5900973 tn?1396064391 I found out monday I have kidney stones for the 2nd time this pregnancy... :( I am going in friday for my csection and just hoping the pain eases up for me or that I just pass the dang stone... I dont want to be dealing with that after the birth. It just seems like bad timing, not that there is a good time for these things... Tmi but my urine looks like cranberry juice, kinda scary but I know its from the stone. I have been drinking tons of water.
Avatar m tn I think this is a rational concern. Yes, kidney stones can cause damage to the kidneys. Not all the time though. It can cause the kidney to atrophy, thin and not function as well. Or an infection can happen related to the stones. But, when the damage happens, it is usually when the stones are not detectible in terms of symptoms. The person doesn't have pain so they go a very long time with the stone. You had pain and are scheduled for surgery.
Avatar n tn calcium oxalate stones, struvite stones, uric acid stones or cystine stones. Potassium citrate is used for the treatment of stones. Treatment modes include oral medicines, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithrotripsy (ESWL), uteroscopic stone removal and percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Please discuss these treatment options with your urologist. Also take less calcium and oxalate rich foods and supplements like dairy products, colas, chocolate, peanuts, leafy vegetables, and tea. I hope it helps.
Avatar f tn I am new to this but I wanted to get on and figure out if anyone has had any symptoms like me.... I have had a pain in my right lower back since January. It started out only coming about once a month over my period...then it became more frequent. I went to the doctor and he sent me to a urologist. He said that I had kidney stones. But they were still in my kidney and they don't hurt while in the kidney. He did many cat scans, xrays, and a 24 hour urine test.
Avatar f tn i am used to the pain and can deal with it, what scares me is the kidney pain. normally i dont get kidney pain with the stones. i had to have only one stone removed surgically, it was stuck in the lining of my urethra, total pain on that episode before and after! Does anyone have any knowledge on preventing calcium oxalate stones that i havent tried already? i cant take diuretics because of a sulfa allergy, the potassium citrate does nothing, and i have slowed down on tea and cheese.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with kidney stones almost 3 years ago but I did not get them removed as my Dr told me they could not kill me or cause any life threatening diseases, but recentley I have noticed a little bit of stomach discomfort, I would like to say pain but it doesnt hurt , it kind of feels like something is there like gas, and my stomach gurgles a little bit and once in a while I will feel a little bit of a slight pinching pain in different spots over my belly , it feels like its through the b
Avatar n tn In Dec, ultrasound showed hydronephrosis and hydroureter with stones again in the lower pole of the kidney. Nothing was done other than observation. In Jan, a bunch of small stones passed naturally. Last week, Feb, a mag3 renal scan and ultrasound were done that showed hydronephrosis and hydroureter still present but no stones in the kidney. The uptake and washout of urine from the kidney was slow compared to the other kidney (about 70% vs 30% function for good and bad kidney instead of 50-50).
Avatar m tn Hi, The prostate stones are usually asymptomatic and in case they are symptomatic like they produce any pain or are associated with any infection, the only remedy is the surgical removal. There are no medications to get rid of the stones. Please consult a urologist for the same. I sincerely hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Take care.
Avatar m tn after few months he started having issue with his kidney, which then suspected by the doctor that there could be kidney stones which is causing problem. Doctor prescribed the medicine to break kidney stones and pass them through urine. Now, my friend is having issues with his male reproductive organ, he said, his organ is not properly working, just using it to pass urine, other than that he does not feel anything except the pain in testicles.
Avatar f tn Hi and WELCOME to our Kidney Stone Community. I'm not a doctor, but do have too much experience with kidney stones. For me, I'd get pings and pangs in my kidney as well as microhematuria (blood you cannot see by eye) in my urine when I have stones. I've also had the flank pain you describe .. for me it's been in the lower back. I hope with lots of water your stones move out for you uneveventfully. Please keep in touch. From what I've read stones <5.
Avatar f tn Hi mommies and mommies to be, as of Saturday I was 22weeks and admitted to the hospital for a reoccurring kidney issue. ( about 2.5 years ago I almost died from ecoli in my left kidney and was in the hospital for 12 days with Iv anti biotics and 3 months out of work and on meds by mouth) I came in 3 weeks ago for kidney pain and was found to have a bacterial infection, was given bactrum in a very high dose for 3 days...
Avatar m tn Small kidney stones may naturally be expelled through the urine while bigger stones may cause obstruction and infection. Take the medicine as prescribed and do keep us posted with your follow-up. Best regards.
Avatar n tn My husband has a history of kidney stones (like his father who has suffered with them for over 30 years). This time however, he didn't experience the pain in his side, back or abdomen. Instead he has pain in the tip of his penis. He doesn't believe he has passed the stone yet but has not been straining his urine (strainer is lost - been a while since last stone). Is it possible he passed the stone and the pain is the remnants of this? He is not vomiting nor does he have fever.
Avatar f tn I had a 4.5mm kidney stone in my left kidney and it passed out and i did two times ultrasound and doctor said their are no more stones but their is pain still in my left side in front and in my testicles and sometimes in right side also at the back..
Avatar f tn Small stones less than 5 mm are let to pass naturally, with medications support and by drinking plenty of oral fluids. For stones greater than 5mm upto 2cm options like Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) are used to break up the stone. Good Luck. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn As you have had/still have calcium oxalate stones, your risk of getting more kidney stones is much increased. Avoid the foods mentioned and browse the web for more information on oxalate rich foods that you should avoid or eat less of. It is also very important to always stay well hydrated. Your urologist may have advised you to drink 2 litres of fluids (4 pints) during the day, more if you are doing exercises that make you sweat or perspiring in hot weather.
Avatar m tn Firstly drink more water (and then a little more). Secondly go easy on your tool. Try adding some apple cider vinegar to your water (teaspoon per 12oz) drink at least 2-3 of these a day. Also, just because it's so good at regulating all the microbes going on from your gut to your exits add more garlic to your diet. If you are passing stones then you might be tearing tiny fissures in your urethra and letting in other potential issues. Garlic will help neutralize this naturally.
Avatar n tn These agents aren't known to cause kidney stones. Most kidney stones in the US are caused by our diet which is rich in meat protein. Calcium supplementation does increase the risk of kidney stones. As far as the blood pressure goes, he should probably have his dose of the lisinopril reduced. Alternatively, there are other agents such as calcium channel blockers, beta blockers or Angiotensine receptor blockers that can also be tried. I would probably avoid diuretics at this point.
Avatar n tn Causes can be divided according to the affected organ and they are Kidney conditions (infection, pyelonephritis, kidney stones, polycystic kidney disease), Bladder conditions (cystitis, bladder polyp, bladder tumor), Urethral conditions (Sexually transmitted diseases, urethral injury, vaginal inflammation), and certain bleeding disorders. You should visit your urologist who needs to conduct a detailed examination. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I was born with a condition that causes my body to create kidney stones. I have been to the emergency room 4 or 5 times in the past 18 years for the large stones, small ones pass ok. My first stone caused bleeding and severe back pain also with pain in the lower abdomen area along with hot/cold flashes and vomiting. It may feel like someone is squeezing your kidney while at the same time stabbing it with an ice pick. I first though it was my appendix. I was wrong. Water, water, water.
Avatar n tn My husband started having problems with kidney stones about 3 wks ago. He has had them before, so we knew what to expect. About a wk ago, he was still hurting and peeing blood, even though ct scan showed all stones were gone. They ran a scope up his urethra, and he had a stone stuck. Dr said just drink water, and it will dislodge. We are not sure if the stone has dislodged or not, but now he is peeing blood, pus is leaking from his urethra, his testicals hurt, and his kidneys hurt.
