1966687 tn?1325731223 It is pretty common for something like a kidney stone to cause blood in urine. These can get extremely serious may even be the cause of an UTI, although sometimes they can pass without notice nor problem. I'm not saying this is what caused the blood in the urine, just using it as an example because kidney stones are pretty common. As it is, do your best to not be afraid, and make sure you keep up with your doctor.

Avatar f tn How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger? Are these stones causing damage to my kidneys? They don’t seem to be causing any blockages based on the ultrasounds that have been done, but I still have had frequent flank pain and blood visible in my urine prior to the surgery. Is there any hope that I will be able to be stone free and prevent more stones?
Avatar n tn m not going to be 100% positive on it, but if your son drank cranberry juice (lots of it) check into the effects of the oxalates(in cranberries) and the calcium(in your urine) building up to possibly form kidney stones, the last question on the linked page will be helpful if that's the case. http://www.uti-cleanse.com/faqs.php If not, the doctors could be just concerning about kidney infection due to the bladder infection which can get very serious.
5787494 tn?1387148684 With my 1st pregnancy I was having pains in my right kidney all day couldn't tell what the problem was and wasn't peeing blood or anything. Went to the hospital since it wouldn't go away after a couple hours and it turned out to be kidney stones. I've never had them in my life but apparently pregnant women can get a calcium build up and it causes them. If the pain goes on for a long time I'd get it checked just in case.
Avatar f tn Regarding your chest pain, causes maybe cardiac in origin or not, but not from kidney stones. But if you experience this, it is important that you seek medical help for proper evaluation. You can read more about this through this link: http://www.emedicinehealth.com/chest_pain/page2_em.htm#Chest%20Pain%20Causes I hope this helps. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I have had a KUB that has detected approximately 8 stones in my left kidney and 14 stones in my right. I even had lithotripsy on a 7 mm stone on the left. I continue to have the pain on the right. My doctor says that I should not be having this pain because none of the stones are big enough (all 3-5 mm) to block anything. However, still the pain. He has prescribed Vicodin, which helps a little, but I am beginning to feel a little like a druggie.
Avatar f tn Thank you (: kidney stones suck!
18533109 tn?1465640552 OK, first off stones start off in the kidneys, most are formed from oxalate, not from a urinary infection. Now, kidney stones can make you feel like you have in infection, or may indeed cause an infection in the area (ureter) they are, if they are in the ureter, that is one of two tubes that come from the kidneys, one tube for each kidney about 6m or so in diameter, in females they are about 50-70mm long each one empties urine in the bladder and then pass through the larger diameter urethra.

Avatar n tn Other possibilities are irritable bowel syndrome, hepatitis(inflammation of the liver), kidney stones, pneumonia, musculoskeletal pain, lower rib fracture and malignancy. In females, ovarian pathology can cause such symptoms. You should get an ultrasound right upper abdominal area done to confirm the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I guess I passed it because it settled off and the pain went away. Then when my baby was about 6 months old, I had one move in my other kidney. It was miserable again. After much running, walking, bouncing, and flooding my system with water, I finally passed it right before the urologist got his chance to fish it out! I was sooo relieved!
Avatar n tn Urinary tract infections can cause hematuria (blood in the urine). Other causes of blood in the urine are urolithiasis (bladder stones), kidney stones, bladder cancer, or kidney disease, bleeding disorders and others. It is best to take her the vet first thing tomorrow for a urinalysis, X-Ray of the abdomen, and complete blood work. If she has bladder stones thay would have to be surgically removed.
Avatar f tn The common causes for painless bleeding in the urine are infections of the kidney/bladder, disorders of the kidney/bladder, certain blood disorders, strenuous exercise and certain medications. The commonest causes are urinary tract infection or kidney stones. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. He may do tests like urine analysis, blood tests, X rays, ultrasonography, CT scan and sometimes cystoscopy to detect the cause for painless hematuria.
Avatar f tn Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, constipation, ovary involvement in women, ectopic pregnancy in women (ruled out due to long history) , and mesentry (a thin tissue that carries the blood, nerves and lymphatics for the intestine) involvement.
Avatar m tn If your doctor wants to reevaluate position of kidney stones and/or exclude other potential causes of hematuria, consider CT urogram.

Avatar f tn It took a while but the pain I was having was finally diagnosed as a kidney stone and I have another symptomatic one in the other kidney. But I wonder if kidney stones cause anemia because I suddenly became anemic just over a year ago and we have not been able to find a cause. Although I had occult blood in my urine due to the stone, it was not a lot. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this too or if anyone might know if stones can cause anemia?
