knee

1070781 tn?1255359735 the more i do my exercises the more stiff it gets... I was wondering if this was normal after artho knee surgery? My knee gives out more now than before the surgery and now my knee wants to lock if i don't step just right.
Avatar m tn When I had cartilage surgery on my knee, I was given exercises to start the day after surgery (yes, it hurt). I was expected to have full ROM in two weeks or less. Doing the exercises made all the difference. Were you given exercises, are you doing them, and are you seeing a physical therapist? Your answers should be yes, yes, yes.
Avatar f tn Dorsiflexion and Plantar flexion: push your ankle down and up keeping your leg straight and repeat this to decrease the pain and symptoms. Also do sidewise movements at the ankle joint. Perform these exercises while resting. If you continue having ankle problems you should ask your orthopedician for an examination. Take care!
Avatar m tn and was given a few strecthes and leg strengthening exercises to help with my knee problems. Well, after a solid two weeks of performing these exercises, my knee feels strong and well. But whenever i have to stretch and put my left knee into my buttox the entire knee feels an incredible amount of pain. Also, whenever I try and sit on my ankles, I am in HUGE amounts of pain just in the left knee.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your update. It's good to hear from you again. I am delighted to hear that you are healing. Wonderful News!! I've researched your past posts and can't find the diagnosis on this last knee surgery. I know it was to be an arthroscopic but if you have a large scar it sounds like it turned out to be more involved. Can you share with us what your surgeon discovered? You back and hip pain may well be as we discussed on your last post...
5987839 tn?1381922502 Hi there, a torn meniscus is one of the more common sports injuries over here in OZ, when surgery is necessary they typically do it keyhole which helps minimise recovery time, and developing early degenerative issues. They get you up and moving almost straight away now, with rehabilitation focusing on early mobilisation of the knee joint, building up quadriceps and hamstring strength.....
Avatar m tn once i had the surgery in may my knee feels great but my question is that ever since my surgery i have had this like sharp pain in my right glut and occasionally in my right lower leg. i feel it the most when i bend over my right leg to pick something up. i was wondering if you could tell me what it could possibly be and what i can do to get rid of it. I am an active person and would like to get back to enjoying the outdoors.
Avatar f tn taking a look. I just found out I need knee surgery again Monday so I am sure after being down for that I will be starting with neck exercises again! What a year, this will be surgery number three! I only had my knee done three months ago and it is still not ok! I suppose that next year has to be better right??
Avatar f tn I had keen surgery to fix a torn meniscal tear back in may and have arthritis in my keen in the bone for the last six months I have not felt a least bit better still have pain in back of knee and now have sever pain in the inner part of my keen after walking for just ten mins. I just had another MRI today and show the tear was still the but the doctor said that normal to still show the tear after being fix.
Avatar n tn Continue your physiotherapy and apply ice packs regularly after your exercises on the back of your knee and also take NSAIDs intermittently and you will improve as time passes. If you have any other complications follow up with your orthopedic surgeon. Take care!
Avatar f tn So after the holyday I had an MRI scan and the orthopedics tell me that I have the patella/femoral syndrome and that i need to do exercises to make my quadriceps stronger or maybe surgery. The problem is now that I cannot do exercises as my knees get inflamed and if I don't do exercises it gets inflamed if I walk, so now I am at home resting but I do not know what it is right to do because as soon as I move it swells and then I can't walk at all.
20881263 tn?1561816684 s really important to continue that until they release you from the need and at that point, they should give you exercises and stretches to do on your own. Proper rehabilitation of the knee really does require this. So, you are likely recovering still and would guess that this 'giving way' feeling is the result of that. Please confirm with your doctor though. If the sensation of buckling continues, you may have retorn the tendon, unfortunately.
Avatar f tn I had total knee replacement in April of 2007 and continue to have a nagging pain in the knee area as well as it stays slightly swollen all the time. The pain is a burning and stinging sensation and is made worse when I try to walk any length of time. Therefore, I don't get much exercise. The pain subsides with rest at night but when arisinig in the morning it's back and still swollen. Due to the swelling the knee doesn't bend as far as it should.
Avatar m tn After going through the procedure of knee replacement surgery it can be devastating for the patient to find that the pain in the knee has persisted. This paper discusses the possible reasons why this might occur.
Avatar n tn I recently learned that during my right knee replacement, the surgeon severed a nerve in the back of my knee near the right side. After 4 years of pain, drugs and almost loosing my job, I saw a new pain doctor who sent me for a 3D sonogram which is how I discovered this. Can this nerve be repaired?
Avatar f tn I had knee surgery and was given therapy exercises by physical therapists. Obviously the exercise changed as time went on. I couldn't believe what a workout they were.

1573930 tn?1295917640 While my right knee is greatly improved, the left knee is worse than pre-surgery. This pain has caused me to alter my lifestyle and to quite often avoid activities. (even a simple shopping trip can cause a lot of symptoms). The surgeon says that all x-rays and range of motion look good and there's nothing he can do. I am using a pain management doctor to help me manage the pain (with the primary option being narcotic pain meds). Is there a reason that the pain is this severe?
647391 tn?1275016633 I am 50 years old and set to have knee replacement surgery in a month. This is because of damage to the knee and missing cartilage. What is your thoughts as to someone my age having knee replacement surgery. Also, what is the quickest recovery you have seen for someone with knee replacement surgery?
Avatar m tn This is done by cutting the lower bone of the knee in a particular. For the cost of surgery, you have to ask the orthopedic surgeons in your area but it is quite affordable and recovery is good.
