Avatar f tn He has theorized that I’m making stones because of infection in the kidney (I have a history of chronic UTI’s, but all of my cultures in the last year have come back negative), a condition like RTA, or my kidneys began hyperfiltrating due to pregnancy. Do these causes sound reasonable? What other tests should I be asking for? How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger?

4159057 tn?1350422784 It is a disease involving the defective transepithelial transport of cystine and dibasic amino acids in the kidney and intestine, and is one of many causes of kidney stones. If not treated properly, the disease could cause serious damage to the kidneys and surrounding organs, and in some rare cases death. The stones may be identified by a positive nitroprusside cyanide test. The crystals are usually hexagonal, translucent, white.
Avatar n tn I am having very frequent urinations with pelvic pain, bloating and traces of blood in my urine. Culture and Urinary tests were negative for bacteria and xray show no sign of kidney stones. What could be wrong?
Avatar m tn Can you tell me more about the back pain? Were you checked for kidney stones? Testicular pain, or any pain in one or both sides of the scrotum should be taken seriously. The main causes for testicular or scrotal pain include the following: infection or inflammation such as epididymitis (inflammation of one or both epididymes), trauma or injury or torsion. Other causes to consider are: testicular tumors, hernia, pudendal nerve damage, or kidney stones.
Avatar f tn 1) kidney stones (which is controversial because some of my doctors say that I DO have a kidney stone in my right kidney when other doctors say there is no sign of a kidney stone anywhere). 2) Functional Abdominal Pain (well, I don't understand how it can be this when I CLEARLY feel something when a doctor presses down on the spot...) 3) Irritable Bowel Syndrome (which I'm quite confident that I do not have...
Avatar f tn against the blockade this results in colic, which is severe attacks of pain. The causes for stone formation are urinary tract infections, kidney disorders and metabolic disorders like hyperparathyroidism. In addition to this a person with a strong family history is more likely to develop stones. So, the stone formation causes need to be dealt with to prevent stone formation. In addition the therapy for renal stones depends on the size, the location and the kidney functions.
Avatar f tn I ahve had stones with terrible pain and stones with little or no pain.......that kind of pain was only maneable for me with morphine....so I don't envy you. I was only clearly diagnosed the first time because I pass them at the hospital and they were large enough to see....but I have also had them many times where I must have passed them without even noticing.

1226479 tn?1267205690 and of course they diagnosed me with kidney stones(one) and ordered me to see a urologist in a couple of days. My delemna is that I'm uninsured and I'm wondering, since I've had no pain even during urination and no discoloration, whether I can skip going to the urologist and save the money? Thanks.
Avatar n tn I just went to the ER yesterday with severe right back pain to find a kidney stone at the bottom of my kidney. Apparently the pain was when it moved through my kidney. Now I am suffering with severe vaginal/rectal pain and pressure. It feels like I have a yeast infection and pressure in my rectum that makes me feel like I have to have a bowel movement all the time. All symptoms have occurred in the last few days. I am also at the end of my menstrual cycle. Could all this be related?
Avatar f tn I was born with a condition that causes my body to create kidney stones. I have been to the emergency room 4 or 5 times in the past 18 years for the large stones, small ones pass ok. My first stone caused bleeding and severe back pain also with pain in the lower abdomen area along with hot/cold flashes and vomiting. It may feel like someone is squeezing your kidney while at the same time stabbing it with an ice pick. I first though it was my appendix. I was wrong. Water, water, water.
Avatar f tn Hi, There are a number of possible reasons for blood in the urine .The common causes are infections in the bladder or prostate, inflammations of the kidney, stones in the bladder or elsewhere in the urinary tract and tumours of the urinary tract like warts, benign growths and cancers. For kidney pain you may take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen .Few doctors also recommend Tamsulosin to speed the passage of stones.
Avatar f tn diagnosis final diagnosis=acute pyelonephritis additional diagnosis=renal colic = pain that comes in waves thrombocytopenia-unspecified I don't know your health history nor am I a doctor but from what you have written it sounds like you had a kidney stone and that caused an infection when the stone was trying to pass. This is a rather common occurrence with kidney stones and has nothing to due with any other health conditions you may have.
Avatar f tn Am waiting for an ultrasound to determine whether I have a kidney stone or fibroidsa(due to occasional spotting after intercourse), however the last couple of days the abdominal pain has worsened and I now have an ammonia-like smell in my urine. Could the original thought of kidney stones be the right one?? I can't see where fibroids would affect the smell of my urine. There is no pain with the urination or discolor to the urine. Still have the back pain as well.
Avatar m tn hey i have a pain on my right side too. but my doc can't find out what it is.
Avatar f tn Anyone suffer from kidney or gull stones in 3rd trimester what did u do to treat how bad was it did u still work?
Avatar n tn I have had soft stool, sometimes watery for about a month now. I am also having pain on my right side. It started under my rib in the front and is now on the actual side and sometimes radiating up the back. My doctor sent me in to have an ultrasound of my abdomen. 4 years ago I had one and they found polyps in my gallbladder. In this ultrasound, they were still there. However, he also ordered an abdominal x-ray and found calcifications.
3163650 tn?1391636550 When I compare the pain of kidney stones with labor, I remember that with labor, I would get a break for a little bit to catch my breath. Kidney stones don't work that way!!! There's no breather. Nothing but pain. You probably don't have the stones that come from dairy. You may have the other. There's a med you can take for it every day that prevents them from occurring. It also treats gout. They put me on it for a while and told me not to drink as many diet cokes.
Avatar n tn Causes for the formation of renal colic can be inadequate hydration, diet comprising of animal fats and too much calcium, infections, errors in metabolism which lead to accumulation of some salts preparing a ground for the formation of stones in the kidney, malfunctioning of the kidney etc. It is advised to get a ultrasound of abdomen done along with DMSA scan of both kidneys which would reveal the functioning capacity of the kidneys.

Avatar n tn s typically attributed to some form of blockage of the common bile duct due to stones. However, in some cases, such as after the gallbladder is removed, enlargement can occur but there is no explanation for why the enlargement is found.
Avatar m tn When this happens, the stones can block the flow of urine out of the kidneys. This causes swelling of the kidney or kidneys, causing pain. The pain is usually severe. Kidney stones are common. A person who has had kidney stones often gets them again in the future. Kidney stones often occur in premature infants. Some types of stones tend to run in families. Certain kinds of stones can occur with bowel disease, ileal bypass for obesity, or renal tubule defects.
Avatar n tn Pain that I am having - it is the same pain that have when I have had infections and when I have stones which is why I went to my reg doctor and they found all of this so how can it not be from the stones even though they are still in the kidney? What causes multiple stones in both kidneys? I did have ionized calcuim and PTH blood work done again - not sure they tested it in the time frame needed but it came back normal.
Avatar m tn In cases of hernia, a prominent bulge along with testicular pain is there and in cases of kidney or ureteric stones, pain during micturition may also be there. In your case, it can be due to excessive bicycle riding or kidney or ureteric stones. Lab investigations like complete blood examination, urine examination, ultrasound lower abdomen and sometimes a urethral swab will help in diagnosis. Treatment will be started thereafter. My advise would be to consult a urologist.
