Knee pain after labor

Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain after labor

knee-pain

Avatar f tn I had my right knee TKR in June 2010, I cannot recall what the pain was pre-op, but I do know that it is very bad and has been since surgery. I have fairly good function with the knee and am able to do the work I love (I would be very depressed to lose that) but work is the whole of my life as it HURTS during the work day and it takes the rest of my day to 'recover' somewhat. I have pain in the night quite often and pain upon waking.

Avatar f tn I hate to read you are suffering. A knee replacement is suppose to improve your function and it does not sound like that has been your experience. Have you talked to your doctor about your symptoms? Has he/she given you any feedback? I have not had a knee replaced but hope someone here who has will write to you. You might also post in the orthopedics forum as I know they talk about joint replacements there as well.
Avatar f tn Hi JB, Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. I am glad that you have found us but very sorry to hear about your knee pain. In my personal opinion it is always best to get a second opinion when you have questions or are unsure what direction to go. It just can't hurt. Maybe he/she will have another option for you and a new set of eyes, experience and thoughts cannot be detrimental. "Bad knees" and TKR strongly run in my family. Each memeber has had a bit different experience.
Avatar m tn I've recently started skateboarding again its been about 4 months and I usually skate at most twice a week. Lately I've been feeling pain on the outside of my right knee after about an hour of skating. I've realized I usually land on my right leg if I'm jumping off a trick that I know I'm not going to land and this happens repeatedly. My right leg is my front leg when skating so when I land on it I'm also stopping my forward movement.
Avatar n tn About a year ago, everytime I walked for a straight 10 - 15 minutes I would be unable to bend my knee because of the pain. However, I would slowly keep trying and after 1/2 hour to an hour it would be ok. Over the course of the year the time got longer for it taking me to be able to bend my knee again. Soon, it wouldn't take much and I couldn't bend my knee at all. I have had an x-ray where the NURSE told me I had arthritis and inflamation.
Avatar n tn When I bend the knee beyond 90 degrees I have a sharp pain on the lateral side of the knee cap. I have tried to be positive, but I don't see things getting better. It is very frustrating since I too thought things would be better than when I went in for the partials. It is like I have a tourniquet wrapped around my leg just below my knee. I ice every night and even heat pack for relief. I have tried five different PT's with not one knowing finding the answer.
Avatar f tn My left was done in Janurary 2007 and my right knee was done in July 2007. Since the surgery I have had severe pain espically on the outside of the right knee. I have pain in both knees and limited movement in both. The pain has not gotten any better with time. I did have an injection of steroids about 6 months ago that helped some but things have not gotten any better since. Has anyone else had this sort of problem?
Avatar m tn I felt no discomfort then, but each day afterward for about a week I felt first pain on the lateral side of the knee, then the pain moved to the medial side of the knee, now the only discomfort is on the posterior portion of the knee in the soft tissue with my leg straight as I walk. It was bad enough last week that I was limping, (almost ready for a cane) but it was intermittent. What happened to my knee and what should I do to heal it and for how long?
655727 tn?1283296048 It does not restore the same level of function that the person had before the damage to the knee joint began. The knee will not bend as far as it did before you developed knee problems, but the surgery will allow you to stand and walk for longer periods without pain. After surgery, you may be allowed to resume activities such as golfing, riding a bike, swimming, walking for exercise, dancing etc.
Avatar m tn I just had my second syncvisc gel injection and I still have quite a bit of pain. My knees seem stiffer than before and I am experiencing pain in the bend of my knee. I have one more injection to take and I am hoping that I will begin to feel a difference in pain.I did have bruising on both knees and fluid was draw off of my right knee before the second injection could be given.
Avatar m tn by any chance does that mean labor is getting closer or has nothing to do with it ?
Avatar m tn Hi! About 9 days ago I got a MCL (medial ligament) sprain on my left knee, doing sports, i'm in my mid 30s. Minor swelling and some pain to knee. The knee started feeling around 80% better about 3 days ago. I wore knee brace every day even to sleep, 2 days ago I changed to a more comfortable brace with those metal hinges on sides, also slept with it. My current issue/question, is 2 days ago I woke up with a swollen ankle and pain when putting leg down to walk.
Avatar f tn After surgery his knee looked like a football was in it for weeks and his foot is swollen also. He has constant pain. Had tests for infection, blood clots, which were negeative. Has be doing PT, but still cannot walk with a cane. Said it feels like his knee is going to give out. Is now on anti-inflammatory and swelling is going down. Doctors say "everyone is differant and it takes time to heal". They are talking about doing Manipulation if he does not improve.
Avatar n tn My sister had a petela and ligament reconstruction, plsu numerous other things done because of tears etc. found after going into the knee. Less than one week after surgery and after going to Physical therapy twice she started having a burning sensation on the shin below the knee that was operated on.
Avatar n tn Patients do have occasional pain after total knee replacement even if their total knees are healed flawlessly. Pain in the knee after total knee replacement can occur due to knee infection or loosening, resurfaced patella, with effusion in the joint occuring due to worn out polyethylene components, due to damage to the vessels and nerves around the knee etc. In case of infection antibiotics would help. In case of worn out polyethylene components may be reoperation could be considered.
Avatar m tn sudden knee pain during pt and continued pain interior medial aspect. medic took xrays - all ok. Soft tissue issues. therapist can feel the popping of (muscle, ligament, tendon???) during flexion and extension. It feels like something has to pop over something else for leg to straighten. It hurts when it does. Occurs during weight-beating and non weight bearing. Therapist says muscle may be increasing in bulk but not stretching out causing other soft tissues??? to have to pop over them.
