Avatar f tn Folks, the poster said she can't do squats because of a bad knee. Until we know how bad the knee is, we can't tell her what exercises to do specifically. Also, squats as I said don't make the butt smaller, they make it more muscular somewhat, but they really more affect the part of body doing the work, which are the thighs and calves. When you do a squat, you're working the buttocks some, but the power to do them comes from the more powerful muscles beneath it.
1461944 tn?1286027942 You require sessions with an experienced rehabilitation expert, who will walk you through the exercises. This should have been done before surgery. I am dismayed at the number of surgeons who direct patients directly into the operating room for sciatic pain without having them treated by a rehabilitation specialist. After a laminectomy is performed there should be no pain whatsoever. Discuss this with your surgeon. You need another MRI.
6896476 tn?1386858324 hi, what exercises can you recommend for me to lose my fat around my thighs without gaining muscles on it and achieving a thigh gap? my thighs is around 22-24 inches each leg.
Avatar f tn I want to get a nice tone back for the summer any tips and good exercises are needed
Avatar m tn The physical therapy staff have not address the knee, but have given me some exercises for the neck pain I experience as well. Now the pain management doctor brought in a specialist to talk about doing an implant of a nerostimulator unit into my body which will mean yet another surgery?? My wife sure didn't like this idea, nor did I, but I am and was at least willing to look at the video on the procedure.

1415174 tn?1453243103 Continue with the unilateral and bilateral knee to chest exercises, as these exercises will stretch the lumbar extensors. Avoid holding of your breath (especially during the holding of the position) while doing all these exercises to avoid blood pressure from increasing. These are the basic exercises for the lower back to prevent recurrences of pain. Let me just emphasize that not all of the exercises are applicable to all patients with back problems.
Avatar f tn To get in some cardio exercise, go rollerblading or running with some friends, bike to and from school, sign up for tennis lessons, take a high-impact aerobics class at the gym or play a dance video game. Fast-paced exercises such as running tend to burn more fat calories than do moderate-intensity exercises such as walking. However, you may burn out faster if you do only high-intensity exercise, so aim for a balance of the two.
Avatar n tn Stretching the front and back or your leg to increase the flexibility in your knee. Perform stretching exercises at the end of your workout when your muscles are warm. Stretch the front of your leg in a standing position by bending your knee and raising your foot up toward your backside. Grasp the ankle with your hand to enhance the stretch. Stretch the back of your legs in a seated position with your legs extended on the floor. Fold forward over your straight legs to stretch your hamstrings.
Avatar f tn due to medical restrictions makes it difficult to exercise. Does anyone here have any advice or exercises that could help me get my legs stronger? I am not yet stronger enough for running or jumping but am willing to do whatever it takes to get stronger. All comments are welcome and thank you for taking the time to listen to my rambling.
Avatar f tn t do any cardio that is too taxing on my knee; is there any exercises that have high fat burning principals other than swimming? (I dont have the avilability of swimming where i live).
Avatar f tn You could use walking supports or knee brace for the time being. Also for starting exercises, it is better to consult a physiotherapist, to avoid movements that could worsen the condition. Hope this is useful. Take care!
Avatar f tn I watch Superherofitness(its something like or close to that) on Youtube. She has this amazing (in place/in home) 3 mile walk that I do daily. When I first started Id have to stop at 1.5miles & take a 15min break than start, after about 2 weeks I could make it the whole 3 miles. Plus she has other fun work out r videos like hip hop, belly dancing, zumba, pretty much something for everybody.
Avatar m tn If the twitching is in the quadriceps then it could be caused by a destabilization or weakening in the muscles that support the knee. If this is the case then simple exercises to strengthen these muscles can help. I would talk to your doctor first thought just to make sure. I know that some times when the muscles are not all that stable it can cause the knee to shift, any where from a slight misalignment to a dislocation.
Avatar m tn When I had cartilage surgery on my knee, I was given exercises to start the day after surgery (yes, it hurt). I was expected to have full ROM in two weeks or less. Doing the exercises made all the difference. Were you given exercises, are you doing them, and are you seeing a physical therapist? Your answers should be yes, yes, yes.
676912 tn?1332812551 I worked out using my pilates video. It's only a 20 minute video, and I made it through 15 minutes until my back hurt so bad I had to stop, but I tried!!! The more I do it the better it will get, just have to strengthen my back again, darn that anesthesiologist!
Avatar f tn I am an obese female with a current medical condition, I want to lose weight especially around my stomach area but i was cautioned to take it easy with difficult exercises because of my size. Tell me what kind of exercise would be good for me to lose this stomach area.
Avatar f tn Took an odd fall a few days ago. Knee swelled up a bit and was painful, but getting better now. However it slips out when I extend it out like in this video: https://we.tl/t-r4JvXPHIJY . Does anyone what may be the cause of this?
Avatar f tn I dislocated my knee in April this year, went to the hospital and they popped it back in. It took from April to July for me to recover, with different knee braces and pysico. A week after getting discharged from the hospital in July, my knee dislocated again however this time it popped back in by itself, it took until September for it to be fixed. I just got discharged from physio last week (November).
Avatar m tn After six weeks, patients begin weight bearing and other exercises for another six weeks. Low impact exercises are started at 12 weeks with full exercise at 16 weeks. Return to sports Guidelines is rigorous and you must seek your orthopaedician’s clearance to be able to perform sports specific drills at top speed.
1936411 tn?1333831849 Can we talk a bit about physical therapy and/or exercises intended to improve gait and build strength in the legs? Since my last flare, I have some very mild gait/balance issues that my neuro probably wouldn't assess as requiring physical therapy. But I would like to be proactive and begin building a repertoire of exercises which will help me improve my gait and leg strength now (rather than wait to see if things get worse later).
Avatar f tn After menisectomy I would suggest you to go for physical exercises and exercises to strengthen your quadrceps femoris muscle before thinking about surgical procedures. Rehabilitation after arthroscopic meniscectomy carries little or no risk. Rehabilitation is continued until the knee has regained full range of motion and strength .
Avatar f tn Try Callenetics by Callen Pickney....great thigh exercises in that video.....I lost a total of 4" off of each thigh....
