Kidney stones causes vomiting

Common Questions and Answers about Kidney stones causes vomiting

kidney-stones

Avatar f tn ve heard they are. I get kidney-stones chronically, and from time to time, a get one that causes intermittent (colicky) pain that's quite bearable. And another thing, not all kidney-stones cause hematuria (blood in the urine). If your doctor thinks that all stones cause blood in the urine, then I'd say that you need to get yourself another doctor that know what the hell their talking about, because she obviously doesn't.
Avatar f tn I have 2 pains in the front directly under my rib cage about 2-3 inches down from my sternum. CT scan revealed 9 kidney stones all. 7 are 2mm and 2 are 1mm. I'm 5. Ft tall 109 lbs. the only experience I ever had with kidney stones was when I was pregnant. Passed a lot of blood then nothing, little cramping in low back and it was over. This pain has sent me to the ER twice. I was vomiting a lot back in June and lost 16 lbs so they took my gall bladder out.
Avatar f tn s only considered pre-existing if you have been treated for an ongoing problem with your kidney. Individual kidney stones cannot be considered pre-existing. Get a ct scan from a doctor then talk to a urologist if it is a kidney stone. I was born with a condition that causes my body to create kidney stones. I have been to the emergency room 4 or 5 times in the past 18 years for the large stones, small ones pass ok.
Avatar f tn Regarding your chest pain, causes maybe cardiac in origin or not, but not from kidney stones. But if you experience this, it is important that you seek medical help for proper evaluation. Avatar n tn Causes for the formation of renal colic can be inadequate hydration, diet comprising of animal fats and too much calcium, infections, errors in metabolism which lead to accumulation of some salts preparing a ground for the formation of stones in the kidney, malfunctioning of the kidney etc. It is advised to get a ultrasound of abdomen done along with DMSA scan of both kidneys which would reveal the functioning capacity of the kidneys.
Avatar m tn Hi there. Most kidney stones less than 6mm in size can be treated conservatively. If pain, nausea and vomiting can be controlled, most of these stones will pass spontaneously. one must be well hydrated while trying to pass stone. Pain can be controlled with NSAIDs and narcotics on prescription if the pain is very distressing. the stone can be kept track of for weeks to months if there is no significant obstruction and if nausea and vomiting are tolerable and there is no active infection.
Avatar f tn So each time the urine tries to pass through the obstruction it causes severe pain. It can be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, sweating and sometimes blood in the urine. Vomiting does not indicate that the stone is passing through, usually there is some bleeding when the stone comes out and you can visualize the stone. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I've had bad re-occuring pains in my left side. I had an ultrasound, catscan and x-ray done. Also blood test and urine tests. The doctors say it may be kidney stones that they can't see, or it may be a stone that passed which caused swelling of the kidney and the ureter. Someone told me that the swelling may be caused by "parasites" ... Is this true? Please help.
Avatar f tn The pain could be new stones or due to stones passed down from the kidney. If they are radio opaque they can be picked up by X rays. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I was born with a condition that causes my body to create kidney stones. I have been to the emergency room 4 or 5 times in the past 18 years for the large stones, small ones pass ok. My first stone caused bleeding and severe back pain also with pain in the lower abdomen area along with hot/cold flashes and vomiting. It may feel like someone is squeezing your kidney while at the same time stabbing it with an ice pick. I first though it was my appendix. I was wrong.
Avatar f tn How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger? Are these stones causing damage to my kidneys? They don’t seem to be causing any blockages based on the ultrasounds that have been done, but I still have had frequent flank pain and blood visible in my urine prior to the surgery. Is there any hope that I will be able to be stone free and prevent more stones?
Avatar n tn Hi, Renal calculi can vary in size from as small as grains of sand to as large as a golf ball. Kidney stones typically leave the body by passage in the urine stream, and many stones are formed and passed without causing symptoms. If stones grow to sufficient size before passage—on the order of at least 2-3 millimeters—they can cause obstruction of the ureter.

Avatar n tn E with severe pain in my back right hand side just underneath my ribs. After many scans, tests and ultrasounds I was told I had kidney stones. After months more of scans and wasted time I saw a kidney stone specialist who has said the stones are still in my kidney and that the pain I am still experiencing is not caused by them. I'm now at a loss as to what it can be as I was sure the two were related, especially with so many people confirming kidney stones do cause a lot of pain.
1528126 tn?1291768301 •burning or painful urination •pain in the back, lower abdomen, or groin •cloudy, dark, or bloody urine •foul-smelling urine •fever and chills •vomiting To confirm the diagnosis, the doctor may order an x ray called an intravenous pyelogram (IVP). In an IVP, dye is injected into a vein. The dye travels through the blood to the kidneys. As the dye is filtered into the urinary tract, it makes urine visible on the x ray and shows any blockage in the urinary tract.
Avatar m tn kidney, passed some fragmented particles but there are still stones in both kidneys. Apparently, stones in Lt. kidney can cause nausea and vomiting and pain can make one nauseous. I drink water to the point I am going to explode but still no stones pass. One physician mentioned that the stones can irritate the kidneys causing hematuria and increased incidence of UTIs. It is very difficult working and functioning to full capacity when you get those sharp pains, burning etc.
Avatar f tn I went to the er the first time and they gave me stuff to stop the vomiting and something for pain and they said I might have kidney stones but never found anything. The next times I just suffered through the pain which usually last about 6 to 7 hours and it is unbearable, like being in labor. I will be fine for a few months and then it will happen again. Please help.
362203 tn?1248810310 t come down and severe vomiting and abdominal pain and they discovered her kidneys are just loaded with kidney stones and she has a large one blocking her urinary tract. They did surgery to put in stint's to drain off the infection and they will wait about 2 weeks to remove the stones. The doctor said her body is just producing A LOT of stones and she'll have to change her diet and take medication to help stop it. Thank God they figured it out.
Avatar m tn m figuring that kidney stones take a while to form and that, if I have kidney stones and possibly an infection, it's likely that I had the kidney stones first and they contributed to the infection, rather that having an infection first that contributed to the kidney stones (sorry if this sounds confusing).
Avatar n tn It sounds like you have a right sided abdominal pain due to kidney stones! Do not panic. You will be alright. Kidney stone pain causes such a tremendous pain but will not cause immediate fatality. This often presents as sudden onset right loin or side pain, very severe in intensity (many describes this as the most severe pain they have ever felt), it spreads down the side to the lower right abdomen and groin, cramp like, with associated nausea and vomiting.
Avatar m tn After 5 days of bed rest and pain medication, much to my surprise, I passed a 4mm stone. Is it common for a patient to have back spasms when they have a kidney stone? The doctor said he felt and saw the back spasms. Could it have been kidney spasms if there is such a thing?
18533109 tn?1465640552 t say that urine infection can be cause of kidney stone however it may be possible that urine can be causes of kidney disease bt not kidney stones
Avatar m tn 0, otherwise is easy to produce stones. Well having only one kidney left I am worried about the ph being too acidic and losing my only kidney! How can I reduce it? I live in Honduras, Central America, I don´t have the resources to travel to the US, see a Doctor and buy prescription Urocit-K which I was prescribes back in 2008. I would like alternatives, natural or chemical since I am extremely worried!
