Avatar f tn I am new to kidney stones. I passed my first kidney stone about 2 months ago and I know I have two more. A 2mm on one side and a 4 on the other side. The first one I had happened at night, so I woke up in pain. I am just wondering is there symptoms you can feel when you are awake. Just 4 days ago, I had 4 very sharp pains in the right side my back over a 2 hour period. Today I am hit with a wave of nausea.
Avatar n tn E with severe pain in my back right hand side just underneath my ribs. After many scans, tests and ultrasounds I was told I had kidney stones. After months more of scans and wasted time I saw a kidney stone specialist who has said the stones are still in my kidney and that the pain I am still experiencing is not caused by them. I'm now at a loss as to what it can be as I was sure the two were related, especially with so many people confirming kidney stones do cause a lot of pain.
Avatar n tn Hi, Renal calculi can vary in size from as small as grains of sand to as large as a golf ball. Kidney stones typically leave the body by passage in the urine stream, and many stones are formed and passed without causing symptoms. If stones grow to sufficient size before passage—on the order of at least 2-3 millimeters—they can cause obstruction of the ureter.
Avatar m tn Hi there. Most kidney stones less than 6mm in size can be treated conservatively. If pain, nausea and vomiting can be controlled, most of these stones will pass spontaneously. one must be well hydrated while trying to pass stone. Pain can be controlled with NSAIDs and narcotics on prescription if the pain is very distressing. the stone can be kept track of for weeks to months if there is no significant obstruction and if nausea and vomiting are tolerable and there is no active infection.
Avatar f tn t show up in 30% of kidney stones. I have a feeling that this is a kidney stone since the pain is moving down. We shall see! Thanks again!
Avatar f tn The treatment for kidney stones depends on their size and what they are made of and also if they are causing pain or obstructing the urinary tract. Small stones usually pass through the urinary tract without treatment. It is good advice to stay well hydrated as that should prevent the stones from getting any bigger or new ones from forming. For kidney pain you may take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen .
714049 tn?1232641094 ruled out kidney stones. What could it be? I have constant pain, and the nausea is brought on with even a sip of water. PS: No chance I'm pregnant, I've had a hysterectomy, but do have my ovaries.
Avatar f tn I had the same symptoms last year and it turned out to be kidney stones. I didn't want to take the time to go for the tests (I had the exact same symptoms (I can sympathize with your pain)). It took intolerable pain and severe flu-like symptoms (back pain, abdominal pain that traveled down my right leg, nausea, vomiting, severe headache, high fever) to finally get me to go to the hospital. They found the 100% blockage in my right ureter via CT Scan with contrast.
Avatar m tn About three weeks ago I started to have some painful urination. I quickly noticed i was passing small seed like things in my urine. This happen once before last december and I went to tge ER. They didnt find any blood in my urine and discharged me without doing anything else. Those went away after a few days. This times they didnt going away so i went to my uni doc. She did a check for for sti's(which wasnt a concern).
Avatar m tn kidney, passed some fragmented particles but there are still stones in both kidneys. Apparently, stones in Lt. kidney can cause nausea and vomiting and pain can make one nauseous. I drink water to the point I am going to explode but still no stones pass. One physician mentioned that the stones can irritate the kidneys causing hematuria and increased incidence of UTIs. It is very difficult working and functioning to full capacity when you get those sharp pains, burning etc.
Avatar n tn Hi, It does seem to me like you are having stones in the kidney. The symptom of pain you have described is very typical of it trying to be expelled from the body. Symptoms of kidney stones include colicky pain: "loin to groin". Often described as "the worst pain ever experienced." Other symptoms could be blood in the urine, due to minor damage to inside wall of kidney, ureter and/or urethra. Pyuria: pus in the urine. Dysuria: burning on urination when passing stones.
Avatar m tn m figuring that kidney stones take a while to form and that, if I have kidney stones and possibly an infection, it's likely that I had the kidney stones first and they contributed to the infection, rather that having an infection first that contributed to the kidney stones (sorry if this sounds confusing).
Avatar f tn The pain could be new stones or due to stones passed down from the kidney. If they are radio opaque they can be picked up by X rays. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I've had kidney stones twice. First time I had severe pain in one of my kidneys. Second time I didn't know I had kidney stones until I was urinating blood. Then the pain set in. Not fun either time.
Avatar m tn you should do the renal ultrasound, sometimes kidney stones do give pain and other symptoms like nause. you can break stones with lithotripsy, or treat renal lithiasis with traditional Chinese medicine. You think it is wired pain on your right side, that could be the referred pain, or you have ever falled down recently or spend too much time sit on your chair for a long time? Did you ever find blood in your urine?
554628 tn?1362777919 Hi, nausea, headache and kidney pain can be related with nephropathy (kidney disorder), urine test and blood urea and creatinine are usually done for diagnosis. Kidney stones do cause similar kind of symptoms; ultrasound is quite diagnostic for stones.
Avatar n tn Renal colic can be asymptomatic and symptomatic. Symptoms range from flank pain, urinary tract obstruaction, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting to severe azotemia and urosepsis. Causes for the formation of renal colic can be inadequate hydration, diet comprising of animal fats and too much calcium, infections, errors in metabolism which lead to accumulation of some salts preparing a ground for the formation of stones in the kidney, malfunctioning of the kidney etc.
Avatar n tn However during the testing, 2 kidney stones showed. I since passed those - hoping that was the problem. I am still having the same kind of pains and nausea. The doctor wants me to have a Hida scan - however, I went to see another doctor who is running some blood and urine tests. I am just so frustrated and sick of this. I won't know anything until March 10th about everything. Does any of this sound familiar with anyone? I am so tired of feeling blah!
Avatar m tn It showed one +4mm kidney stones in my kidney. All my bloodwork and urine were fine. Was put on Flomax and told to screen my urine. All through the next two weeks i had constant pain in my left groin area but also had bursts of travelling pain from my kidney to my groin. Passed two smaller stones and several fragments. pain was increasing in my groin and started having nausea.
472139 tn?1211332563 Hi, Renal calculi can vary in size from as small as grains of sand to as large as a golf ball. Kidney stones typically leave the body by passage in the urine stream, and many stones are formed and passed without causing symptoms. The resulting obstruction with dilation or stretching of the upper ureter and renal pelvis as well as spasm of muscle, trying to move the stone, can cause severe episodic pain, most commonly felt in the flank, lower abdomen and groin (a condition called renal colic).
Avatar f tn Hi there have they perhaps looked at your gall bladder? It can cause intermittant pain in your back in fact it's reffered pain particularly after eating and can seem like it's all over and the nausea is something else. I had loads of vague symptoms like this for a very long time and eventually gall bladder was septic with stones and had to be removed. Check back with your doctor though as it could be any number of things. All the best.
Avatar f tn 5 weeks ago I started having really bad pain on my back/side, nausea, urinary urgency, along with a few other of my classic kidney stone symptoms. I have been drinking like crazy since then and taking Flomax 1x day. The pain only lasted 2 days and then it went to my normal being "crampy" on my side here and there like I usually have. The urinary urgency has not left. At times it's really bad and other times it's not.
Avatar f tn Iv received unprotected oral sex from 6 different people over the past 2 mos. About two weeks ago i had a pain in my back which i think is kidney stones. But, last night i had a blood blister in my mouth after eating a hot pretzel that was over cooked hard and sharp. After eating i fount the blister and a small round scrape in the mouth that was bleeding a little(you can see the scraped skin on the edge).
Avatar n tn The most common signs and symptoms of kidney infections are nausea, vomiting, abdominal fullness, lower back ache, frequent urination, the urge to urinate, pus or blood in the urine, fever. A complete history, clinical examination and investigations may be helpful. Tests like endoscopy, ultrasound abdomen, kidney, ureter bladder and Barium studies may be needed for confirming the diagnosis. I hope it helps. Do keep us posted on how he is doing.Take care and regards.
