Knee braces with hinges

Common Questions and Answers about Knee braces with hinges

knee

Avatar m tn It was nothing traumatic other than being kicked below the knee causing a contusion to my shin and then started causing pain in my upper knee. After several months off, with no soccer and only minimal rehabing in the training room (due to mass amount of swelling and pain) a surgeon scoped my knee in November and took out 2-3 plica and a ton of scar tissue. After three weeks of healing and feeling great, the same pain as before came back except for more intense.
Avatar m tn I wore knee brace every day even to sleep, 2 days ago I changed to a more comfortable brace with those metal hinges on sides, also slept with it. My current issue/question, is 2 days ago I woke up with a swollen ankle and pain when putting leg down to walk. I don't remember any sprain in ankle at all, I had just walked a theme park the night before with no ankle issue or even the knee felt great. The pain is more like a burn sensation when i lower it, if i lift it it stops right away.
645800 tn?1466860955 So now I can finally put my pants on, but I then have to pull the legs up above the bottom of the knee braces as the top of the AFO attaches over the bottom of the knee braces. Of course the AFOs attach with Velcro straps as well and they stick to everything as well. Finally the struggle to get the pants legs down again past the AFOs. So far the fastest I have been able to do this is around 10 minutes. Oh and getting undressed is just as involved. So is all of this worth it?
4966610 tn?1362054308 I have a toy/mini poodle named Shadow who is over 12 years old. He weighs 12.5 lbs. He has several serious medical issues including a luxating patella (trick knee) on his right rear leg. Because of his age, and his medical condition, I don't want to chance surgery to repair this as there is more of a risk of fatality from surgery and or anesthesia as he gets older. Unless there is some dire need for surgery, I am looking for a non surgical solution for this problem.
Avatar m tn When I was 16 my knee cap was accidentally blown off with a shotgun when a hunting dog stepped on a gun while being pulled out of a blind. The remaining pieces of my patella were removed and torn tendons were surgically put back together. I have had several surgeries since then. I am now 51 years old, and despite still having beebees in the knee area and a missing knee cap I have been fairly active, but now have arthritis surrounding the area and my knee occasionally pops out of alignment.
Avatar f tn I have arthritis in my knee and in my left foot - but think it is also now in my hip. I was taking percocet for pain but have tried to get off them as I feel I was getting addicted. Right now I am looking for advice - the bottom of my left foot hurts and aches... is there anything you can put in your shoes or on your foot to lessen the pain? It's not swollen, and I don't really want a store bought insert because then it makes it too high for my foot.
Avatar m tn hi im bowlegged to and im 14 i went to the doctors because of my joint pain and he told me they could fix it so i too matters into my own hands and i found out there are knee braces that can help correct bowlegs im am not sure if they work properly because im still wating for mine to arrive so i hope they work and i hope this helped!
Avatar f tn I'm sorry to hear about your knee pain. It does sound quite challenging to deal with, especially given its persistence. Although I'm not a doctor and cannot diagnose your condition, a knee brace might be a suitable solution for you. Knee braces can provide support, stability, and pain relief for various knee issues, including meniscus tears. By wearing a knee brace, you can alleviate some of the stress on your knee and promote healing.
Avatar f tn I dislocated my knee in April this year, went to the hospital and they popped it back in. It took from April to July for me to recover, with different knee braces and pysico. A week after getting discharged from the hospital in July, my knee dislocated again however this time it popped back in by itself, it took until September for it to be fixed. I just got discharged from physio last week (November).
Avatar m tn Hence first physical therapy is started. Other treatments include knee caps and braces, taping the patella to reduce friction, anti inflammatory drugs, custom designed foot wear to correct arch problems if any and rest to the knee joint. Please discuss these treatment options with your specialist. You probably need an initial period of rest for the knee (maybe strapping it in braces) followed by physical therapy. Take care!
1308443 tn?1302693321 I am doing exercise I found online and wearing knee braces during karate. Nothing seems to help. The doctors keep telling me sorry just wait I out take 4 advil when they hurt. That doesn't help at all. Is there something else I should do or suggest to the doctors?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to wear knee braces whenever I am going to be on my feet a lot. The knee braces help a little but they drive me crazy. My doctor told me that I need to have knee surgery on both of my knees in order to prevent it from getting worse. I have refused the surgery and now two years later they are hurting worse than ever.
233622 tn?1279334905 I am not sure what AFO stands for but they are braces that go from just under my knee down under my foot. They are for foot drop and help support my legs and hips. They are not bad but it makes wearing shorts or a dress not as attractive as it used to be.
Avatar m tn 3) Can I continue with sports such as cricket, cycling and swimming if I wear knee braces/supports? If yes then which kind of knee braces/support? (because I usually tend to injure my knee with the elastic knee supports more often than without it). 4) Would Yoga, magnet therapy or any kind of therapy help heal the knee joint? Thanks in anticipation...
Avatar n tn I am 21 years old, and I play volleyball for about 10 years. Semi-pro, but very intensive trainings, also at summer beach volley... What also might be good to say, since I was a child I could (and still can) jump very high about a meter vertically. A few months ago, I started to have back pain, in my lower spine, and horrible knee pain.
Avatar f tn physical or occupational therapy, an exercise program, or wearing knee braces, to name a few. You may also consider some topical pain relievers such as capsaicin topical patches (Salonpas is one such product) applied 3-4 times daily when needed. A next step if topical therapies are ineffective may be to add Tylenol on an as needed basis.
457721 tn?1256640798 Hi Addysmom I just wanted to sympathise with your predicament and maybe also get some advice. I too have difficulties with my kneecaps due to a genetic disorder. Doctors refuse to touch my knees, for one because I am "too young" and two because they seem to be scared of complicating my situation even further. Have you concidered wearing "knee gaurds"/"knee braces" to stop your knee's from dislocating?
1587585 tn?1309432260 If yes then which kind of knee braces/support? (because I usually tend to injure my knee with the elastic knee supports more often than without it). 4) Would Yoga, magnet therapy or any kind of therapy help heal the knee joint? Thanks in anticipation...
Avatar f tn going down the steps makes it worse and sometimes feels like my knee is going to go out on me.. I had 2 scopes in both knees and 2 acl tears with screws in my knees..
Avatar m tn I would suggest you to wear proper foot wear and discuss with your orthopedician for use of braces, knee sleeves, arch supports and custom orthotics if these will help you. You can have arthritis at young age and when the joint cartilage is lost then you would need total knee replacement. Take care!
Avatar f tn Patello-femoral syndrome is typically managed with NSAIDS and physical exercises to strengthen the muscle around the knee joint. However with your symptoms, the presence of loose bodies and internal knee injuries may need to be ruled out. You may also require a knee brace to stabilize the patella if suggested. At this stage I would advise seeing an orthopedician and after an evaluation a management plan can be drafted accordingly. Hope this is useful. Take care!
Avatar f tn Try applying ice, over the counter painkillers, though these only provide temporary relief. Your doctor will also advise you about knee braces if relevant. You must also be examined for a spine disease like degenerative disc disease or prolapse. MRI spine would show any lumbar disc involvement. Treatment would depend on the diagnosis. You are welcome for further queries. Take care.
999692 tn?1250637950 I injured my knee when I was eighteen in a bicycle crash. I am now 28 and know I'd need surgery to fix it. I need a knee brace and to do strengthening exercises so I can still hike, bike, and run. Any suggestions on braces that can withstand such abuse?
Avatar m tn All the super foods do nothing. chiropractor, exercise, off loading knee braces. What am I missing. why has there been no change?
