Avatar f tn I was told by one position that I could not have a knee replacement unless they did a Fulkerson because my knee was not tracking properly. I now assume he was referring to a partial knee replacement. As I've been referred to a position for total knee replacement because the Fulkerson did not completely resolve my pain and improve my mobility.
Avatar f tn Hello there.. I’m 12 weeks post op of corrective knee Osteotomy, and I’ve only been allowed to partial weight Bear of about 30kg, but I mistakenly lost my balance and fully weight beared my question is, have I completely messed up my surgery? There isn’t any pain but in worried I may have strained the internal fixation due to the amount of weight kindly note I am heavy about 90kg so that’s why why I’m worried, how strong are theses fixations?

Avatar f tn Hi there. This seems to be knock knees or genu valgum. It may be idiopathic or because of disease like obesity or rickets. It may also be seen in association with certain syndromes. If this is disabling and interfering with your daily activities, you need to undergo a corrective osteotomy. Consult your orthopaedician to examine you in detail and he would be able to advise you aptly. Take care.
Avatar f tn Did you have to have an additional surgery after you had the Radial Shortening Osteotomy? How long after having the Radial Shortening Osteotomy did you know the surgery actually worked? How has everyone’s recovery been? Sorry for the long post.
Avatar n tn What is the recovery period after knee surgery for full thickness articular cartilage defect
Avatar f tn I had knee surgery (tibial tuberosity osteotomy with lateral release) 4 weeks ago. Was wanting to hear from other people who have gone through the same procedure. 4 weeks on I can bend my knee about 30 degrees and I am getting a bit more voluntary control of the muscles around my patella. My knee is still a bit swollen and I am still icing 2-3 times per day. I go back to see my surgeon in 2 weeks and would like to know if others have been referred to the physio sooner as this will be 5.
Avatar n tn Aching pain at and below the patella. Difficulty straightening the knee. Pain is most servere when putting weight or pressure on it. Pain can be felt when climbing up the stairs, jumping, running and standing for prolonged periods. In addition, pain can be felt behind the knee cap. I've had blows to the front and side of the knees before when playing soccer. The Orthopaedic diagnosed me with having Patella Tendonosis. However, I'm seriously starting to doubt the diagnosis.
Avatar m tn Hello, I had flat foot reconstruction in April 2012. This involved a medial calcaneal displacement osteotomy, lateral column lengthening (Evan's procedure), debridement of the posterior tibial tendon (left intact) and a transfer of the FDL tendon to a hole in the navicular bone (the FDL was sutured to itself through the hole and sutured to the posterior tibial muscle.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately it was open surgery and after the lateral release went wrong I suffered terrible swelling, leg pain, hip pain etc. I had corrective surgery, Fulkerson Osteotomy a year ago and still go to physiotheraphy. I had an episode of palpitations a month after my first surgery, went to ER with a resting pulse of 180, saw a cardio and had a holter fitted for a day without any diagnosis. I was diagnosed with panic attack and given medicine but didn't use it bc it made me like a vegetable.
Avatar m tn Hi, ‘bowing’ leads to increased load on the inner side of the knee causing further wear and tear. In this entire process, the outer side of the knee joint is virtually intact. Osteotomy is now available for patients who have not reached the last stages of arthritis. This involves realigning i.e. straightening the bowed knee the knee in such a manner that the load on the inner side of the knee is transferred to the outer side of the knee.
Avatar f tn Two yrs ago March 2008 I had a Weil osteotomy at a state hospital. Unfortunately, there was a complication in that I got infection and the 11 mm screw was removed. Nearly two years later, I am not able to walk properly or much without pain in that there is a callus under the foot in the I think "third metatarsal" area. The operation was on the 2nd toe, the toe next to my big toe. It was a small hammer toe.
Avatar n tn My dog had two TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) procedures for cruciate ligaments in his knees. Metal implants were screwed into the bones in his knees. A reaction to the metal in his right leg required the implant to be removed. The implant in his left knee was NOT removed.... and osteosarcoma formed at the site of the implant. Has anyone else experienced this terrible cancer from having this procedure? Amputation and thousands of dollars later could not save his life....
1669542 tn?1303566014 After an auto accident in September diagnosed as a severly comminuted intra articular fx of right distal radius. I had ORIF surgery 5 days later. After many months of PT still pain especially ulnar sided. Diagnosed with ulnar impaction syndrome as the Radius shortened. There is a question of a screw possibly going into the joint, as I have pain when curling my wrist inward. Just had a ct and on the 3d view there is a piece on the dorsal side that appears to be malalligned.
Avatar n tn Sometimes also, due to the abnormal motion at the knee after the ACL tears, the meniscus (cartilage cushion) in the knee is also damaged. This may also need partial debridement at surgery. These manipulations are at least as important as the method of stabilization. TPLO is "tibial plateau leveling osteotomy" and involves cutting the bone itself, changing the angles that the bones relate to each other in the knee and creating stability that way.
Avatar n tn I swtiched doctors and changed from an ortho to a podiatrist when I was having plantar type pain. After extensive nerve tests it was determined to be tarsal tunnel. I was scared to have the surgery because of my swelling issue. It's not HUGE, but I do have a lymphodema pump to help when it gets really bad. I can still wear shoes, etc, but they have to be open back because of the nerve pain I feel at the incision.
Avatar m tn For symptomatic recurrent posterior instability the surgeons would be doing Posterior capsulorrhaphy (Suture of a tear in a capsule, especially to prevent recurring dislocation), Posterior bone block procedures (glenoid bone stock deficiency), Rotational osteotomy of the proximal humerus (excessive retrotorsion of the proximal humerus) and Posterior glenoid osteotomy (abnormal glenoid retroversion).
Avatar m tn I was in pain management for 6 months after my partial replacement, before I opted out of that because I didn't want to be dependent on pain medication to mask a permenant problem. Just so everyone knows, there is a HUGE difference between an addiction and a dependency when you are living with excruciating pain!) After close to two years, I decided I couldn't bare to continue living life the way I was living.
Avatar f tn I had my right knee TKR in June 2010, I cannot recall what the pain was pre-op, but I do know that it is very bad and has been since surgery. I have fairly good function with the knee and am able to do the work I love (I would be very depressed to lose that) but work is the whole of my life as it HURTS during the work day and it takes the rest of my day to 'recover' somewhat. I have pain in the night quite often and pain upon waking.
Avatar n tn What was your osteotomy for? The clicking jaw and pain could be due to the surgery. This is something you should follow up with the treating surgeon.
Avatar f tn Doctors told me that in kids knee pain can be defered from the hip foot ankle or it can be the knee. They kept a close eye on the other hip thinking it may slip also. It is hard for him to accurately express where the pain is. After xraying both hips they found the pin in the right hip had grown out of place and needed to be repinned at the same time they suggested pinning the other hip as a precaution.
Avatar n tn Hey all! I had 1st metatarsal osteotomy ("boat" is written on my surgical consent form) on Jan 27th. I did 6 weeks non weight bearing and had an x-ray at my 6 week follow-up where my surgeon gave me the go ahead to start walking again. 6 weeks later, still swollen and in pain, I went for my 12 week follow-up where I was told my toe was dislocated (hallux varus) and I'd need surgery again.
