kidney-stones

Avatar n tn Hi, Hematuria or blood in the urine may be a symptom of recurrent kidney stones. Are there other signs or symptoms present? There is an increased chance of stone recurrence with patients with history of stone formation. A urinalysis and ultrasound of the KUB may be able to help with the diagnosis. It would be best to see your doctor for furtehr evaluation and management. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn If with symptom, a person feels a sharp, cramping pain in the back and side in the area of the kidney or in the lower abdomen. If the stone is too large to pass easily, pain as well as blood may appear in the urine. Your symptoms highly suggest kidney stones but I recommend that you have this evaluated further by your doctor. Diagnosis is through an x ray or ultrasound. The results of these tests help determine the proper treatment. Furthermore, the chance of recurring stones is high.
Avatar m tn As per ultrasound report there is a minor hydronophrosis in the right kidney. Are there any more stones left in the kidney but not seen in the ultrasound? or there is any other reason of this pressure and dull pain?

Avatar n tn Causes for the formation of renal colic can be inadequate hydration, diet comprising of animal fats and too much calcium, infections, errors in metabolism which lead to accumulation of some salts preparing a ground for the formation of stones in the kidney, malfunctioning of the kidney etc. It is advised to get a ultrasound of abdomen done along with DMSA scan of both kidneys which would reveal the functioning capacity of the kidneys.
Avatar f tn s good you had an ultrasound and can keep watch on it. Where is it located in your kidney? What pole? Good Luck.
Avatar f tn I have a long history with kidney stones and four years ago had my right kidney removed due to a stag horn kidney. In a recent ultrasound a 1cm stone non obstructive was found in the right kidney. Subsequent tests have shown blood in the urine. I do not see the urologist for a couple of weeks. I have had flank pain for some months but am told a non obstructive stone cannot cause pain.
Avatar n tn same thing with the blood in urine, no symptoms -no uti, no bacteria in urinalysis, etc...no stones on ultrasound or xray....then I had a CT urogram - which finally showed a 4mm stone stuck in the ureter and hydronephrosis. I was so relieved it was not cancer!! (both two dr.'s seemed to thinking w/o symptoms, it couldn't be a stone) I am now taking Rapaflo to try to help pass the stone and I am scheduled for surgery on Thurs.
500419 tn?1220124743 I would have an ultrasound done at the very least and since you are pregnant I would also have a urine test done in case there is an infection.
Avatar f tn UTI can also be due to the polycystic kidney disease as well. Kidney stones and kidney failure are late-stage symptoms of the disease. I suggest you an immediate urologist’s evaluation. If the size of the stone is small, it’s usually treated with ESWL in which shock waves are given from outside and stone breaks into small pieces. On the other hand, if the stone is quite big, then the surgical removal of the stone is a better option. Also her renal functions need to be studied.
Avatar n tn you should get a ct scan of the area and see if anything comes up. do not let your dr send you for an ultrasound, as its not common for kidney stones to show up on one. many drs think they will, and occasionally they will, but it doesnt happen often. my family has a history of stones and theyve never showed up on an ultrasound, so get a ct scan to check.
5650943 tn?1374112808 Then you either have a bladder infection or kidney stones or kidney infection..didn't you post earlier that you thought you had one of those?
Avatar m tn is now in the ureter, it’s better to just let it pass on its own - just a guess. Maybe kidney damage is not a concern, since it’s now in the ureter, unless there are add’l stones lodged in the kidney. Back to ultrasonic therapy - I’m still thinking that could break the stone into smaller pieces to help it pass thru a little easier.
Avatar f tn In February I underwent two surgeries to get rid of 10 stones. Stones sitting in your kidney can cause kidney infections. Your best bet is to see the urologist and take care of those stones. Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn Microscopic hematuria can be due to urinary tract (bladder) infection, swelling in the filtering system of the kidneys ,stone in bladder or in a kidney, blood disease, like sickle cell anemia, certain medicines and tumors in the urinary tract. You have already undergone cystoscopy which has ruled out most of the cases. I suggest you to get done an ultrasound abdomen to look for any kidney stone and blood tests for sickle cell anemia. I hope it helps.
Avatar f tn Most often it is related to urinary tract problems like kidney stones, inflammation of urinary tract, renal vein thrombosis, certain kidney tumors and polycystic kidney disease, blood coagulation disorders and anticoagulants. Diagnostic tests that may be performed include Urinalysis, Urine culture, X-rays of the kidneys, Cystoscopy, IVP, Abdominal ultrasound and CT scan of the abdomen. The treatment will depend on the cause of the blood in the urine.
Avatar n tn Other causes of blood in the urine are urolithiasis (bladder stones), kidney stones, bladder cancer, or kidney disease, bleeding disorders and others. It is best to take her the vet first thing tomorrow for a urinalysis, X-Ray of the abdomen, and complete blood work. If she has bladder stones thay would have to be surgically removed. Bladder cancer is sometimes visible on abdominal X-Ray, or ultrasound, and is of course serious.
11610581 tn?1419814808 I just recently was diagnosed with an 8mm stone in my ureter, half way between my kidney and bladder determained by an ultrasound despite clear urine (no infection or blood)
Avatar n tn Also it could be due to referred pain of kidney stones. An ultrasound of the lower abdomen will be able to rule out kidney stones. It could be due to cancer of testis. It could be due to varicocele or spermatocele. An ultrasound of the testicles will diagnose cancer, varicocele and spermatocele. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. You should see an urologist regarding this. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar m tn I have two kidney stones one in each kidney, 2.3mm and 2.8 mm diagnosed by Ultrasound. The doctor advised me to take plenty of water. 3-4 liters a day.
Avatar f tn Anyone else have kidney stones..? If so what do you do about it. It is SO painful..
Avatar f tn s a coincident urinary tract infection along with kidney stones, which may be seen in struvite kidney stones. Ultrasound is the safest investigation to figure this out, as there's no radiation involved. If your pain still hasn't gotten any better even after a few weeks I would see your doctor to make the ultrasound urgent, as symptomatic kidney stones left too long can cause problems for your kidneys.
Avatar n tn 4 years ago I had one and they found polyps in my gallbladder. In this ultrasound, they were still there. However, he also ordered an abdominal x-ray and found calcifications. Unfortunately, when I heard calcifications, I was shocked and missed parts of what were said next. I heard "kidney or other causes" and "you need a CT scan". What is likely to be found? If it's kidney stones do I just tough it out until they pass? Is it still likely to be my gallbladder?
Avatar n tn It uses shock waves to break the stones into tiny pieces that are then passed in your urine. In some cases, you may be partially submerged in a tub of water during the procedure. In others, you may lie on a soft cushion. You'll generally require sedation or light anesthesia due to moderate pain caused by the shock waves. Percutaneous nephrolithotomy.
Avatar f tn I am a 40 year old female with a history of kidney stones. Latest ultrasound (1 year ago) noted stones bilaterally. I have had previous symptoms of UTI only to have tests come back negative for infection but positive for blood. The last 4 urine samples have all tested positive for microscopic blood ( all tests done in the past 5 months). I just had my anual physical 1 month ago and urine test noted traces of blood with no infection. My worry is that this could be a sign of bladder cancer.
Avatar f tn What are the causes of puss in kidney? and what are the best treatment of it?
