operation

Avatar n tn I have had extreme knee pain (to the point where I can now barely walk as it is), and I don't know what the problem is. In March 2008, I had an operation to help remove a torn miniscus, and the pain went away after physical therapy. Now it's back (been back for about 5 months), and in BOTH knees now, rather than just one. Went back to the same doctor that did the operation, and he gave me some anti-inflammatories that worked for a week then quit working.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have had 3 arthroscopies on my left knee to repair my lateral horn meniscus in September 2009, January 2014 and March 2015. Each time after the operation and recovery my knee begins to feel good and strong again. After 1 and a half year since my last operation my knee has felt great, however 5 days ago I squatted down (asian squat toilet), and instantly knew I had torn the cartilage again. Since this moment my left knee has a constant ache/throb.

Avatar f tn This morning the right knee is swollen and very stiff and he is in a great deal of pain. We have been icing but he could hardly make it to the bathroom. A Vicodin and Vistiril have helped but we are troubled by this event. Anyone experienced this at the 6 week point?
Avatar f tn Pain is an issue as I am allergic to all pain meds ordered to date and take nothing for the pain levels of 9-10. Before injury both knees were healthy, minimal arthritic changes on MRI's in spite of age 58 and obesity. MRI of L' Knee now shows arthritic changes and "new" tears based on MRI. M.D. wants to inject L' Knee with Supartz x 5; no suggestion for repair of EITHER knee although actual status of R' Knee remains unknown as he refuses to order MRI.
Avatar f tn I had bilateral knee replacement done in 2008. I went through the operation with no pain. Now, it's a different story. I have jolts of muscle and tendon pain. By that, I mean, if I take a step I get a jolt, which sometimes throws me forward. Sometimes, when I am walking I get a spasm of pain, then it will go away. I do not have constant pain. My walking is not very straight. Anyone with this kind of problem?

Avatar f tn Patients with a loose total knee joint limp. The pain is usually felt in the whole knee area, predominantly in the front, along with increasing stiffness and effusion in the knee joint. With advancing time patient will not be able to put weight and diminished motion in the joint. Diagnosis can be made with the help of X-rays. Revision operation can be considered if there is unbearable pain, progression of osteolysis and loss of function.
Avatar m tn Well i have knee surgery monday and i am very afraid to tell my doctor. He is a knee doctor and never has prescribed me pain meds. I thought of telling just the anesthesiologist but am afraid of not having a prescription in my name. I think I should tell him so I dont have complications from the surgery but dont know the legal issues and basically really dont want them to judge me. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn //www.webmd.com/pain-management/knee-pain/acl-surgery-what-to-expect Or is your doctor talking about BEAR (bridge enhanced acl repair surgery)? This is newer and one in which the acl doesn't need to be replaced but heals itself? It uses a sponge injected with your blood. There are supposed to be some promising advantages to this surgery such as faster recovery time and less chance of a retear. But it is newer and less is known about outcomes.

647391 tn?1275016633 I had implant at 60 and replaced due to pain 2/20/13 after 10 years. Was still functional but very limited. A full knee replacement can result in gaining a nearly fully active life free of pain. I am a golfer and know several others who go from no pain or discomfort to very little. I have had 3 operations on it and feel it's worth the temporary pain and slight possibility of complications.
