Avatar n tn I can only tell you what I've been told over the years I've dealt with kidney stones. Drink plenty of water daily and make sure that your urine stays clear in color when you urinate. When you think you're drinking enough water, then drink another 8 oz glass of it. Additionally, recently I've started taking Flomax (generic version) on a daily basis.
Avatar m tn ve got away with it for quite a while now, last night I was woke up with the same pain I had when I had kidney stones, I sat on the toilet and waited for the pain so subside, it seems to have gone again for now, I was just wondering if I'm supposed to avoid eating foods rich in calcium, I'm also lactose intolerant and with all this I'm starting to wonder if I'm going to en up deficient in calcium, thanks for any advice
Avatar f tn How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger? Are these stones causing damage to my kidneys? They don’t seem to be causing any blockages based on the ultrasounds that have been done, but I still have had frequent flank pain and blood visible in my urine prior to the surgery. Is there any hope that I will be able to be stone free and prevent more stones?
82861 tn?1333453911 If there is no infection than your dog has kidney damage or kidney failure, and you will have to treat agressively to save the kidneys by using Sub Q fluid therapy, phosphate binders if the phosphate is also elevated, kidney saving herbs such as Rehmannia 8 and more. Please write back once you have additional test results. Thanks.
Avatar n tn The size, configuration, and location affect the spontaneous passage of these stones. However, these may recur. There are different of types of kidney stones and calcium oxalate is the most common stone that forms. To prevent them from forming regularly, drink plenty of water and have a proper diet. Take care and best regards.
Avatar m tn Prevention strategies for kidney stones include - Increasing your daily fluid intake and taking the recommended daily allowance of calcium. Increase your fluid intake to the point where your urine volume reaches 2.5 litres a day. This may mean drinking up to 3 litres a day, if you live in a hot, dry climate or if you are involved in strenuous physical activity. Increasing urine volume decreases the concentration of minerals in the urine. This makes it less likely that a stone will form.

Avatar m tn My Urologist, my civilian Urologist, that I used a few months ago to remove the 3 stones that were causing me so many problems from March to May of this year is a very "down to earth" kind of guy. He's a straight talker too, which I like very much. When I asked him the question on prevention that you asked me, his answer to me was very honest. He told me that there isn't much you can do to prevent getting kidney stones and if you're prone to getting them, you will.
Avatar n tn I have had kidney stones since 2001. Currently (as of May 1) I have had a 15 mm and a 10 mm (as well as several of their babies) in my kidney. I have been scheduled for a systoscopy but when I went for my pre-op, I had extremely (dangerous) high blood pressure. I have never had this high blood pressure in my life (even when I went to the emergency room for kidney stone attacks).

Avatar f tn Hi- I suffered from kidney stones this past year, had to have lithroscopy for one and have several small ones left in both kidneys. I had my calcium tested over several months, the levels have come back 10, 10.2 and now 10.6. After this last one, I had my PTH level tested and it was 10. I would assume that I have had high calcium for some time and am producing stones (stone analysis indicated calcium stones).
Avatar n tn One study suggested the effervescent alkalising potassium and sodium citrates etc to be taken at night only was 75% effective for prevention. My stones are the usual calcium oxalate type.
18533109 tn?1465640552 OK, first off stones start off in the kidneys, most are formed from oxalate, not from a urinary infection. Now, kidney stones can make you feel like you have in infection, or may indeed cause an infection in the area (ureter) they are, if they are in the ureter, that is one of two tubes that come from the kidneys, one tube for each kidney about 6m or so in diameter, in females they are about 50-70mm long each one empties urine in the bladder and then pass through the larger diameter urethra.

Avatar n tn I had a stone that blocked my kidney and even after blasting would not come out without being scooped out. This was in my left kidney. Kidneys were both checked out thoroughly for damage and other stones - neither of which was found. Questions are...Since it has been two months and I haven't passed any stones are they likely to just stay put? If the larger one gets stuck after I have my surgery will they be able to go in and get it out without cutting me or screwing up the TVT?
Avatar n tn My main concern is that why do I continue to have UTI and kidney stones almost on a montly bases and how do I get rid of that pain? I am puzzled and so are the professional treating my condition. Although, IC is highly suspected, I don't understand why it seems impossible to have the correct dx. No medications helps to treat the prevention of the stones whether they are made of calcium or "infection stones"/struvite?
Avatar f tn Kidney stone pain is often associated with low back pain and abdominal pain. Kidney stones, especially those in the left kidney, can also cause significant amounts of nausea and even vomiting. As the stone moves further down the ureter toward the bladder, the pain often radiates in the groin and genital areas. In men, the pain may radiate to the scrotum. In women, the pain may radiate to the labia or even the vagina.
Avatar n tn Would that present the same symptoms as a kidney stone? I have had confirmed kidney stones in the past and this feels the same. Tomorrow I am supposed to get an x-ray of my spine. Any suggestions?????
Avatar n tn I have had soft stool, sometimes watery for about a month now. I am also having pain on my right side. It started under my rib in the front and is now on the actual side and sometimes radiating up the back. My doctor sent me in to have an ultrasound of my abdomen. 4 years ago I had one and they found polyps in my gallbladder. In this ultrasound, they were still there. However, he also ordered an abdominal x-ray and found calcifications.
231903 tn?1281482584 The pain that you describe in the flank region that also appears in the back and in the front can be due to kidney stones. You also have a past history of these. Hence there is a high chance of these. There could be an accompanying UTI. A kidney abscess too will cause similar symptoms but will present with a higher fever. The other possibility is that the ovarian cyst has got twisted. The third possibility of endometriosis can be considered if you have pain only around your periods.
