urine flow can be comprimised if stone blocks ureter and kidney will swell causing back pain towards side. if left untreated can cause infection. go see a urologist or nephrologist as soon as you can or strain urine at home everytime you pee till pain is completely gone. some stones take forever to pass and others are quick. its good to know what kind of stone you have to try to prevent another. good luck.

it could have turned to a kidney infection or even kidney stones which is what i have right now.. o would give them a call they may wantyou to get checked out.

If you have kidney stones and they are not moving you should not have significant pain.However if you do not have kidney stones that are moving or partially blocking the passage of urine you need to have your pain diagnosed. I have a long history of stones and know how very extreme the pain can be. My heart goes out to you and anyone who passes kidney stones.

I suggest you see a dr asap, severe pain is usually a sign that something is wrong. Given it's location, it sounds like a kidney problem such as kidney stones is possible.. and those can get nasty if left untreated.

From what I have read, stones should pass in 24-48 hours, and I definitely have stones, the x-rays the ER gave me said so. But why do I still have them? My main concern is kidney failure. If gone untreated over a time period such as mine, can stones lead to kidney failure? Any knowledge of this subject would be much appreciated.

Hi, nausea, headache and kidney pain can be related with nephropathy (kidney disorder), urine test and blood urea and creatinine are usually done for diagnosis. Kidney stones do cause similar kind of symptoms; ultrasound is quite diagnostic for stones.

Thanks for the reply i had a kidney scan when i was pregnant which revealed that my right kidney where i get the pain is slightly bigger with urine around it what is this ? and causes this ????

Your doctor may also help remove stones that do not pass on their own using a cystoscope or a small tube that passes through the urethra to the bladder. I am having a lithroscopy to break up kidney stones a stent may have to be put in place in order that the stones can pass. I have read and heard how uncomfortable this can be and are there other options to having a stent put in place.

In February surprise, surprise, I started having this chronic pain in my right and left kidneys. About a month passed along with the kidney stones in my right kidney, but my left flank and groin area continued to hurt for about a month. My mom was nervous about me having a CT scan(radiation) done to see what exactly was causing my pain so I had an IVP instead to see if there was any obstruction. No obstruction was shown nor stones.

I been having pain in my left kidney area which is flanking over to front side. I went to ER 12/28/14, where they took blood and did a urinalysis as well. My potassium was low. They did not do a CT scan..even though my urine was clear. It still is hurting.

I'm going through the same thing, agonising pain in my right kidney on and off all day and night. I went to A & E and had a pee test which came back fine. The nurse said it could be kidney stones or kidney infection, it just might not have shown up. I had this problem in 2004 and had all sorts of tests and they never found out what was up, after a few months the pain passed and I havent had a problem since up until I went for a routine scan with my pregnancy and now i am in sheer agony.

The pain could be new stones or due to stones passed down from the kidney. If they are radio opaque they can be picked up by X rays. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

As per ultrasound report there is a minor hydronophrosis in the right kidney. Are there any more stones left in the kidney but not seen in the ultrasound? or there is any other reason of this pressure and dull pain?
