I have had recurrent kidney stones since 2000 in 2001 I finally was told that I have Medullary Sponge Kidneys the problem is that in the last 2 months I have passed at least one stone a week and I am sick of being in continuous pain. The ER won't do anything but give me pain medicine and sometimes treats me as if I am just a seeker of drugs.
Blood in urine is a sign of a really bad bladder infection or kidney stones..I had kidney stones with my first and never peed blood..got kidney stones again this pregnancy was peeing blood they said bladder infection but I ended up in hospital 3 days later with kidney stone attack so I either had both or was trying to pass stones..I would call my doctor so they can get a urine sample while you are peeing the blood out..
m not going to be 100% positive on it, but if your son drank cranberry juice (lots of it) check into the effects of the oxalates(in cranberries) and the calcium(in your urine) building up to possibly form kidney stones, the last question on the linked page will be helpful if that's the case.

Hematuria or blood in the urine may be a symptom of recurrent kidney stones. Are there other signs or symptoms present? There is an increased chance of stone recurrence with patients with history of stone formation. A urinalysis and ultrasound of the KUB may be able to help with the diagnosis. It would be best to see your doctor for furtehr evaluation and management.

So four days later i went back again. Well this hospital preforms a ct scan looking for kidney stones. They found the kidney stones they were looking for. However they left me with this overwhelming fear after telling me that they seen a shadow on my lower left lung. I had 3 pictures taken so for the radiologist to say he didnt like what he seen, does that mean it was on all 3 pictures and does that mean there is something there. I'm a 25 year old mother of 2.

Is it normal for stones stuck in the kidney to cause so much pain?? Could the fact that I have pkd be making the pain from these stones worse...I guess I'll be headed back to er if pain doesn't let up before I run out of the few pills I have until I see my urologist. I presented to ER with severe back pain on right side wrapping around to front. I had a catscan to check for stones. No stones. However I had White blood cells in my urine. Urine culture came back negative. Had a U/S for gall bladder. No stones. Dr. went ahead and treated me for kidney infection. now they say no kidney infection because culture was neg. Antibiotics caused yeast infection. They treated me for yeast infection.
We have an MSK support site here that might have info that can help you too since the biggest issues for us are stone, infection and chronic kidney pain even when there are no stones in the ureter or an infection showing on standard test. Does your pain always show stones on test or you catch them when they pass?
