Osteoarthritis, Ligament damage, Meniscus damage or Patello-femoral disorder. Your symptom of pain at the joint line is the result of a collateral ligament or meniscus problem (or both) until proven otherwise. Your symptom of sudden pain, then hearing a pop and swelling suggests that you have ligament injury. If the patient has a ligament injury, the patient will report a deceleration injury or twisting the knee that led to immediate symptoms of swelling and pain.
Well, in the last week, the are between my patella and thigh began to hurt badly, along the outside of my knee hurts all the way up into my thigh, on the inside the tenderness has progressed, also on the inside of my knee midway up my inner thigh I have a severe line of pain that I can also palpate. Knee joint aspiration and injection are performed to aid in diagnosis and treatment of knee joint diseases. Do you have swelling in and around knee joint? Corticosteroids therapy changes the vascular inflammatory response to injury, stalls destructive enzymes, and inhibits/restricts the action of inflammatory cells. How many steroid injections are you taking per year? I think what you are experiencing is the post-injection flare.
Grade 1 symptoms: * Mild tenderness on the inside of the knee over the ligament. * Usually no swelling. * When the knee is bent to 30 degrees and force applied to the outside of the knee (stressing the medial ligament) pain is felt but there is no joint laxity (looseness). Grade 2 symptoms: * Significant tenderness on the inside of the knee on the medial ligament. * Some swelling seen over the ligament.
It goes away when I stand. Some tenderness remains. Otherwise the knee is quite useful. I'm 43, in good shape, and although a little muscular, I have a delicate bone/joint build. I recently increased significantly the amount of weight I was doing on a squat rack. I typically do squats with strict form, but lower my hips below my knees. I think the increased weight on the squat rack, and the extreme range of motion I used, along with my delicate joints, and my age, have injured the knee.
Could anyone tell me if they have experienced this kind of knee pain with relationship to Lymes disease? Joint pain exists in left knee which makes walking painful then at times mostly while sitting or laying down an excruciating pain comes to a localized spot. This pain seems to come on and escalate much like a labor pain does - it reaches a crescendo and then fades away. It can last 2 seconds - 20 minutes and come back in a few minutes or a few days.
There are 3 pairs of ligaments in your knee joint. You have a pair or menisci, medial collateral and lateral collateral ligaments and a pair of cruciates. Depending on the grade of injury to the ligament you can start conservative therapy and if it fails you can consider surgery. Follow up with an orthopedician. Take care!

The pain runs from my calf to my thigh across the knee joint, at the back, about 6-8inches worth, on the inside. I have been to hospital several times now, driving myself to A&E and begging for help. I have been given codiene, tested for a blood clot and most recently, last night advised that I have a Baker's Cyst! The pain is so bad that I am becoming an emotional wreck.

This time there was a bit of burning sensation and a little bit of swelling/tenderness and my knee felt really unstable and whenever I bent it a little it would go a little more on its own, something was really wrong. However a day later I actually extended my knee to the maximum and massaged it and the buckling went away magically, the knee felt much more stable than before but still loose compared to the other knee.
I am 15, and have had 7 surgeries to treat my multiple hereditary osteochondromatosis. I had a tumid removed from right above my knee in March, because an MRI showed it to have 1.5 cm of cartilage cap and we didn't want it to turn malignant in the future. It healed very nicely and I have regained full mobility (well, for me. I didn't have full mobility in the first place) .
I had bilateral knee replacements two years ago and recently my left knee has been paining me quite often. I have to sit on the aisle seat in theaters so I can stretch it out or if in one position too long it becomes excruciating. My right knee may get a bit stiff from the lengthy sitting but that is all. Why is the one so painful? I stretch my legs daily and walk stairs everyday at home and in school where I teach. Does this mean my operation is deteriorating so soon?
There may be a popping feeling in the knee .There will be tenderness along the line of the joint on one side. A physical examination will confirm the cause of your problem.Rest, ice compression and elevation may help. Depending on the injury you may need knee brace or bandage. On physical examination the doctor will look for specific findings such as joint line tenderness, swelling, and clicking or popping. As far as the ACL, it sounds as if this is a mild sprain, and not a complete tear. Again, the clinical finding are very important. The history issues remain the same. On examination, the most important findings are those of instability. Your doctors will perform various maneuvers to determine the "functional" status of your ligament.

Hi Shelly, When you spoke about scar tissue removal from knee joint I felt as the operative space is less in knee joint hence the chances of scar tissue remnant is more. When I mentioned about abdominal surgery, I was talking about abdominal surgery in children’s where again as the operative space is less hence the chances of adhesions is more. I think it is always better to do a non-invasive study like MRI scan than to do a invasive procedure like arthroscopy.
Is the meniscus pathology of the knee joint due to the old chronic sprained ankle? I could have done damage to the knee as well because at the the time of injury my whole body was in a twisting motion and I didn't stop twisting until I hit the hole in the ground. Remember, I jumped from a 5 foot fence so twisting my body around and landing in a hole could of did more damage than I originally thought.

Could someone please help me? I was diagnosed with a syrinx in my thoracic area 10 years ago, but did not have any symptoms. I was advised to get a MRI every two years to have it monitored. For a few years I blocked the dx out due to other medical conditions. Then, I had an accident and that event was the beginning of the long downward spiral of my health and life in general.
I would have my temp taken, and no fever. Nothing was visibly wrong with me--even though I thought I had a broken knee or shoulder. I was just be sent on back to my class. That lasted until mid-way through my 8th grade year. Then I had to have surgery on my right shoulder, because it would dislocate when I would raise my hand in the class room. I would easily "take it out of socket" to show friends and family. It was always very sore, but so easy to dislocate.
In case if it is regarding fracture then union means that both ends of a joint have healed and hence there is joint line present and a non-union means exactly opposite. Keep me informed if you have any queries. Bye.

I cant stand for long periods of time, sometimes I get joint pain and all my bones crack constantly. I had knee surgery for a torn menisucus which just seemed to "happen" and during the surgery the dr found a arthritic bone spur which he had to shave down. He said it was strange because I was so young. (i was 28 at the time.) My legs always feel like Ive run a marathon and I have absolutely no energy. Im so frustrated! I ve even had one Dr.
One ortho surgeon told her that it could be related to menopause. Her knee joint pains for the last 2 years were diagnosed by Drs as arthritis. Her bone density scans were marginally okay. Three weeks ago she underwent surgery to remove a soft lateral meniscal cyst on inner side of right knee (larger than a ping pong ball). A week ago Dr put her on Vit. D 50,000 IU x1 per week and daily calcium supplement. She was getting better until the last 2 days.
Symptoms are a terrible way to ascertain risk for HIV and most oral STDs are asymptomatic Bottom line, you do not have HIV and your risk for STD is minimal. It was just bad luck that your sore throat occurred after your exposure. I would not even get tested. Time to move on.
I think that, too, because I have all the symptoms of costo----pain on the site, tenderness and pain between my ribs and no pain or numbness between my back and sternum i.e. in the area under my arms. I've scoured the internet looking for information. All my doctor told me was to rest, take anti-inflammatory meds (mobic) and try not to use my chest muscles much. That's pretty much all i found on the internet, besides surgery or cortisone shots, that's about it.
