Avatar f tn With the low complement, is it safe to assume this is NOT stones? How could it be stones if her urine is only showing pre-cursor to stones? We don't go back for several weeks, as he is buying us time to decide on the biopsy while we wait for the immune tests as well. Also, can she be vaccinated with low complement? Are there any risks to her taking probiotics? Thanks!
Avatar n tn There are several things that could be responsible for your pain. The obvious given what you stated .... moving Kidney Stones! However if it is Kidney Stones be prepared for that pain to become extreme and possible send you to seek immediate medical attention. It's been several days since you posted how are you doing today? Again if it a kidney stone the pain can wax and wain as the stone moves and then can stop. If it's a very tiny stone, gravel..
Avatar f tn Hi Tee, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am very sorry to hear about your untreated pain. If you have kidney stones and they are not moving you should not have significant pain. However if you do not have kidney stones that are moving or partially blocking the passage of urine you need to have your pain diagnosed. I have a long history of stones and know how very extreme the pain can be. My heart goes out to you and anyone who passes kidney stones.
Avatar f tn Because I have not long ago written about kidney stones in reply to another question in this forum, I am pasting what I wrote below so that you will know what to look out for. The kidney stone will cause you problems with urinary infections as it moves, or travels down. This is because it scratches as it moves and then when bacteria enters the wounds, infection sets in.
Avatar f tn Hyperparathyroidism is the number one cause of kidney stones. Every person with a kidney stone should be tested for a problem with their parathyroid glands. Nearly half of all people with kidney stones have a parathyroid tumor in their neck that must be removed or the kidney stones will return.
Avatar n tn But the thing thats holding me back is that i have kidney stones and ill have them for the rest of my life. would it be a bad idea to get pregnant?
Avatar n tn Microscopic hematuria will persist as long as there are stones in the urinary system. Please go through this link for some valuable information on kidney stones: http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/Kudiseases/pubs/stones_ez/ Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn I honestly have no idea and I have never heard of using aloe vera for anything to do with kidney stones, certainly not anything to do with reducing the size of a kidney stone. If I may ask, how/where did you hear of this and how is aloe vera supposed to reduce the size of a kidney stone?
757137 tn?1347196453 Magnesium will get rid of kidney stones, and cranberry juice will prevent them.
Avatar n tn I have had a few kidney stones over the last few years and have been placed on a low oxalate diet. There's a lot of foods to try to remember to avoid and I wondered if people had some good tricks.
Avatar n tn A subsequent CT scan revealed I had 2 additionall ( 2mm non-obstructing) stones in my right kidney and a cluster of at least (four 2-3 mm stones in my left kidney). They were also non-obstructive. I've been told by a couple of doctors and urologists that they cannot be the cause of my pain, even though the pain feels just like when I had obsturctive ones. I can also feel the damn things moving around and it causes me to have kidney spasms.
Avatar f tn i am used to the pain and can deal with it, what scares me is the kidney pain. normally i dont get kidney pain with the stones. i had to have only one stone removed surgically, it was stuck in the lining of my urethra, total pain on that episode before and after! Does anyone have any knowledge on preventing calcium oxalate stones that i havent tried already? i cant take diuretics because of a sulfa allergy, the potassium citrate does nothing, and i have slowed down on tea and cheese.
Avatar f tn Has she had a CT Scan w/o contrast in regard to the stones? What has it shown? I have an uncommon kidney condition called MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) along with having had out 1/2 my thryoid bcz of nodules that were atpical but my parathyroids were fine and all tests were A-OK that both my Uro and Endo have run inc. a 24hr urine test. Has your daughter had a 24hr urine test? That is important too.
Avatar f tn Hi Kinda sounds like kidney stones you get better care from your regular doctor than an emergency room I would see your regular doctor and discuss your problems. Also you could try the kidney stone community they should know more than us http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn Hi, my name is Dylan, over the past 3 years I have been dealing with kidney stones periodically. In October of 2010 I had lithotripsy to break apart a kidney stone about the size of my pinky nail. After the procedure I was sent home and told to collect my stones for analysis. When the results came back I was told I had calcium/oxalate kidney stones. I was prescribed Potassium Citrate and Hydrochlorothyazide to help knock back the amount of stones I was having.
Avatar n tn If it feels even similar to kidney stones, you need to get checked for that since you have a history of it. If the pain is not in your low back, then its not std related. Your kidneys are up higher.
Avatar m tn After reading your post I can only assume that because your stone is just 2mm in size, with no apparent growth, that your Urologist thinks it should be able to pass on its own. Usually, from my personal experience, a stone of that size will pass on its own, but can still cause you quite a bit of pain while passing through your kidney. The amount of pain however can differ between stones and between sizes of stones before they do pass.
Avatar f tn Hi brooklyn, I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are glad that you have found this Forum! I need to let you know that there are NO Doctors on this Forum ONLY CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that share there expertise and experience with the OTHER people on here. I'm so sorry that he is having this much discomfort form his Post-op Kidney Stones. I've never had Kidney Stones.
Avatar m tn Recurrent kidney infection can be due to diabetes, some anomaly or defect in the kidney or due to the organisms developing antibiotic resistance. Recurrent kidney stones are found renal tubular acidosis, medullary sponge kidney, Dent's disease (genetic disease of the kidney), hyperparathyroidism, primary hyperoxaluria and Crohn's disease. Since the pain comes before periods too, it can also be due to endometriosis.
Avatar n tn Dr. Lupo, Thank you for taking the time to answer this question. I have had a few high serum calcium tests (not crazy high, but above normal for six months) and my PTH is in the low 40s. I have passed a few kidney stones. My ionized calcium was normal. I don't know if that means high normal or just normal -- if it is in the normal range, my doc considers it normal. If ionized calcium is related to PTH level, is hyperparathyroidism possible with normal ionized calcium?
Avatar n tn I am 31 year old female and diagnosed with Hypothyroid when i was 20 and Hashimotos about 5 years ago. This past April I began to suffer from kidney stones and had surgery for removal. Just six months later I am experiencing some pain in my kidneys again. I have been doing reserach on the Parathyroid and have read that there may be a correlation with kindey stones and thyroid issues. Any feedback or websites would be very helpful!
231903 tn?1281482584 the ovarian cyst was removed back in december, and it was on the right side, so i dont think that would have anything to do with it. But i was told that kidney stones dont cause nagging pain?? with my other stones i have always had sharp severe pain. As of february my dr had told me that i did not have any stones in the left kidney anymore, just in the right. could one maybe be forming? maybe if its moving around in the kidney it could be causeing the nagging pain?
