Avatar m tn I had chrondo-orthoscopic on my knee due to an injury. the injury occurred 2 yrs ago. now I'm post surgery since 6/2/2011 - still have pain. still can't run. any one out there w similar circumstance, and are you recovering.. did you recover completely from such a surgery/injury?
Avatar f tn Subluxation is a partial dislocation. This is likely to occur due to injury and instability of some of the major supports of the knee joint, while reconstruction of the ligaments may just be possible in a few cases. You could try using a knee brace for additional support and avoiding exercise. It would be best to discuss the situation, the management plan and the expected, prognosis in detail with your treating orthopedician. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
5276744 tn?1365876682 A delay in 2 weeks for the surgery is unlikely to have affected the healing process or the expected prognosis with the surgery. The recovery time and the expected prognosis would depend on the precise injury, its severity/ grading, associated complications, surgical repair done, PO physiotherapy & complications etc. It would be best to discuss the situation, the suggested management plan and the expected prognosis in detail with your treating orthopedician. Hope this is helpful.
Avatar m tn When you are, then you could figure out the perfect suitable treatment method by just going through adequate knee joint prognosis. Knee pain can be due to various situations and might result in serious soreness inside the knee if not treated. The soreness won't only have an effect on your body, but it might also affect your way of life. Knee pain is caused by many reasons, including the aging process, pain through a car crash, and intensive athletic activities.
Avatar m tn Hi Suzi, Thanks for your reply, I'm disappointed the surgery on my left knee didn't fix the injury that I substained and the on going problems after the operation was done is a real hassle. No matter how much effort I put in with hydro exercises and strenght work in the gym. Even with having a Synvisc injection I don't think it's going to stop my knee from collasping/giving way on me when ever it wants to.
Avatar f tn Right knee arthroplasty post-op quad musclesdeficit by Katy890, 19 minutes ago I have just had 2 total knee replacements 2 months apart. First knee recovery went fine. With second knee, I have 118 degrees of flexion and 12 degrees of extension. My problem is that I am having serious femoral nerve pain ever since my 2nd operation 3 weeks ago today. It radiates into greater trochanter area of right hip and down my leg -- sometimes going down into the mid-calf area.
Avatar m tn My mother had a knee repacement a year ago. Even after rehab she complained the knee felt weak, like it was going to give out. She has fallen three times. She recently had a replacement on the other knee and noticed the difference in recovery right away that there seemed to be a weakness still in the knee she had done a year ago.
Avatar m tn The expected prognosis is best discussed with your treating orthopedician depending on the type and extent of injury. Physiotherapy would help strength the muscles around the knee joint and movement may be gradually increased. 2-6 weeks of physiotherapy should be good to get you going in most cases. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn which is seen in sports such as football when the player is hit on the outside of the knee. Almost any knee injury can initially be treated acutely with ice packs, rest, and immobilization. Many people live normal lives despite having a meniscus tear. It is only when the meniscus tear becomes symptomatic, and interferes with activities, that surgery to treat the meniscus tear should be considered.
466103 tn?1206935479 Now, in addition, I have the same feeling in the top part of my leg from the knee to the hip. And on occasion feeling a horrible burning pain just above the left knee. I have seen two doctors and both have recommended MRI's, something which I plan to do as soon ASAP. One doctor mentioned the possibility of a tumor, seeing as though the numbness was not restricted to one area. Has anyone else had this type of problem, and if so, what was the result and prognosis?
Avatar f tn I twisted my knee and when it happen I heard and felt a pop on the inside of my knee. Also, now when I walk, I have pain and crackling on the outside, under the knee. When I am walking and I have to turn or piviot, I get a pain that runs the inside of my knee. And now I can just be standing there and my knee feels like it is really loose and feels like I hyperextended in, the knee pushes back. How ling should I wait to go to the doctor or should I continue to try and heal it myself.
Avatar n tn Hi! I'm sorry to hear about your knee. It sounds to me like either a ligament or possibly cartilage. Does it feel unstable or is it still giving out on you? Does it ache after sitting for long amounts of time? Is your pain off to the side of the knee or under your knee cap? These answers may help me know better.
Avatar f tn You need to know I have arthritis in both knees and no cartilage left under knee caps. My knee instantly was hurting but mostly when trying to walk normal. I can walk stiff legged and it doesn't hurt too bad but flex the knee and it has sharp pain like i have walking up and down stairs because of the knee caps. I sit in a normal position but lifting foot causing lots of pain around knee cap. I'm guessing I probably pulled something. Have put ice on it and taken ibu.
1587585 tn?1309432260 If you hurt your knee doing side lunges, this may be a meniscal injury or to the MCL. Pain in the back of the knee may be local inflammation, or swelling. Continue the NSAID's, rest, and ice; if the pain persists, see an orthopedist.
Avatar m tn I was playing volleyball and jumped and landed on my knee, the first few days my knee hurt too bad to walk on. It has been about a month now and I can walk with no problem but if I turn or back up or go down or up hills it still hurts sometimes. It also feels like something is moving when I turn sometime .Could this be serious? Should I see a doctor?
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, it is imposible to make a diagnosis from this simple description. If your pain is persistant, and does not respond to a short period of rest or activity modification, then I would suggest evaluation by an orthopedist. At that time, your doctor will take a thorough history, examine your knee and entire lower extremity, and use xrays and MRI if necessary, to formulate a diagnosis. After a dianosis is reached, then a treatment plan that makes sense for you canbe instituted.
Avatar m tn From there hopefully your doctor can perform tests to find out if there is tissue damage, or what the exact injury is. Until then, I highly suggest you stay off of your knee as much as you can, i.e. no running. You can try ice, or heat, whichever feels better. I would be careful when stretching as well in case you aggravate your knee. Good luck and I hope your knee feels better soon!
Avatar m tn I recently had an MRI for a knee injury. The diagnosis is "an unstable tear involving the posterior horn and body with vertical and horizontal components extending to the articular surface. The tear extends into the posterior horn root attachment". WIll this injury require surgery?
Avatar f tn If it is a chronic pain you have to rule out conditions like muscle or tendon injury to your quadriceps or injury to any of the ligaments in the knee. It can be conditions like bursitis or also nerve involvement. I would suggest you to follow up with an orthopedician for an examination. Take care!
Avatar f tn s knee requires surgery he may have either a torn anterior cruciate ligament or luxating patella (knee cap) or other less common injury. The best prognosis for the prevention of arthritis in the future would be surgery if the knee is unstable, though. I will try to give you some options that hopefully may help your dog in lieu of surgery as follows: 1. Acupuncture is very helpful for the knees and would be far less costly than surgery. 2.
Avatar f tn Hi I'm 20 years old and have been suffering from degenerative arthritis I my left knee due to injuries for quite some time now. I've had two major tear surgeries(acl and dual meniscus and mcl tears), it's been drained and I have gone through cortisone injections. Also according to a recent mri I have severe cartilage/bone loss. Now because if all this and the fact that I can't run, dance, our even walk without it giving out my dr wants me to get a knee replacement.
