1773330 tn?1314171331 It takes a month for the chondritin to work but I never got the knee pain back after that. I also started putting gel heel inserts in my running shoes and that cusioned the knee too. hope this helps.
Avatar f tn At the time of the impact during my martial arts sparring session, my foot was planted to the floor when my knee jerked. There was no pain during the initial impact and just minor swelling the next day which went away as I practiced some more. It was only friday is when I was relaxing because of the swelling but still no pain with the expection of walking downstairs. Walking downstairs is where my knee feels a little tight and minor to moderate pain in the front of my knee.
Avatar n tn prior to the surgery i had throbbing knee pain in posterior right knee. they tried cortisone shots - 2nd one helped but wore off quickly. even after TKR i STILL have this pain. Cold weather intensifies the overall pain. i still have on going knee pain in general and doc says takes sometmes ONE YEAR before see difference. When they did the TKR they did clean up some scar tissue (had 4 prior procedures before having TKR).
Avatar f tn Torn meniscus cartilage, 2 knee scopes (arthroscopic surgeries), and finally a total knee replacement. If your knee is swelling, especially in the morning after sleeping, it may be a torn meniscus cartilage. The older we get, the more brittle our cartilage becomes and the more prone it is to damage from impact, etc... I have had lots of injuries over the years but the knee had the worst pain of all.
Avatar f tn I was told by one position that I could not have a knee replacement unless they did a Fulkerson because my knee was not tracking properly. I now assume he was referring to a partial knee replacement. As I've been referred to a position for total knee replacement because the Fulkerson did not completely resolve my pain and improve my mobility.
Avatar m tn My doctor told me that the bone has healed well, as long as a second ortho, who said the same thing. Why such excruiating pain??? Firstly I have a vice-like pain after walking short distances, it is painful to the point that I come close to vomiting. Yet I have healed well? Secondly when I breathe hard or cough I have a sharp pain that lasts seconds but makes me wince everytime it happens daily or more. It shoots up from my ankle to about my knee.
Avatar m tn I play street hockey and while running during a game about 2 weeks ago, I landed a bit awkwardly on my right foot. I felt like I had jammed or very slightly hyperextended my knee. The pain was moderate and after a day or so it was all but gone. I have suffered no 'real' injury from this, as I am able to walk, run, work out, etc. with no issues or loss of performance. However, since the event I've noticed that my knee aches after I play hockey.
Avatar m tn When you are, then you could figure out the perfect suitable treatment method by just going through adequate knee joint prognosis. Knee pain can be due to various situations and might result in serious soreness inside the knee if not treated. The soreness won't only have an effect on your body, but it might also affect your way of life. Knee pain is caused by many reasons, including the aging process, pain through a car crash, and intensive athletic activities.
Avatar m tn ve been running with no knee pain. I run on the dirt/grass, where others run on the hard cement. Time after again they would get knee injuries. I quit running in races because I could feel the difference in the hard surface on my legs running verus the dirt/grass. If it was me, since I love running, I would stay off the hard cement. Our joints aren't made for that hard pounding.
Avatar f tn QUITE A FEW MONTHS AGO I STARTED GETTING ACHES IN BOTH LEGS, I PUT IT DOWN TO THE MENOPAUSE, ANYWAY 6 WEEKS AGO THE PAINS SEEMED TO BE GETTING WORSE I HOPED IT WOULD GO AWAY, 3 WEEKS AGO I NOTICED MY LEFT KNEE WAS PAINFUL AND SWOLLEN, MY DOCTOR SENT ME FOR AN XRAY I HAD GOT MODERATE OSTEOARTHRITIS OF MY KNEE, UNFORTUNATELY AT THE MOMENT I HAVE TO HOLD ONTO SOMETHING TO GET UP OUT OF A CHAIR AND A STRUGGLE TO CLIMB STAIRS, WHILST SITTING I GET PAIN IN OTHER LEG I AM ONLY 55 BUT I FEEL ABOUT 70, I
Avatar m tn I then made the decision last fall to play some indoor soccer again and after the first 30 seconds of the game, my knee would be in incredible pain of which would leave me limping for the next 3 days. So besides knocking down, at times, 800mg of ibuprofin 3x a day (with food & water) to manage the swelling, nothing has really helped with the pain. Yesterday I went to see my surgeon again and discuss my options. He did some knee stability tests and said my ACL is very stable.
Avatar m tn I really hope that the knee issue is due to limping and overexerting the knee, and that the joint pain is due to the anxiety that this situation has caused. I feel great in my overall health except from this. And when I dont think about it, say while talking to a friend, I feel NOTHING at all. Any experiences or tips would be very helpful. Sorry for the long post, I just felt like I had to let it all out...
Avatar m tn Hi there. Your postoperative period after arthroscopic meniscal repair needs to be taken care of by physical therapy. The main focus is to decrease the swelling, regain full range of motion and build muscle strength. The typical rehabilitation plan includes six weeks in the brace, performing non-weight bearing range of motion exercises. After six weeks, patients begin weight bearing and other exercises for another six weeks.
Avatar m tn my doctor said it was no biggie and i just needed to build up muscle well even after i built up muscle i was ice skating and my knee gave out and i broke my elbow, well then i was going down a water slide and my knee went out of place from impact of the water on the 3rd trip to the doctors he finally told me that i had knocked knees and i probaly wont be able to keep my knee from giving out again with out surgery.
Avatar f tn I tripped and fell full force and all my weight directly on my knee. The inital pain was like nothing I have ever felt. The next two day it was pretty sore but seemed fine for the most part. Fast forward 2-3 weeks later the pain comes back. At first it was like the pain on days 2-3. It is steadily getting worse. It’s as painful as it was the moment it happened. Insurance won’t approve MRI without a month of physical therapy. I’m afraid that all this time will make it so much worse.
Avatar n tn My dad, 78 years old, lives on his own, has always been very active, tennis and walking, had prostate surgery about 4 weeks ago; the other morning he tried to stand up and fell down, he was taken to emergency room and then admitted to hospital - they still haven't determined medical problem and he still cannot walk - they want him to start physio, however, he says he cant walk - it's his right leg - he has a pain in his lower back down the back of his leg to his knee.
Avatar f tn So a few days back I hit the side of my knee into a planter box with decent force. The side of my knee hurts from impact but the under the kneecap area has also proven to be very mildly sore just from daily activities after. I'm suspecting that my ACL has been bruised and not entirely torn because it did not hurt as if it was torn upon impact. My burning question is can I still do weighted back squats and generally excersize it if this turns out to be the case?
Avatar f tn I was in a car accident about a year and a half ago. The dashboard caved in on my legs during impact and hit both of my knees really hard. They were both bruised pretty badly. Turns out, I tore the PCL in my left knee. On my right knee, there was just bruising. However, the bruise turned numb over time and is still there. There's no discoloration anymore, but there's still a lump. It's kinda like someone took a piece of fabric and sewed it in inside my knee.
Avatar m tn Within 30 minutes I received massive localised swelling of the knee and by that evening I had a large clear filled blister above the impact site with a number of smaller blisters around it. Is this something to be worried about. There is localised pain and the knee is limited in movement as one would expect. It is now 3 days later and the blisters are still there (I have not attempted to drain them). I am on blood thinners and vaso dilators as well. Advice appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have been running 3 miles a day fro 3x a week, until recently because i have been experiencing really aching pain in my knee and if i keep running it becomes really painful like i have torn something, and sometimes my knee gives way too, if i stop running and walk the pain wears off for a while, i have had an 6-8 week rest, but it still hurts when i try to bend my knee, it pulls really tight and hurts, haven`t tried running fully yet, sometimes the knee hurts really bad , it hurts in the back
Avatar m tn Hi, I have "calcified meniscus" on my right knee. I have constant pain on it. About a year ago, the doctor said my condition does not require surgery. In the other hand, I'm overweight (I'm 5'9" and weights 285 lbs). I need to loose weight and want to know what type of exercise I can do that do not have a worse impact on my knee.
Avatar f tn After the fall, I developed numbness, tingling and shredding pain in the front and side of my right leg, not the back where apparently sciatica pain is located. Was told by doctor that this was from the back injury. Several months ago, the pain developed on the left side as well, in both the front of the leg and groin area. Then the back pain became so intense that it is difficult for me to walk more than a block without sitting or resting and impossible to stand for any length of time.
Avatar f tn but at almost 68yo, something had to give). One subject that kept surfacing on the Searches was an old time remedy of Castor Oil. I’m not in terrible pain, but it is a 24/7 aggravation, as anyone who has similar discomforts can attest to. I decided to give it a try; I purchased a package of ladies’ cosmetic, cleansing pads (~3”x4”) and a small bottle of Castor Oil (CO), I placed a pad on a saucer, saturated the pad with CO (not dripping) and popped it into the microwave for about 35 secs.
