Avatar n tn I had a friend tell me of a drug she used on herself for stones and how it worked so I started hunting it up online in relation to cats and I found a pharmicudical company in Virgin that made it for cats and sent it to me and yes it worked. The drug is called Chaca Piedrea. Look it up online there is lots written about it, make sure you are reading the articles pertaining to cats/dogs/animals - I hope you find the same success we did.
Avatar m tn I have had blood in my urine that was wine in color. Lasted for hrs & then went away & would come back again a mth later. No pain was associated w/ it. I went to my urologist & he had me go in for a CT w/ ivp scan. we found kidney stones. I have a long history of stones, yet have never had blood in my urine especially as much as I was passing. The kidney stones eventually did pass (w/in 6mths) w/out any surgery. So I was grateful This could be the same for you.
Avatar f tn My cat Mini is a 6-year old male cat and has recently diagnosed CRF. Also kidney stones are found in the L kidney and one in the L ureter. The vet in Hong Kong said there's nothing we can do to get rid of the stone in the ureter, only surgery of removing the L kidney, but since his R kidney is not healthy as well (calcium deposits found in the R kidney), complication rate is very high, death rate is like 60%.
591069 tn?1219287990 All right, I'm a little stumped on this one. My first thought is your cat has a kidney issue (which is my way of saying, it's the kidney, but I don't know what exactly is causing it). It could be genetic or environmental toxicity. Usually with kidney issues infection tends to come up. Now, it is possible that the infection is so minor that it isn't picked up by the test...did they do a urine check for infection only or blood as well?
Avatar f tn I can't imagine my vet just sending my cat home when they could barely urinate. My vet wouldn't release mine until they were urinating well without a catheter....Royal Canin Urinary S/O...I swear by it.....available from vets or petsmart with a prescription...works for cats with ureteritis as well as stones...sometimes it is hard to detect what the blockage is....whether it is stones or just irritation...
Avatar m tn I have had rounded grains of reddish-orange sand in my urine for over a year. It's painless and they are there in ones and threes, or dozens, hundreds at a time, about once every sixth or eighth time I urinate. The Urologist tells me they are not kidney stones, but at bladder stones, and common, but I can't find a single word about them on the internet (regarding humans). They seem to be mentioned in cats and perhaps goats, and remedied by changes in diet.
Avatar f tn Upon getting cats can it was revealed that my rt kidney was extremely enlarged and full of fluid with calculus stag horn stones measuring over 2inches. At first the plan was to drain the kidney and break up the huge stones. After having a kidney function test, well it was discovered that my rt kidney had no function at all and needed to be removed. It was described as a huge beachball about to explode. I had kidney removed along with gall bladder.

6042653 tn?1378605512 I have passed my 9th kidney stone in 25 years. Most of the stones I have passed were years apart but this one was only 2 months after I passed a 3.5mm on the same side. I had not had one for 5 years before that. I used pain meds to get through these last two but after passed the last one I developed a large bulge just under the lower rib on my right side. The bulge looked as if a softball was in my abdomen and protruding out about an inch.
Avatar m tn Is it normal for stones stuck in the kidney to cause so much pain?? Could the fact that I have pkd be making the pain from these stones worse...I guess I'll be headed back to er if pain doesn't let up before I run out of the few pills I have until I see my urologist. Any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn t have Leukemia...... he had a severe kidney infection due to kidney stones (btw...he was a pet of another person who lived in the building). Point is....pets are not a cheap entertainment. We have to take care of them just as we would any other member of our family. When they need medical help we are OBLIGATED to get them the care we need. If this was a child of yours would you be asking such a question?
Avatar f tn I have a male friend who's been dealin w/ kidney stones for about a year quite now. He's on medi-cal in CA & he's not gettin anywhere w/ doctor's. He's been waitin for 1 mo. now for a referral to see a specialist & in the mean time his symptoms seems to be gettin more serious.
Avatar m tn You were right in suspecting appendicitis and kidney stones. Kidney stones can persist for years and cause symptoms only when they start moving. They can move, cause pain and again remain in a position for long periods of time. Similarly chronic appendicitis too can behave this way with bouts of pain, localization of infection and inflammation and a symptom free period.
Avatar n tn Having worked in a busy ER clinic for many years, I can tell you that male cats with urinary problems can quickly become a big deal if not handled promptly. Please follow Dr. Coyner's advice and get your little guy to the ER as soon as you can. As young as he is, I would sure hate to see something happen to him. You guys should have 18-20 more years together! When you go to the ER, be upfront about your financial concerns...
Avatar m tn Hello all: Here's what's going in with me. I'm a 49-year-old male, relatively healthy (though on lisinopril for high blood pressure and statins to control cholesterol for over two years) male. Several weeks ago, I began feeling a nagging pain in my right flank -- nothing unbearable, more irritating than anything. At times, like today, the discomfort moved to my upper right quadrant, below my ribcage, where it can feel like a burning sensation.
Avatar f tn Male, 43, history of kidney stones for 20 years. Last Lithotripsy was performed 3 years ago. Urologist was seen in October 2009 w/xray performed. He was advised he has an 11 mm stone in his left kidney and a smaller one on the right. They had not increased in size since xray October 2008. He had decided to not do another Lithotripsy at this time. He started using an Inversion table mid January for stretching out his back. Since he started using the table he has passed over 40 stones.

Avatar m tn In cases of hernia, a prominent bulge along with testicular pain is there and in cases of kidney or ureteric stones, pain during micturition may also be there. Lab investigations like complete blood examination, urine examination, ultrasound lower abdomen and sometimes a urethral swab will help in diagnosis. Treatment will be started thereafter. My advise would be to consult a urologist. I hope it helps.Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn by eating a dry food diet and lack of moisture crystals soon form leading to a condition called FLUTD. MALE CATS ARE ESPECIALLY PRONE TO THIS....these crystals are sharp and scrape the urethra as they pass thru. this conditon is very painful and it can also be fatal by a build up and a blockage occurring. I would strong suggested you trying very hard to get this kitty to a Vet for a urinalysis. this is the only way to know.....
1696489 tn?1370821974 I have two cats, Lacy and BooBoo, I call them twins but they are very different. BooBoo has to be on different food than his sister. He also has to eat different portions b/c he has all sorts of issues. He was blocked once and now they are saying he may have trouble with kidney stones. I've had to switch him to wet food to be scheduled so he won't overeat! It's a real pain because of work. Boy do I get the money thing.
Avatar f tn Magnesium is probably the mineral of the most concern in cat nutrition for owners, and especially to owners of male cats because of its role in the formation of struvite uroliths (magnesium ammonium phosphate). However, magnesium is not a "bad guy". Magnesium is a macromineral, its amount in the body is much lower than that of calcium and phosphorus. Approximately 60% to 70% of the magnesium found in the body exists in the form of phosphates and carbonates in bone.
