Avatar f tn UTI can also be due to the polycystic kidney disease as well. Kidney stones and kidney failure are late-stage symptoms of the disease. I suggest you an immediate urologist’s evaluation. If the size of the stone is small, it’s usually treated with ESWL in which shock waves are given from outside and stone breaks into small pieces. On the other hand, if the stone is quite big, then the surgical removal of the stone is a better option. Also her renal functions need to be studied.
440941 tn?1243648084 The big reason for testing is to make sure that the kidney is not being obstructed for a long period of time which can cause kidney damage. The ultrasound should have at least told them if the kidney was enlarged. If not at least you can wait a little longer to let it pass.
Avatar f tn hi, Do you feel any symptoms such as pain in the back or flank area? Shadows in a kidney ultrasound can show the presence of a stone. This is because sound waves cannot pass through a stone, thus, it "casts a shadow" on the ultrasound picture.
Avatar m tn As per ultrasound report there is a minor hydronophrosis in the right kidney. Are there any more stones left in the kidney but not seen in the ultrasound? or there is any other reason of this pressure and dull pain?
Avatar n tn I just wandered if anyone has had kidney stones or bladder stones with NO symptoms, and also whether it is commonplace for people to have crystals in urine - does this necessarily mean stones? Should I be worried that this could signal something worse (like cancer), or would the blood work up have hinted at this? I'm erring on whether to wait patiently for an NHS urologist (could take up to 6 weeks), or whether to investigate this privately, which would mean borrowing money.
Avatar n tn Hi, Hematuria or blood in the urine may be a symptom of recurrent kidney stones. Are there other signs or symptoms present? There is an increased chance of stone recurrence with patients with history of stone formation. A urinalysis and ultrasound of the KUB may be able to help with the diagnosis. It would be best to see your doctor for furtehr evaluation and management. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn If the stone is too large to pass easily, pain as well as blood may appear in the urine. Your symptoms highly suggest kidney stones but I recommend that you have this evaluated further by your doctor. Diagnosis is through an x ray or ultrasound. The results of these tests help determine the proper treatment. Furthermore, the chance of recurring stones is high. That is why it is also important to determine which type of stone is formed to prevent the formation.
540521 tn?1221699706 s a urinary tract infection, or it could be kidney stones as well. The kidney stones could be hiding, i have heard of that. Has your doctor given you anything for the pain? I hope everything goes well on Wednesday and hopefully they will have more answers for you. I know it's frustrating, and i am frustrated as well but i just take it one day at a time and i would tell your doctor just how much pain you are in, maybe he can help or give you a stronger medication.
Avatar m tn Doctor could not reach the stone so he ended up putting the stent and asked me to drink water (he predicted stones to be uric acid stones). Then I went for ultrasound every 10 days. 1st ultrasound said I have only 2 stones remaining. 2nd ultrasound said I had 1 stone of 6mm remaining. 3rd ultrasound said I had 1 stone of 8mm. Assuming ultrasound is not very accurate in getting the stone size - I assumed that it would be 7mm stone. All this while stent was inside my body.
Avatar m tn Hi there. I'm so sorry you're having these urinary issues. Hematuria AND bilateral hydronephrosis... Not fun for you. Are you experiencing any flank pain? What type of scan did they perform? What medication(s) are you taking? Do you have any other abnormal symptoms? The reason I ask about what kind of scan was used to make the assessment, is that not all types of stones show up on X-rays.
Avatar n tn In Dec, ultrasound showed hydronephrosis and hydroureter with stones again in the lower pole of the kidney. Nothing was done other than observation. In Jan, a bunch of small stones passed naturally. Last week, Feb, a mag3 renal scan and ultrasound were done that showed hydronephrosis and hydroureter still present but no stones in the kidney. The uptake and washout of urine from the kidney was slow compared to the other kidney (about 70% vs 30% function for good and bad kidney instead of 50-50).
Avatar n tn You need to be further evaluted by your urologist to look for any secondary stones or a recurrence of the stones. Get an ultrasound done.
Avatar m tn m figuring that kidney stones take a while to form and that, if I have kidney stones and possibly an infection, it's likely that I had the kidney stones first and they contributed to the infection, rather that having an infection first that contributed to the kidney stones (sorry if this sounds confusing).

Befor they just threw a script of percs at me and idpass it on my own.
Avatar f tn Have you had any fevers, painful urination, or blood in your urine? Perhaps you are suffering from a kidney infection or kidney stones. Is the pain sharp or dull? Does it come and go or is it constant? I would ask your doctor about doing an ultrasound, MRI or CT scan. Blood tests can be helpful in leading doctors down the right road to a diagnosis, but many times they are useless and other tests need to be done.
11610581 tn?1419814808 I just recently was diagnosed with an 8mm stone in my ureter, half way between my kidney and bladder determained by an ultrasound despite clear urine (no infection or blood)
Avatar m tn you should do the renal ultrasound, sometimes kidney stones do give pain and other symptoms like nause. you can break stones with lithotripsy, or treat renal lithiasis with traditional Chinese medicine. You think it is wired pain on your right side, that could be the referred pain, or you have ever falled down recently or spend too much time sit on your chair for a long time? Did you ever find blood in your urine?
Avatar f tn Anyone else have kidney stones..? If so what do you do about it. It is SO painful..
Avatar f tn s a coincident urinary tract infection along with kidney stones, which may be seen in struvite kidney stones. Ultrasound is the safest investigation to figure this out, as there's no radiation involved. If your pain still hasn't gotten any better even after a few weeks I would see your doctor to make the ultrasound urgent, as symptomatic kidney stones left too long can cause problems for your kidneys.

Avatar f tn STart taking vitamins. Get a cat scan or ultrasound. You could have back pain from kidney/gall stones too. It could be an easy thing so dont pain. Cancer for ovarian is CA125 blood test - ask if they will do that too. Always get copies of your reports and tests and ask them to be explained to you. Keep looking for a reason. Maybe you have allergies and if so go to a dermatologist or allergist to find out. GOod luck.
