Common Questions and Answers about Knee cartilage gel

knee

Having recently torn the cartilage in my left knee and simultaneously diagnosed ‘with a little arthritis’ in the same, and with swelling behind the knee. My Sport’s Ortho said that the swelling was common with the torn cartilage but should go down in time. I began searching on the Web for a magical pain relief remedy (other than my already supplementation of Glucosamine Sulfate, Chondrotin, Taurine, Collagen, HA, Cats Claw, Bromelain, MSM, etc., etc., etc….
However yes, bow legs can occur due to too much squatting on weak bones and can also occur due to degenerative changes in knee cartilage. Also, if the pain is not improving with cortisone injections then knee replacement is the only option. You could take a second opinion regarding this. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
I do not experience any grinding, locking, catching or giving way of the knee. There are no positions that make my knee uncomfortable other then putting my weight on it while kneeling. It feels totally normal otherwise. The pain is as if I knelt on a sharp rock or tack or even as if my bone is splintered. It began a couple of weeks ago while kneeling. I have not tried anything to help the pain other then not kneeling on it. Never had surgery. No hip pain or ankle pain.
Problem is, I have slowed it down and now I am gaining weight (catch 22 for sure) He guessed that I have cartilage (sp) damage in my knee and the only remedy is probably surgery. Any thoughts? It is not a constant pain but I certainly want to get back to my active lifestyle and I am bored now. Anything would be helpful, thanks!
I have been to countless docs. I know my knees have been/are damaged by my high weight. I had gastric bypass. Pain in R knee started after the weight loss. R knee is 3"+ larger than the left ALWAYS. There is always some pain. When extending my knee there is a popping crunching sound and when there is weight on the leg the sound is worse and hurts a bit. When sitting in a car/driving for long periods outside of R knee aches horribly.
I had the cartilage cleaned up/shaved from my left knee in early Dec. 07. I did really well, after surgery and during physical therapy. I'd had chemo from late Feb 07 til late May of same year. I've had pretty severe feett pain and burning since that time, mostly when I finally returned to work after chemo and radiation in Sept of 07. I've always felt that I had some neuropathy induced by the chemo, as I had some numbness on the bottom of my feet with burning and pain.
She had the cortisone shot with good but short term results. The only returns on gel injections have knee related information. Does anyone know if it is an effective treatment for the same problem in shoulders? Her cartilage is shot and a shoulder replacement isn't something she's interested in. Any input is appreciated.
How is it going to help? New today was the discovery of a saline gel that works in my nose with my canula to prevent the nasal dryness that causes my nose to clear it. He also recomended both Claritin and Sudafed, which he said was the same thing as Claritin D. Progress. My nose is going to survive to do what it does another day. Not so exciting was the feeling like I was going to faint today every tine I stood up after lying down. Not good. I almost fainted several times today.
Because of this, there is an increased risk of developing damage to the articular cartilage surface of the knee joint bones. Therefore, any lifestyle changes to decrease your risk of developing arthritis can improve the prognosis after having sustained a meniscus tear. For example, weight loss, low-impact exercise, and prevention of further trauma to the joint will all improve the long-term prognosis. Best.

Dear janq, Hello! Osteoarthritis is a type of arthritis that is caused by loss of the cartilage of one or more joints. Cartilage is a protein substance that serves as a "cushion" between the bones of the joints. Osteoarthritis is also known as degenerative arthritis.
I have NO cartilage in my left knee due to the surgery they did when I was 15. (gymnastic injury) Of course...that surgery set it up for arthritis. Over the past 7 years or so both knees are getting worse.. The dr. wants to wait until I'm older for the knee replacement, but it's only a matter of time. He also says, Its really up to me when I have the replacement, but I need to wait until the pain is an 8, 9 or 10 everyday.

She is going to order some injections (yippie) of something called Euflexa, which is a gel that will help cushion my knee. My knee has about zero cartilage in it. I've had these injections before, and they really do help. I just always had pain pills to go with them! They last about 6 months. I just hope my insurance will cover them, as they are not cheap, and I can't afford this right now. Anyway, I was out of there in 1/2 hour total, with NO pain pill prescription!
I finished a heavy program of weight lifting 3 1/2 months ago due to an unrelated injury with my knee. I also done plenty of aerobic exercise and was a proficient rock climber until my knee gave way so I would say I had a good range of flexibility (i can also touch my toes lol) The on set of pain comes in a variety of ways. This morning for example I woke up in pain due to the way I was sleeping. Hence why I'm hunched over my computer just now like the bloody elephant man.

I also have involuntary muscle twitches but I believe its from my adderall (i take for adhd) My father has been diagnosed with rheumatoid and osteoarthirits...im 33. Had knee surgery at 26, now other knee is going. I crack constantly. Google degenerative autoimmune diseases...
90% of the time I get the pain which is about 4 inches above my knee on the inside of the thigh at night and it is very painful and long lasting. During the day I have times when it feels like someone has driven a knife in me but it only lasts a few seconds. I have a spot where you can press and it hurts alot but otherwise it doesn't affect my daily life. I am very athletic and have not stopped doing anything but this is really affecting my sleep. If anyone learns anything, please post.
When I turn to sleep on my stomach, I tuck the blanket or pillow under my left inner thigh with my knee pointing towards my sleeping pillow. Try to visualize, we've all slept like this at some point. Remember, this is not comfortable unless you are use to doing it. That next morning, I wasn't in slight pain, but I could get up without any problem and do my walk. After my walk, I took time to sit in a warm bath before heading off to work. My fatigue was dissipating.
I've had tons of weird problems---starting with knee and ankle problems when I was two. I have "sloppy" knees too. My first "sprain" happened when I was five---and it's happened tons of times since---I tore my ACL by simply taking a step backwards when I was pregnant. doctors were shocked at the damage that had been done---they assumed that I had merely torn some cartilage---not torn things apart!
Yes, they happen every day, yes they itch, and yes they are worse during your period. Benadryl helps a tiny bit, I use the topical gel (slather in it) if I need to, but find Zyrtec more affective. I used to take Claritin, but it is not as strong. Sometimes ice or a cold cloth helps, and I'm getting pretty good at mind over matter. I started on drugs again today, Cyclosporine and a short bout of Prednisone to jumpstart the process.
I may get a burst of sharp pains in my temples usually one side, it can happen for a few seconds and repeat for a minute or so. I may get a pain in my knee and then minutes later in my finger, or shoulder or wherever it wants to be. The thing is I am a mental health nurse and keep thinking am I going mad. My partner is sympathetic but gets a bit tired of me mentioning pains 5 or 6 times a night. I'm tired all the time and don't know where to turn.
Do/Can you get your records of tests done? Also, some chiro ofc's or net sell Biofreeze-gel that goes deeper than OTC cool gels & numbs for awhile. Later.
