Common Questions and Answers about Kidney stones blood spotting

kidney-stones

I had a CT scan in October (which detected kidney stones) I have had two u/s - one in April and one in July to check for stones. (Stones were the only thing seen). I have had two flat panel x-rays (June/July) prior to each lithotripsy to locate stones. (Stones were the only thing seen). All other tests from my physical are normal. I have an appointment with my PCP next week. I am going to mention endometriosis.
Hi there, It needs to be determined if the bleeding is from vagina or urinary tract. If there is blood in the urine the possible causes are urinary tract infection, kidney stones, bladder infection, bladder stones etc.Bleeding from the vagina after sex should be taken seriously.PIDs, STIs,atrophic vaginitis, cervical or endometrial polyps, cervical erosions are few common causes of bleeding after sex.
I was given a urine test, but at that time I didn't pass any blood. I was prescribed Cipro 500mg for 7 days for a UTI/possible kidney infection. I'm now on my 5th day of meds...here's a quick breakdown. First day, minor spotting/minor pain...2nd day- excruciating lower back pains (hurt to sit, lay, stand...just couldn't get comfortable) and heavier spotting, no fever.
It could be any of those 3 things - spotting before your period, a UTI, or a miscarriage. Something else that comes to mind is kidney stones. Are you having any other symptoms? Symptoms of ANYTHING, I mean... body aches, rash, unexplained fatigue, pus, dark urine, etc. etc. It's tough to diagnose without a bit more info. Regardless, I would recommend making an appointment to see your doctor.
They should have done a UA to make sure you don't have a UTI or stones since Kidney issues are very common during pregnancy. It could have also been Placenta previa, which again should have been ruled out, and yes they should have checked your cervix to make sure it wasn't premature dilation or effecement. I would def. think about switching hospitals. Was it the ER you went to? Or your local OB clinic? The dizziness is also common in pregnancy and I know a lot of women here get it.
I found out I have one in July (with my appendicitis), they didn't remove the stones though. Can they cause the spotting? I find it strange that that's what your dr said it was from.

It would hurt for a few seconds wouldn't hurt for about 5-15 or 20 seconds then a fresh wave of pain overcomes my side. should there be any way so i can stop my pain. is it something like kidney stones or a kidney infection or am i too young to get those or i just don't have it. is it something completely different or what. all i would like to do is stop the pain i will take any reasonable answers. thanks!
Gross hematuria (blood in urine) visible to naked eye is also seen in kidney and bladder stones, cancer of kidney, sickle cell anemia, bladder endometriosis, low platelet count, bladder injury and bladder infections. UTI too is a frequent cause but generally causes microscopic hematuria. The other possibility is a cervical polyp bleeding due to exercise and the blood mixing with urine. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do discuss this with your doctor.
Hi! The blood could be coming with urine or from the vagina. If the blood is coming from vagina then this could be due to pregnancy, ovulation bleed or implantation bleed. It all depends on the timing of spotting during your menstrual cycle. If you were expecting your periods then this could be a sign of pregnancy. So take a pregnancy test and see. If you are about two weeks from periods, then this could be ovulation bleed. You need to take a pregnancy test after 14 days to confirm pregnancy.
Hi I'm a female. I've been spotting for 3 days so I decided to put a tampon on. So after that I went to use the restroom and I notice I peeded pink which is weird because I had the tampon on. I took the tampon off and I noticed it had a lil spot of brown. So I stop using the tampons and just use a pad and I noticed my pee was turning back to normal color but tonight when I went to pee it was pink again... I dont know what it could be??
We often have blood coming through the urethra etc. can be from the stones moving around in the kidney or a stones in the ureter. If she is sure it is not coming from the cervix, I would not worry too much,. Could even be a small cyst etc. in the vagina. Do you have any pain? Did it appear after intercourse? Sometimes it is hard to tell where the blood is coming from as a women, but the could do a urine test with a catheterized urine to see if it is urological too.
Blood in the urine is of course possible but is often associated with pain as it is vey irritating as it comes out. The blood may be spotting of menstrual blood, or even from a haemorhoid in the back. It could even be something external such as a skin infection. The best thing would be to go to the doctor, who will ask you to urinate in a small pot, and then test it for blood and other things.
The nurse had to straight cath me because I couldn't give her a urine specimine, turned out my bladder was empty, she then had to give me fluids, and then recath me to get the specimin. They finally gave me Morphine for my pain... did CT to rule out kidney stones... that was clear.. they found Protein, White Blood Cells, Blood, Keytones and something else that I cant remember in my urine... so they sent me home with a script for Bactrim for 5 days, and Vicodin for my pain.
I have to see the urologist either this afternoon or first thing tomorrow...I don't have a lot of pain right now, but they said there were 2 stones in my right kidney and 3 in my left and they'll probably pass pretty soon because they both looked like they were about to get stones entering the ureter...oh well. I was hoping to escape this pregnancy with no stones, but no dice I guess. i'm not really in pain right now but I know it's gonna all go to heck soon, lol.
don't get too upset yet. Kidney stones certainly can do it (that's how I first found out I had kidney stones)...they can cause a good amount of visible blood in the urine at times, even if they haven't yet moved into the ureter. As such you would feel no pain. I believe some infections can cause blood in the urine (do you have a fever?). That having been said, I would certainly get in to see a doctor right away in order to find out what the source is.
I would suggest you go to the Dr. You may have a bladder infection or kidney stones with the buring and blood. This can be extremely painful and need medication.

OR maybe u have kidney stones....IDK????
I was in the hospital on Monday and had surgery for kidney stones. They did a standard urine test and it came up positive for pregnancy. However, the blood test done the same day came back negative. I don't feel pregnant at all, and I wasn't trying to get pregnant. In fact, I've had regular periods the past two months (supposed to start my next period tomorrow or Monday), and I'm on birth control. What do you girls think?
Aside from urinalysis, an ultrasound may be done to check if there are stones present. The spotting may be hematuria or blood in the urine. Other causes such as kidney infections, kidney disease; kidney injury; or inherited disorders such as sickle cell anemia may also need to be ruled out. Home test kits are not advisable at this point. A complete physical as well as pelvic examination may need to be done to reach a diagnosis. Take care and keep us posted.
Just go anyway your insurance will cover anything back to 3 months! So if you go when you get your bill just mail your insurance info to the hospital or take it up there.
What could the dried blood clots mean? Could that be what shows up in my kidney on the CT Scans and not kidney stones? Could the ovarian cysts be more than what my doctor thinks? What could the enlarged lymph nodes mean?
October no period (when pain started) and November was 1 week late but was just spotting for 2 days. After intercourse recently, blood appeared and I had spotting for a few hours after. I have just had a full pelvic and abdominal ultrasound. All organs are fine. Sonographer said he saw a small cyst on my right ovary. He said it is most likely a follicle cyst but it is most likely the cause of my pain. I'm not 100% convinced that all the pain I have had is that small cyst??
Most often it is related to urinary tract problems like kidney stones, inflammation of urinary tract, renal vein thrombosis, certain kidney tumors and polycystic kidney disease, blood coagulation disorders and anticoagulants. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! Blood in urine can be due to either kidney stones or due to UTI. It could also be due to Cancers of urinary system or some drugs too cause blood in urine. Bladder infections and cysts too can cause similar symptoms. Since you are not expecting your period (you had it 2 weeks back), chances of endometriosis are less. Vaginal and cervical infections and cancers along with uterine fibroids could be other possibilities.
This feeling of discomfort and spotting after urination can be due to urinary tract infection, kidney stones or post streptococcal glomerulonephritis. What about your menses? Are your periods due? If you are having missed periods then this spotting can be implantation bleeding an early sign of pregnancy. Drink plenty of water. If the symptoms persist consult a doctor. You will need complete evaluation. Tests like urine analysis, culture may be helpful. Do write to us again. Best Wishes!

pelvic pressure, but nothing that is too pressured... there is light spotting of blood when I pee to... been going on since 2-6-14 at about 3-4pm until now (2-7-14 8pm) I don't know whether to just ignore it and wait it out, or to go to the doc/hospital and figure out what's going on... I haven't been able to get in to see the OBGYN in about a month (due to family emergencies) I really don't know what to do... never experienced this before, scared, worried. Just need some advice/help.
