5900973 tn?1396064391 After weeks of pain and all sorts of symptoms I have learned I have kidney stones... I'm not thrilled about it but glad to know what has been going on.. There isn't much the dr can do for me so I just have to tough it out. Any one else go through this when they were pregnant?
Avatar n tn The uptake and washout of urine from the kidney was slow compared to the other kidney (about 70% vs 30% function for good and bad kidney instead of 50-50). So clearly there is a ureter obstruction. Now the urologist wants to do a retrograde pyelography to really determine the cause of the obstruction, whether it's a stone or stricture. My question is that, what's the likelihood it is a stone or a stricture?
533063 tn?1262366101 After a thoroughly, wonderfully *fun* run around with 5 kidney stones back in November of last year, I found out that i had a rather nice dermoid ovarian cyst. No worries, got that taken care of...but was back at the doctor a few months later only to find out that I was working on mild hypothyroid issue! Low and behold, just the other day (and back at the doctor...again), i felt those tell-tale signs that another stone was on its way through my system... all this within the span of 7 months.
Avatar n tn Kidney stones are painful and I have been hospitalized too many times to count just to get antibiotics and iv dilodid for a week each time and still got sent home on strong pain killers. The only thing worse than kidney stones is kidney stones while pregnant. It is a different kind of pain then delivery. Labor is a pain that has a reward for going through it. Passing kidney stones is a pain with no reward other than the end of the pain.
7808984 tn?1406680965 Hi dirk, I'm so sorry you are going through this. I've heard that kidney stones are one of the most painful conditions of all. I understand how you feel. I broke my leg and required surgery to put in plates and screws to repair the bone. I had to take pain meds as well. I was able to have someone keep complete control of them for me. I took them only when necessary to relieve the pain, and only as directed. It wasn't easy, but it worked. You can get through this.
Avatar f tn Had Gallbladder removed 11yrs ago after childbirth. No discomfort. All blood work good. Blood pressure good. Physical/Pap good. Urine Cytology good. Urinalysis has detected trace occult blood. This has happened with several urinalysis. What could this be? Could this be normal for me?
Avatar f tn the other with typical horrible pain. My dad had many stones so there is family history concerning stones. Until this stone found on CT a few yrs ago I haven't had another one. I don't know if I ever passed that stone; it was, thankfully asymptomatic. Last week I had my yearly physical & micro blood was found in the urinalysis. My dr ordered a culture & it is negative for infection.
Avatar n tn t move or I need help from someone. A friend mentioned a possibility of kidney infection, doctor said possibly sciatica. No medicine or massage helps. Anyone else have this happen??
Avatar f tn They can do Utererscopy or URS on stones still in the kidney... but, kidney stones have to be in the urine collecting part of the kidney, the parenchyma to be removed... other than if stuck in the ureter, bladder, and the junctions from kidney to ureter and the other one. I can't remember all of this. This is an intracorporal procedure... the source to break up the stone is inside the kidney. A utererscope is used with various attachments.
342647 tn?1291107933 I suffer from kidney stones... they suck, but I have a high pain tolerance and opt not to take anything. Yes, they hurt... but if you think about how the pain won't last forever, it helps. And, the stones would have to be pretty large for them to cause kidney damage. Just so you know, most of the time kidney stones resolve themselves. They will break down in the kidneys and most of the time you won't even know you are passing them.
Avatar n tn I have awful nausea and vomiting (just like with my other pregnancies). To complicate it, I also have kidney stones causing severe pain and more nausea and vomiting. I have been to the ER two times in the past week for the dehydration and pain. I only feel better for a day and then it starts up again...bad. How do I know when to tough it out at home or go to the ER? I feel like a pain in the butt when I have to go back.

Avatar f tn s), colitis, kidney stones, kidney infection, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cyst, ovarian torsion, ectopic pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease, hernia, and/or cancer. You should see your doctor, as proper diagnosis depends upon clinical history, physical examination, and laboratory and/or imaging tests.
Avatar n tn A subsequent CT scan revealed I had 2 additionall ( 2mm non-obstructing) stones in my right kidney and a cluster of at least (four 2-3 mm stones in my left kidney). They were also non-obstructive. I've been told by a couple of doctors and urologists that they cannot be the cause of my pain, even though the pain feels just like when I had obsturctive ones. I can also feel the damn things moving around and it causes me to have kidney spasms.
324184 tn?1308076203 If your daughter starts topamax, be sure to find a urologist. One of the major side effects of topamax is kidney stones. After taking it for my migraines for two years, I had kidney's full of stones. I have had three operations to rid myself of them and the surgery/recovery is very painful. The neurologist found out that I was in the hospital for a week ( the first time) and no kidding..yelled into the phone.. OH MY GOSH...ITS THE TOPAMAX!
Avatar m tn To start I'd need to explain I pass several kidney stones a year sometimes several a month and I have an extremely high level of pain on a daily basis from the infections they cause as well as the buildup of scar tissue. There is no fix for my condition. The best I've ever hoped for is maintaining pain until being deceased. My doctor recently took it upon himself to move me to Suboxone and tapper me off pain medication completely.
Avatar m tn The second was without contrast and was focused on my kidneys for the stone. They said I was negative for kidney stones and found plenty of other stuff wrong in other areas, anyways. They said there was no exidence of a stone but I feel a very faint, dull pain on my left side. Is it possible the CT scan missed it? I think they made 5 passes... Any help or info would be great, thanks!
Avatar m tn I have neuropothy which is under control with minimal amounts of Norco and methadone ( not a user just no insurance and its cheap). I am having kidney stones and the doctor put me on Percocet and told me to stop the Norco..Is Percocet stronger than Norco? The stones are killing me.
Avatar f tn I have had a CT scan and an ultra sound of my bladder and kidneys just to rule those out as I had two kidney infections and a severe UTI back to back in the beginning of January. That all came back clear of stones and infections. Due to my symptoms being so similar to gallbladder, I had an ultra sound , a CT scan (with dye), and a Hida scan of my gallbladder. The Hida scan showed my gallbladder was functioning at 85%, and the ultra sound showed no stones.

Avatar m tn In the last month I had to go to the ER for kidney stones. After taking a CAT scan it showed that I have several stones still in my kidneys. I have an appointment with a kidney doctor who is a stone specialist according to my uroligist. However the appointment isn't until April. So i am sitting here hoping not to have another problem until then. Anyone had the same problem as me. As for my stones most are very small (2 mm).
Avatar f tn The biggest problem with kidney stones is inducing labor since your body is in distress I have a history of them and my ob told Mr if I feel like I'm having kidney pain to go to the hospital right away just to be safe they will usually keep you over night and make sure you pass them they don't directly affect the baby
