end result when you are done? Shaking after you run is not uncommon and is usually a sign you were running on empty during your practice. It's the after affect of that. Lactic acid builds up. Do you do anything for recovery? My son's coach instructs them to drink a bottle of chocolate milk for recovery post run.
Avatar m tn I'm 25 years old and i play rugby. Over the past couple of years i've racked up a fair few injurys playing rugby - Ligaments in my left ankle, Ligaments in the back of my left knee, Dislocated left shoulder, back spasms and now have mild sciatica in my left bum cheek. (which i think has something to do with my back spasm, anyways).
