Avatar n tn I may not know much about kidney stones, but I've had multiple bladder infections and risked kidney stones before when I was 18. One thing I can say, I'm not going to be 100% positive on it, but if your son drank cranberry juice (lots of it) check into the effects of the oxalates(in cranberries) and the calcium(in your urine) building up to possibly form kidney stones, the last question on the linked page will be helpful if that's the case. http://www.uti-cleanse.com/faqs.

If so, check out hypercalcemia (high blood calcium)...I know quite a bit about hepatitis, but not about autoimmune hepatitis...Hepatitis is simply inflammation of the liver caused by a myriad of things..Usually viruses, but not always...
Avatar f tn Lillyrose321, Stones can hit you at any age and the fact that you're having as many stones as you are would indicate that your own body likes to produce those little buggers. Age is not a factor in any of it! I'm in the same boat with you, although I'm quite a bit older than you at this point and didn't start having stones until I was about ten years older than you are now.
Avatar f tn http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/kidney-stones/basics/risk-factors/con-20024829 This has helpful medical information that your doctor would be able to understand and discuss with you about more uncommon causes: http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/239278-overview. Its important to remember that kidney stones are not uncommon and are easily treatable if followed up on. The other conditions are clinically rare.
Avatar n tn I suffer from what is called Polycystic Kidney Disease (google it) which causes chronic kidney stones. Many people have this disease with no signs until they are much older. When their kidneys begin to fail them. The main symptom is high blood pressure beginning as a young adult. why? Because your kidneys are working too hard fighting off the cysts and they are not filtering correctly. I was diagnosed with PKD in July last year after a car accident.

Avatar n tn I have a 23 year old daughter who was diagnosed as having "at least 1 cyst on her right kidney" five years ago. She recently had renal failure due to e coli (in January of this year). She had a ultra sound last week and they now say she has a cyst on her left kidney also. Is it common for a female so young to have these cysts?
540521 tn?1221699706 s a urinary tract infection, or it could be kidney stones as well. The kidney stones could be hiding, i have heard of that. Has your doctor given you anything for the pain? I hope everything goes well on Wednesday and hopefully they will have more answers for you. I know it's frustrating, and i am frustrated as well but i just take it one day at a time and i would tell your doctor just how much pain you are in, maybe he can help or give you a stronger medication.
Avatar f tn There are other types as well ( cystine, struvite , uric) Kidney stones may hold a genetic predisposition. In your case, the presence of kidney formers in the family may explain the onset of kidney stones at an earlier age. It is best to open lines of communication with your physicians. At this point, you may discuss on whether a referral to a pain management specialist may help.Continue following physician's advice regarding diet, fluid intake and exercise.
Avatar n tn He is 25 and last year began to have painful episodes with passing kidney stones. One stone had to be treated with shockwave lithroscopy. Scans indicate multiple, bilateral stones. Since that time, he has had gastric pain, nausea, flank pain, sleeplessness, etc. I had a parathyroid adenoma a couple of years ago myself, so I was familiar with the problems of high calcium and requested some tests. They have come back and shown a calcium level of 10.; 10.2 and 10.6. However, his PTH was 10.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I'm hoping some of you may have some advice or insight for me. Im a 32 yo otherwise healthy woman with a history of kidney stones, kidney infections and uti's. Ive had stones since the age of 18 and up until about 4 years ago i would only get them once or twice a year and they were always small enough to pass. At 28 i had my first stone that needed lithotripsy. Since then they've become much more frequent. This last 10 mos it has been at its absolute worst though.

Avatar m tn kidney stones can be very recurring and can start very young, although ive never heard of someone getting them in their early teens.. usually early 20s, but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen earlier. it sounds like you will have to sit in some pain until you get insurance again. you can try to seek out clinics, but theyre not very good at helping. get your insurance back and go to a dr, because if you have them so often, you might have something else going on.
Avatar m tn I passed about 4 stones a year from age 24 to 36, then beginning at age 37 I started passing stones weekly. I have good doctors but they all say the same thing - nothing in my system should make such stones. I am vegetarian, in good health, skinny, drink lots of water. But I have constant stones and constant stone pain. Its frustrating, but thus far there are no major health impacts...aside from being in constant pain and having to take pain meds a lot.
Avatar f tn It's been three weeks since my diagnosis of having multiple kidney stones on the right side. The Radiologist who gave me my stat results said I would pass them and didnt think straining my urine was something I needed to do. I finally got in to see my urologist he was upset I wasn't straining and wanted me to have surgery since I will be undergoing IVF treatments in March. I agreed because I don't want to deal with flare up while pregnant.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with kidney stones almost 3 years ago but I did not get them removed as my Dr told me they could not kill me or cause any life threatening diseases, but recentley I have noticed a little bit of stomach discomfort, I would like to say pain but it doesnt hurt , it kind of feels like something is there like gas, and my stomach gurgles a little bit and once in a while I will feel a little bit of a slight pinching pain in different spots over my belly , it feels like its through the b
Avatar m tn I've been having quite obvious blood in my urine since the last week of July. I've had all kinds of tests including one that was supposed to show whether there were any cancer cells being shed in the urine. Did she have that done? I've heard most people with kidney stones or kidney problems tend to have pain. For some reason I do not. Guess I'm lucky even though I am piddling rusty sludge.
Avatar f tn This is my first time making a posting here, I found this website while doing searches on kidney stones. I guess I am looking for advice or any feedback at all - anyone else my age experiencing such discomfort with stones? Please read. I'm 26 years old and I have been suffering from multiple stones in both kidneys for quite some time. Since December I have had 3 CT Scans, numerous x-rays, ultrasounds, urine tests, bloodwork, and lithotripy during my multiple trips to the ER.
Avatar n tn Hi, Kidney stones form when the components of urine are out of balance. When this happens, the urine contains more crystal-forming substances, such as calcium and uric acid. Kidney stones are also prone to develop in highly acidic or highly alkaline urine. Sometimes, the underlying cause is an inherited metabolic disorder or kidney disease. Gout, inflammatory bowel disease and some medications promote specific types of kidney stones.
