Avatar f tn I have pain in both knees and limited movement in both. The pain has not gotten any better with time. I did have an injection of steroids about 6 months ago that helped some but things have not gotten any better since. Has anyone else had this sort of problem?
Avatar m tn Are you having any swelling, redness or warmth to your knee? Aside from the pain from the pant leg rubbing, is there pain or tightness with movement?
Avatar f tn My sister has just had a TKR can you please tell me what degree of knee movement should be expected 2 weeks after? should she expect 110 degree of movement down the track? Is an MUA common in assisting patients that are experiencing minimal movement? Will she always have pain associated with that knee? She suffered RSDS in the first TKR 9 years ago that knee is totally stuffed that was the opposite knee to this recent one.
Avatar m tn I've recently started skateboarding again its been about 4 months and I usually skate at most twice a week. Lately I've been feeling pain on the outside of my right knee after about an hour of skating. I've realized I usually land on my right leg if I'm jumping off a trick that I know I'm not going to land and this happens repeatedly. My right leg is my front leg when skating so when I land on it I'm also stopping my forward movement.
Avatar m tn This past weekend I fell while riding a motorcycle. My knee was hit, but it didn't feel very serious at all as I am able to walk fine with very minor pain. There is little swelling and a few scratches because I was wearing jeans during the fall. My knee however is numb. I've applied ice for the past two days but hasn't seen any improvement.
Avatar m tn The pain from initially getting up starts when I use my crutches. My ankle hurts and the leg does as well. After 10 minutes or so, the pain subsides. It is not this painful throughout the day. If I have my leg sitting a certain way it will start but if I elevate the foot and move my toes around it goes away. There is usually no further tenderness either. I was just worried it may be a blood clot. Or is this typical of an injury like this?
Avatar f tn The knee xray showed no fracture or other issue - the reason for another doctor ordering xrays was that I am unable to put any direct weight on the knee (kneel on it) and it graunches and carries on when moving it, though this causes no pain. I have no pain on movement, the bruise that was present for six weeks has gone and it is no longer swollen but still this problem remains. Any suggestions as to what it may be?
Avatar m tn It started two days ago after finishing a hike with steep declines and seems to happen most with lateral movement. I can see it move when I lay down and bend my knee slowly and it appears to be a tendon (or vein or nerve maybe) passing over a bone. There is no sound when this happens. It does not hurt, but it is uncomfortable and my knee feels a little weak (although this may be in my head). It does not seem to be getting better or worse since I noticed it.
Avatar m tn Is the pain under your knee cap or tendon? From what you are saying it sounds like your saying under your knee cap. You could have patellofemoral syndrome; very common for cyclists (read your bio). Try this website. http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/sma/sma_patellod_sma.
Avatar m tn His left knee can only bend about 20 degrees before sharp pain sets in, while his right knee can bend about 60 or 70 degrees before feeling pain. He's been seeing a physio but the severe pain and limited range of motion in his left knee bothers me. His knee feels stiff and sore and he struggles to move the left leg. I'd like to hear from an orthopedic expert, are there any obvious "mistakes" that can be made during this kind of surgery?
Avatar m tn My mother is 58 years of age. She has pain in her left knee for almost last one year and this leg is swollen for same period. We consulted various doctors (including ortho.) but there is no improvement. X-ray was done and she has been treated by doctors for crack in skin and infection, but there is no improvement. She can not put her full weight on right leg and can not move on stairs. There is small history of one injury in her legs.
Avatar f tn I had a partial knee replacement last May, I still have pain soreness at the implant site specifically and STIFFNESS! It is difficult to do any walking around without it swelling for 2-3 days sometime longer. I have a friend who is a physical therapist and said the key is following through with the knee exercises daily the first year and as needed weekly from then on but remember to ice pack the knee following exercise. I am still unable to work at a job that requires walking or standing.
Avatar n tn Hi! I have been searching the internet for answers and am so glad to have found this blog. I am 49 yrs old and had to have a partial knee replacement in Aug of 2015, I started having swelling that would subside a month after surgery. I told my physical therapist how limited I was but didn't go back to the surgeon to rule out infection until Feb 2015. Putting kids first. Right away they thought no infection because my knee wasn't red or hot.
Avatar n tn i play about 2 or more hours at a time, everything is fine the first hr or hour and a half. After that the side of my knee begins to hurt and after a while i cant put any weight on it. My lateral movement is almost completely gone and then i can barely walk. Afterwards that whole night im in severe pain, worse after sitting for a bit and trying to stand up. Up until today everytime that would happen the next day my knee would be perfectly fine, this time it stayed sore for longer than ususal.
Avatar m tn I have constant knee pain, swelling and my knee gives away. The pain is primarily on the inner side of the knee. I have had several kneesurgeries, one in the last 6months that was supposed to fix all these issues. I have been told its just arthritis, however after surgery i was told no signs of arhritis. a physical therapist told me i have a loose mcl. what to do?
Avatar m tn After three years of chasing down the source of leg and foot pain and one back operation, I am told that my problem may be in the knee. The good news is that the doctors seem to have found a bone growth which is pushing on the peroneal nerve . A nerve block is scheduled to further confirm that hypothesis. The bad news is that the knee orthopedic surgeon says that he is nervous about operating in the popliteal cavity with its mess of nerves and blood vessels.
Avatar m tn i started to get a jolting sharp pain on my left knee i think coming from the knee cap or around the sides of the knee cap. it went away the next day but came back again few days later...... it seems to come when i just walk on the knee not every step but a certain pressure of my steps. Someone please help dancing is my Job and before i dish out money to a doctor i would like to try to understand what im dealing with. PLEASE HELP!
Avatar f tn But no use, then had advised me to wear knee cap for few days. I was feeling better with knee cap. I removed it after 25 days, it was little better for 2 days, then again the pain is back. After few days, went to orthopedic, he said no problems and advised me to do some exercises. Then also no use. I have still have the pain in my knee and following parts....couldn't talk for more than 10 mins. Could you please advise me how to solve this and become normal.
Avatar n tn I have looked for patterns to try to self-diagnose, such as hydration levels, with no success. The pain often begins in my knee as a dull ache that can be temporarily alleviated by putting pressure on the patellar tendon, but then will radiate into either my hip or ankle. NSAID's seem to help sometimes. However, today I woke up with excruciating pain in my quad. It is not a cramp because there are no knots on palpation and stretching does not help.
Avatar m tn We have tried our best to prevent excessive movement. She only goes out for bathroom breaks. Soon after the procedure I noticed a slight limp and sometimes she would lift one of her hind paws completely off the ground. What's weird is that she'd run or walk fine and then, just lift it and put her ears back and sit down. This morning has been particularly hard for her to get up and i'm beginning to be concerned. I check the wound from the procedure which seems to be drying.
Avatar n tn Also, I just walked through the building here and after it loosened up enough, I noticed a lot of movement - clicking around. Not audible, but definitely happening in the upper knee behind the patella.
Avatar n tn It got a little better then the knee started popping or catching with lateral movement. No pain with the popping, but it really feels odd. The pain in the knee from staightening it out has returned. Has anyone else experienced this problem? What did you do for it? I love to train but I don't want to do any perminate damage. Suggestions? Thank you in advance.
Avatar n tn I had my first series of synvisc injections in1998 .they greatly reduced my pain prior to a full knee replacement. The other knee bothered me and i had injections I think 1999. they worked for about 18 months.I then had another series and have not had any further problems with the knee.I have been taking glucosamine chondroitin since 1984.It did not help the left knee before surgery, but it greatly helped the movement and eliminated the pain in my hands until this past winter.
