647391 tn?1275016633 This is because of damage to the knee and missing cartilage. What is your thoughts as to someone my age having knee replacement surgery. Also, what is the quickest recovery you have seen for someone with knee replacement surgery?

Avatar m tn I take one ten ml in the morning and 1 to a half before bed to help me sleep. Well i have knee surgery monday and i am very afraid to tell my doctor. He is a knee doctor and never has prescribed me pain meds. I thought of telling just the anesthesiologist but am afraid of not having a prescription in my name. I think I should tell him so I dont have complications from the surgery but dont know the legal issues and basically really dont want them to judge me. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn i have recently had a knee operation to fix the cartilage. on investigating they found that my femor and knee cap was in a bad way and worn and in time i will need a knee cap replacement, however thankfully not at the present time. Iam a fit person who teaches amrtial arts. My problem is that it has been weeks since my operation but the knee is still badly swollen and sore and i am still struggling to straighten it and bend it behonf 40 degrees..
2168811 tn?1337227801 Looking for a quick response. Have any of you orthopedists performed any kind a knee replacement on a runner (marathoner) who continued running with success? I have 24 more states to complete to have done them all. If not recommended, do I just go on until the pain is unbearable, get the operation, and stop running/walking? Is there middle ground? If so, what is it? Thanks in advance.
1444487 tn?1284392849 I also feel that seven months is too long a period for recovery from a hernia operation. Did you not approach the doctor who operated him, and if so what did he say? One possibilty is that some mistake caused during the operation might have interfered with the functioning of the prostate or bladder, or possibly there is an infection there.
393942 tn?1315560152 About 3 weeks ago I had knee surgery. The Doc did 3 seperate things to my knee. He cleaned out more arthritis, repaired my minicus, and a lateral release. Since the surgery I have developed a hugh lump on the outside part of my knee and my whole leg swelled. My doc said that the only thing that will help all the swelling would be a compression stocking. The stocking helped from my knee down but did nothing from my knee up. The lump is still as big as ever.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have had 3 arthroscopies on my left knee to repair my lateral horn meniscus in September 2009, January 2014 and March 2015. Each time after the operation and recovery my knee begins to feel good and strong again. After 1 and a half year since my last operation my knee has felt great, however 5 days ago I squatted down (asian squat toilet), and instantly knew I had torn the cartilage again. Since this moment my left knee has a constant ache/throb.
Avatar f tn HI, MY DR. SENT ME TO A ORTHO AND SHE HAD I SHOULD HAVE THE KNEE ARTH. WENT BACK TO MY RHEUM. AND HE SAID IF I WOULD LIKE HE WOULD TRY PHYSICAL THERAPY FIRST. I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO BUT, I DO HAVE PAIN AND TODAY ALOT PAIN. THIS IS BEEN ABOUT 1 YR I THOUGHT I HAD RESTLESS LEGS. WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND.
Avatar f tn 2 weeks ago I had an IOL inserted as I was wearing high powered contact lenses for long periods of time and I was developing complications. Unfortunately my sight has been very hazy since the surgery and today I was told the reason for this is, the remains of my natural lens has detached and has moved position and is now blocking my view.
1148201 tn?1262165258 After a MRI they have found that I have only MCL in my left knee in tact and need to have a operation to fix this. I have found many people with ACL tears on you tube but can't find info on the problems I have in my knee. Where could I see an operation to fix all ligaments if it can be done as will see my Doc soon to discuss the options and would like to know what they are before we do speak?
Avatar m tn i have 7 knee operation on my left knee, acl repaired and both cartlidges removed , cannot stand more than a couple of hours at a time. cant straighten it and cannot bend it more than 45 degrees is a knee replacement in my near future.
Avatar f tn Surgical repair for torn meniscus of L' Knee. 3 months post-op it buckled, caused tear during fall to R' Knee and meniscus was surgically repaired but has also failed, although the surgeon refuses to order an MRI to "prove" this latest injury. Pain is an issue as I am allergic to all pain meds ordered to date and take nothing for the pain levels of 9-10. Before injury both knees were healthy, minimal arthritic changes on MRI's in spite of age 58 and obesity.
Avatar n tn I have had extreme knee pain (to the point where I can now barely walk as it is), and I don't know what the problem is. In March 2008, I had an operation to help remove a torn miniscus, and the pain went away after physical therapy. Now it's back (been back for about 5 months), and in BOTH knees now, rather than just one. Went back to the same doctor that did the operation, and he gave me some anti-inflammatories that worked for a week then quit working.
Avatar n tn SINCE HAVING KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY IN MARCH 2009 I HAVE HAD SEVERE HEEL PAIN. NO ONE HAS FOUND THE CURE. THIS INCLUDES THE KNEE SURGEON, A PAIN DOCTOR, A FOOT DOCTOR AND A NEUROSURGEON.
Avatar n tn 25 years ago i had a right retinacular release of the right knee. The knee is causing pain on movement; I use movelat gel; now the pain is severe at times. The knee clicks when walking.
Avatar f tn I have severe hip pain from athritus can anyone recommend something to relieve it without resorting to surgery (I,ve just had a total knee replacement left knee - hence not very active just now) Be very grateful for any sggestions regardless of outlandishness , ie leg of toad etc!!
Avatar f tn I was told by one position that I could not have a knee replacement unless they did a Fulkerson because my knee was not tracking properly. I now assume he was referring to a partial knee replacement. As I've been referred to a position for total knee replacement because the Fulkerson did not completely resolve my pain and improve my mobility.
Avatar m tn My mother had full knee replacement surgery around october. The operation seems to have been a success. But a few weeks after the operation she developed diahrrea. It has now lasted more than 2 months. She has lost 14 pounds. All tests come back negative. SHe has taken several medicines aND probiotics. Her diahrrea is watery. Not solid at all. She goes 4 times a day sometimes more. She has gone 10 times in half a day at some point . Has not taken antibiotics since the operation.
