Avatar n tn and the day after that, i had mild discomfort and pain in my lower back. a nurse has told me that i have kidney stones, but i haven't had xrays or anything. these symptoms in my lower back have lasted for 4 days now. when i wake up in the morning, i don't notice anything at all, but by the end of the day, i'm sore in my lower back especially when seated, it doesn't bother me so much when i'm standing up or laying on my stomach.
280369 tn?1316702041 I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between lower back pain or a kidney problem?? For the last 2 days, I have had this annoying ache in my back. It's the lower right side and radiates straight up a few inches as well. I usually get sciatic nerve pain pretty bad during pregnancy and have had some this time around and I know what that feels like. But this is different.
Avatar f tn The other problem in that area that it could be is related to the kidney, so it could be a kidney infection or kidney stones. He would have other symptoms with an infection like an urgent need to urinate or frequent urges to urinate. He could also have a fever, cloudy, dark or very strong smelling urine. With kidney stones there is not always pain if they do not move and a stone can be as small as a grain of sand and can sometimes be felt like colic.

Avatar n tn I am a 40 year old female. I have constant lower back pain on my left side when I am sleeping, and am able to get temporary relief, sometimes, after I urinate. It is severe enough to interrupt my sleep and recently is causing me to have night sweats. I have a doctors appointment in a month, and the general belief is that I might have urine backing up into my kidney. I have had these symptoms for a while and have been told that I do not have an infection, or a stone.
Avatar n tn A few days ago I started having dull aching pain in the lower right side of by back. Not in my spine. I thought it was from my mattress, which was bought a couple of months ago. When I wake up my back feels very stiff and achy but the pain doesn't go away after moving around. It's not intolerable or severe. It just feels like a "crick" in my lower back. I was wondering if it may be the sciatic nerve. I haven't had any trauma and not could it be from exercise.
Avatar f tn I am 7wks 4days and I am experience this too! I have lower back pain but its in my right side! Mine is caused by my kidney! I am also consider high risk too! With the prenatal vitamins it has flared up my kidney stones! I always get kidney infections when passing stones! I would have it check next time you go to the doctor! I also recommend that you drink lots and lots of water...this will flush the kidneys and may relieve that pain if that is what is causing it foe you!

Avatar m tn I have been told by the first doc I saw weeks ago it wont be kidney stones as I would feel them all the time but this pain is as niggling and awful as gall stones which I had in my twenties. I agree though that it eases after being up an hour or so but each day goes by and I can feel it more and more in the day. I did some harsh movements twisting whilst swimming a couple of months ago and wonder if this could have torn anything.
Avatar n tn I am almost 20 weeks along. I have having severe back pain on just my lower right side. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn Hello kidneychick, Are you saying that because of your two experiences with kidney stones in the past that you are sure your lower right back pain now is a kidney stone or has a physician taken an X Ray or Cat Scan and seen a kidney stone? I'm just curious on how you can determine it's definitely a kidney stone causing your pain.
Avatar f tn I went to the ER last Monday,I was having lower abdomen pain as well as some lower back pain and painful urination. The doctor seemed to think it was kidney stones so he did a ct scan.He said he couldn't see any stones but they could have been vry small and in my ureter{not sure of spelling} he also said he saw some diverticulitis in my colon and to make appointment with family doctor. He rleased me with official diagnosis of kidney stones, motrin for pain.
Avatar n tn There are several things that could be responsible for your pain. The obvious given what you stated .... moving Kidney Stones! However if it is Kidney Stones be prepared for that pain to become extreme and possible send you to seek immediate medical attention. It's been several days since you posted how are you doing today? Again if it a kidney stone the pain can wax and wain as the stone moves and then can stop. If it's a very tiny stone, gravel..
Avatar n tn Hello, From the symptoms that you have mentioned, chances of kidney or ureteric stones are more. They may cause back pain and flank pain and referred pain in the testicles as well. Treatment varies from medicines to surgical approach to extra corporeal shock wave lithotripsy depending on the size and position of stone. My sincere advice would be to consult a urologist and get ultrasound/CT lower abdomen done to confirm the diagnosis. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar n tn i have the same problem with lower back pain on the right side. the last time i went to the emergency room they said it was a pinched nerve. i have a history of constant kidneystones.
Avatar f tn This morning I woke up with a pain in my lower right abdomen. Its a constant dull pain, about a 4 or 5 on the 1-10 scale. The main pain is about directly 2-3inches to the left of my ASIS. It feels a little bit better when I'm sitting up instead of laying down. I have been going to the bathroom alot more than normal, but the stool is pretty normal, not diarhea.
Avatar n tn Other kidney stone symptoms may include nausea, diarrea, vomiting, blood in the urine and severe pain in your lower back (I mean . DO NOT let your symptoms continue for more than a week. See a physician. My kidney stones were serious (this 2nd time). See my post titled Symptoms Following Ureteroscopy with Laser.
Avatar f tn If it gets real bad it can completely block off the kidney and make the person septic. Although back pain is common in pregnancy it is normally the entire lower back. Your description of the area sounds like kidney location.
Avatar f tn as long as you have a normal kidney on the other side. Certainly the pain your having could be from ureteral stones, and ureteroscopy is preferred in lower ureteral stones in child-bearing age women because lithotripsy may bruise the ovaries if used for lower ureteral stones. Infection is unlikely as infection and an obstructing stone usually leads to a high fever and is an emergency.
