Common Questions and Answers about Knee joint weakness

knee

Avatar f tn Thanks for replying. My doctor has made no official diagnosis but asked me to bend and flex my knee and leg this way and that. She said that my knee joint is a bit loose. I'm getting an x ray to find out and physio but I'm still waiting on both of these letters to get to me. I'll use the codeine and I have laxatives at home. I've been drinking more water lately so a bit more might help.

Avatar m tn Meniscii too if torn or injured cause pain worsening on walking and result in joint instability—that is you are not confident the knee joint will take your weight. Often the person feels a popping sensation on moving the joint. It can also be tendinitis due to inflammation of tendon at the knee joint. So, all these aspects should be looked into while diagnosing your pain. Weakness and pain in the knee can also be due to patellofemoral pain syndrome.
634590 tn?1293774093 im wondering if there was infection in right hip joint how can that infection travel to my left joint even im on antibiotics. I think this is not infection but it is muscles pain / weakness. When ever i strech my legs and then walk pain starts and after some rest pain goes away. When i was on isotretinoin i was so much lethargic/fybromyalgia type symptoms, and felt very much tiredness and weakness in my inner sides of thys/legs.
Avatar f tn In some cases Nexium can cause muscle weakness that could be interpreted as joint pain. You sister may want to discuss the problem with her physician.
Avatar n tn my arms and shoulders hurt, knee pain, leg weakness, hands hurt, diareah, fatigue
Avatar n tn I am just wondering how long it could take for a quad muscle to heal from a direct blow but with no bruising and if the weakness in the VMO muscle could cause my knee to pop and IT band to snap at times and cause pain in my pes anserine bursa. I did see a orthopedic who said he is not sure. X-rays were negative but I have a high deductable insurance so I am trying not to get an MRI.
Avatar f tn Do any of you have joint pain that is associated with your MS? My right knee is giving me a terrible time but it seems to be more joint related than muscle related. Just thought I would ask! Hope you all are doing well and survived the holidays! Thanks!
Avatar m tn We're not orthopedic surgeons, unfortunately. From my own experience with a bad knee, this sounds more like either tendon or cartilage problem rather than muscular, if it is in fact in the knee. That's a joint, not a muscle. If you hurt muscle doing squats, it would most likely be in the glutes or the thighs or possibly the periformis, and it would probably just be sore, not injured unless what you don't say is you were doing this exercise with heavy weights.
5715171 tn?1372914664 This happens due to malialignment of the knee cap on bending the knee (and hence any imaging study has to be taken with the knee bent), injury to the knee (you may have sustained it in past), flat feet, over tight or over lax muscles around the knee joint. All these aspects will have to be investigated by your doctor. Other possibilities are bursitis (inflammation of fluid filled sac over joints), tendonitis (inflammation of cords joining muscles to bones) or due to weakness of patellar bone.

Avatar f tn The pain is worse when I am sitting, climbing or coming down stairs, and extending the knee from 90 to 180 degrees. I have major weakness in the joint when standing (almost feels like it's going to "give out" if that makes sense). In the past 3 weeks it has started "popping" when I attempt to extend it. It cracks and makes funny grinding noises. When it's popping and grinding it hurts the worst. The right knee is perfectly normal.
Avatar n tn Also i have a few symptoms of leukimia such as shortness of breath, weakness, joint pain, night sweats and purplish spots on my skin. Also i have recently noticed that the left side of my brain near to the back of my head goes numb all of a sudden and so does my lower spine, hands and legs. What does this mean? Can anyone help me please. Thank you.
Avatar f tn 4 weeks later, I developed a low grade fever and sudden onset severe pain in my knee joint and muscle aches in legs. It was quite severe and though i managed to walk about, was unable to stand for long. There were also pains in smaller joints of my toes and fingers. On movement there were clicking sounds, but no pain in shoulder and wrist joints. I also had pain in the skin of my soles and fingers, a left side tinnitus and weakness in the muscles of my left hand.
Avatar f tn At 16 I started having bad joint pain in my wrists- my gp said it may be carpal tunnel so I dismissed it as such. Several years later in my twenties my wrists began to bother me extensively affecting all activities involving my hands and I started to have weakness as well- I explored this with the gp. Had x-rays on my wrists which were normal and saw an orthopedist who also mentioned it may be carpal tunnel.
Avatar m tn About two weeks ago I was coming down the stairs and my knee locked up and I got this terrible biurning pain right where my knee joint and knee cap meet on the right side. I was in agony and could hardly put any weight on my right leg because it felt like it would give out. Then after a half hour or so the pain went away and I was back to normal. It happens every once in awhiile mostly while I am coming down stairs. What could this be and what could be causing it?
Avatar f tn Generally weakness of the inner thigh muscles and tightness of the outer thigh muscles causes the knee cap to move from its place and cause knee pain and knee locking. This could have happened in your case if you have a localized muscle wasting only. Alternatively locking of knee (say due to torn piece of cartilage or bone figments) and knee pain could have caused a localized muscle atrophy in the thigh due to less use of the muscles.
Avatar f tn When in a long leg cast, it’s only the movement at the knee joint that would not be possible to evaluate; however the ability to raise the leg when straight/ flex the hip can be tested, to evaluate the function of the muscle/ tendon. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar m tn However, she is experiencing knee stiffness in both knees. Could this be related to the problem in finding the correct dose? Would it be helpful to see an orthopedic doctor?
Avatar n tn Hello again Both my ankle and toes are very stiff and i cannot wiggle my right toes very much. There is greater fullness around the thigh, knee and calf.Ocasionally i get pins and needles and burning sensation down the leg. The last neurology visit he said he was unable to flex the knee and there was no crossed abductor response.Light touch was mildly impaired over the whole of the right leg.
Avatar n tn it does not seem to be improving although definitely gets irritated upon use, unfortunately it being my right hand there is not much i can do to limit the use. i experience weakness when gripping lifting turning with the hand and there is sharp pain in between the two knuckles that stretches into the hand. i dont know if it could be tendinitis or maybe early signs of carpel tunnel.
