Avatar f tn He has theorized that I’m making stones because of infection in the kidney (I have a history of chronic UTI’s, but all of my cultures in the last year have come back negative), a condition like RTA, or my kidneys began hyperfiltrating due to pregnancy. Do these causes sound reasonable? What other tests should I be asking for? How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger?

Avatar f tn 2016 when I started experiencing some symptoms like lightheadedness, dizziness, shortness of breath. My BP runs low, usually around 92/64. Then in late October I had a severe UTI with blood in the urine. I attribute this to contamination from frequent rectal bleeding that I thought was from hemorrhoids. I started experiencing back pain in the kidney area, so I went to the ER and they did a CT scan that showed I had diverticulosis but no kidney infection.
Avatar f tn So I went to the ER yesterday for severe pain in my back that wrapped around front.. I was nauseous and couldn't eat. Come to find out I have two kidney stones one that is in the process of passing and one that is still in my kidney.. I am 27 weeks ... Has anybody else had kidney stones during their pregnancy? I'm honestly so miserable and I can't eat and I'm worried about my baby . Any suggestions ?
Avatar f tn In March of 2007 I had surgery to remove a massive amount of stones in my right kidney. I had a stent left in for a week after the surgery. The urologists was surprised to find so many stones because they did not show up on the x-ray or cat scan. There were so many that he ran out of time to get them all. During my follow up with the Urologist he advised me to take caltrate. Caltrate made me feel sick.
Avatar f tn I have a male friend who's been dealin w/ kidney stones for about a year quite now. He's on medi-cal in CA & he's not gettin anywhere w/ doctor's. He's been waitin for 1 mo. now for a referral to see a specialist & in the mean time his symptoms seems to be gettin more serious.
Avatar m tn It is unlikely that you have a kidney cancer, although you are right, without contrast one cannot be 100% sure, but almost always a kidney cancer causes at least some deformity of the kidney that is apparent even on a non-contrast scan. For a kidney cancer to cause a varicocele it would need to be big, and would have been apparent. Pain in the testicle can be "referred" to the flank, just like kidney pain can be referred to the testicle.
4159057 tn?1350422784 It is a disease involving the defective transepithelial transport of cystine and dibasic amino acids in the kidney and intestine, and is one of many causes of kidney stones. If not treated properly, the disease could cause serious damage to the kidneys and surrounding organs, and in some rare cases death. The stones may be identified by a positive nitroprusside cyanide test. The crystals are usually hexagonal, translucent, white.
Avatar f tn Please help me my mom has had mutiplaying kidney stones now for about a year on both sides of her kidneys, which also are causing blockage. She has had a history of kidney stones but not so many at the same time.
Avatar f tn I was born with a condition that causes my body to create kidney stones. I have been to the emergency room 4 or 5 times in the past 18 years for the large stones, small ones pass ok. My first stone caused bleeding and severe back pain also with pain in the lower abdomen area along with hot/cold flashes and vomiting. It may feel like someone is squeezing your kidney while at the same time stabbing it with an ice pick. I first though it was my appendix. I was wrong. Water, water, water.
Avatar f tn I kinda got over it but 2 months later I had kidney attacks and had surgery 2 months ago for kidney stones. I have more surgery for that later this month as well. Within a day or 2 after surgery I got what feels like double ear infections, had headaches and the dizziness came back. Also continued dehydration and eye trouble. My vision seems perfectly clear but I get like an irritation that causes me to instinctively move my eyes up and down and side to side.
Avatar f tn t see any stones but they could have been vry small and in my ureter{not sure of spelling} he also said he saw some diverticulitis in my colon and to make appointment with family doctor. He rleased me with official diagnosis of kidney stones, motrin for pain.My family doctor isn't in for another 6 days,he's away. All week the pain in my abdomen has gotten increasingly worse,it hurts from the top of my ribcage all the way down.
Avatar f tn Since there are several posts on Kidney stones, Id like to share my research results that could possibly afford relief to kidney stone sufferers. I am a recently retired ICU RN and I did not realize until now how important Magnesium is in our lives. Its important to know whats the right kind to take as well. This knowledge could help so many people out there .. if they only knew so I wanted to help spread the word......
Avatar n tn I have had soft stool, sometimes watery for about a month now. I am also having pain on my right side. It started under my rib in the front and is now on the actual side and sometimes radiating up the back. My doctor sent me in to have an ultrasound of my abdomen. 4 years ago I had one and they found polyps in my gallbladder. In this ultrasound, they were still there. However, he also ordered an abdominal x-ray and found calcifications.
Avatar n tn I am having very frequent urinations with pelvic pain, bloating and traces of blood in my urine. Culture and Urinary tests were negative for bacteria and xray show no sign of kidney stones. What could be wrong?
Avatar f tn Before I tx'd, I had to get lithotripsies on both kidneys to get rid of kidney stones. I think the HCV made me more prone to making kidney stones, but my doctor is not so sure. Since finishing tx in early Oct, I passed 2 peppercorn-sized kidney stones on my own. I'd like to think it means the state of my kidneys is getting better...
1226479 tn?1267205690 and of course they diagnosed me with kidney stones(one) and ordered me to see a urologist in a couple of days. My delemna is that I'm uninsured and I'm wondering, since I've had no pain even during urination and no discoloration, whether I can skip going to the urologist and save the money? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hello, Since the kindey stone is 7 mm, so the symptoms seem unrelated to the kidney stones. Since you are having pedal or leg edema, hence your cardiac, liver and kidney functions need to be assessed for which I suggest you to consult a physician immediately. Abdominal causes like irritable bowel syndrome can also cause such symptoms. Common symptoms include abdominal cramping or pain, bloating and gassiness, and altered bowel habits(alternate constipation and loose stools).
Avatar f tn s usually no mistaking the symptoms — kidney stones, especially, can cause excruciating pain. Bladder or kidney stones can also cause both gross and microscopic bleeding. Enlarged prostate. The prostate gland — located just below the bladder and surrounding the top part of the urethra — often begins growing as men approach middle age. When the gland enlarges, it compresses the urethra, partially blocking urine flow.

Avatar f tn Hi, My suggestion is to go the hospital. Kidney stones are not something that is easily managed even on narcotics. The longer you wait the worse it gets. How do you know he has a kidney stone?
Avatar n tn The size, configuration, and location affect the spontaneous passage of these stones. However, these may recur. There are different of types of kidney stones and calcium oxalate is the most common stone that forms. To prevent them from forming regularly, drink plenty of water and have a proper diet. Take care and best regards.
