Avatar f tn If it gets real bad it can completely block off the kidney and make the person septic. Although back pain is common in pregnancy it is normally the entire lower back. Your description of the area sounds like kidney location.

Avatar n tn Hi, It does seem to me like you are having stones in the kidney. The symptom of pain you have described is very typical of it trying to be expelled from the body. Symptoms of kidney stones include colicky pain: "loin to groin". Often described as "the worst pain ever experienced." Other symptoms could be blood in the urine, due to minor damage to inside wall of kidney, ureter and/or urethra. Pyuria: pus in the urine. Dysuria: burning on urination when passing stones.

6042653 tn?1378605512 I rushed to the ER and they performed a CT and said my Ureter was inflamed and the Kidney was ok but had more small stones. They gave me pain killers and anti inflammation drugs. My question is how long should it take the inflammation to go away and am I in any danger of damage to the Kidney or Ureter?
Avatar f tn I have kidney stones and I'm pretty sure I'm not passing one but my right side is in alot of pain. It tends to happen now around my period. Also starting to get sharp pains in side my vagina. No pain when going pee. Does anyone know what could be wrong with me?
7959097 tn?1395762880 I understand you had kidney stones earlier and none caused this pain—but the referral of pain to testis depends on the location of stone. The other possibility is inguinal hernia on that side. Please have a surgeon look into this. Hope this helps. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar m tn Kidney stones less than 5 millimeters in size almost always pass on their own while stones larger than 6 millimeters may not pass on their own. The pain from passing a kidney stone is typically sharp and cramping. It may begin in the back and side where the kidneys are located. As the stone moves down the ureter the location of the pain may sometimes change. It is fairly common for persons to feel pain in the groin and testes. Nausea, vomiting, and sweating chills are also common.
280369 tn?1316702041 I can tell you that kidney pain, like say, kidney stones is so painful that you would be in the emergency room thinking you were in labor. It is pretty bad. I'm not a kidney expert or anything so I don't know what else would cause kidney pain, but I've had kidney stones while pregnant and I was in the hospital having contractions because the pain was so bad. Don't know if that was really helpful information. lol. Hope you feel better soon!!
Avatar f tn A few days ago, I started having a nagging right side pain and by the next day it was so intense I ended up in the ER. They did bloodwork, uralyisis, ultrasound of my gallbladder and ct scan to check for kidney stones. Everything came back normal and now I'm very frustrated. They sent me home with painkillers and told me it could possibly be my gallbladder, to follow up and get a HIDA scan. Now a couple days later, my side doesn't hurt as bad but is sore.
Avatar f tn In addition the therapy for renal stones depends on the size, the location and the kidney functions. Please consult your primary care physician who will do blood tests, x- rays and may ask for an ultrasonogram to find out the cause for stone formation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I've been having quite obvious blood in my urine since the last week of July. I've had all kinds of tests including one that was supposed to show whether there were any cancer cells being shed in the urine. Did she have that done? I've heard most people with kidney stones or kidney problems tend to have pain. For some reason I do not. Guess I'm lucky even though I am piddling rusty sludge.
Avatar n tn and the day after that, i had mild discomfort and pain in my lower back. a nurse has told me that i have kidney stones, but i haven't had xrays or anything. these symptoms in my lower back have lasted for 4 days now. when i wake up in the morning, i don't notice anything at all, but by the end of the day, i'm sore in my lower back especially when seated, it doesn't bother me so much when i'm standing up or laying on my stomach.
Avatar m tn m figuring that kidney stones take a while to form and that, if I have kidney stones and possibly an infection, it's likely that I had the kidney stones first and they contributed to the infection, rather that having an infection first that contributed to the kidney stones (sorry if this sounds confusing).
Avatar f tn There are other types as well ( cystine, struvite , uric) Kidney stones may hold a genetic predisposition. In your case, the presence of kidney formers in the family may explain the onset of kidney stones at an earlier age. It is best to open lines of communication with your physicians. At this point, you may discuss on whether a referral to a pain management specialist may help.Continue following physician's advice regarding diet, fluid intake and exercise.
Avatar n tn As mentioned by Dr Veena, kidney stones may pass out on their own. The size, configuration, and location affect the spontaneous passage of these stones. However, these may recur. There are different of types of kidney stones and calcium oxalate is the most common stone that forms. To prevent them from forming regularly, drink plenty of water and have a proper diet. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn I am 7wks 4days and I am experience this too! I have lower back pain but its in my right side! Mine is caused by my kidney! I am also consider high risk too! With the prenatal vitamins it has flared up my kidney stones! I always get kidney infections when passing stones! I would have it check next time you go to the doctor! I also recommend that you drink lots and lots of water...this will flush the kidneys and may relieve that pain if that is what is causing it foe you!

Avatar f tn he has had previous issues with kidney stones since he was a freshman in highschool. he says this pain is different from the pain he has had experienced from his kidney stones. if you have any ideas as to what this could be i would greatly appreciate it.
Avatar m tn However flank pain can be caused from kidney stones, kidney infections, a kidney abscess or disease, arthritis of the spine, disc problems and as said earlier, muscle spasms. There are also other causes of flank pain...often other conditions can produce referred pain to the flank. Meaning the pain is actually being produced in one location but felt in another. I would return to your PCP and investigate possible kidney issues....
Avatar n tn During the process of passing a kidney stone, I ALWAYS experience a few hours of intense pain. Once the pain goes away it does not occur again and I pass the stone within a week. This time was different. I had that initial few hours of intense pain, but then a day or so later I experienced the pain again. I ended up passing a kidney stone 2 1\2 weeks ago, but I am still experiencing almost constant pressure on my right side with some slight pain.
1732205 tn?1310212506 Hi, How are you? Kidney stones measuring less than 4 to 5 millimeters in size almost always ( around 90 %) pass on their own while stones larger than 6 millimeters can not pass on their own most of the time. The size, configuration, and location affect the spontaneous passage of these stones. You may benefit from drinking plenty of water, proper diet and regular follow-up with your doctor. Take care and best regards.
514293 tn?1281462119 Hi Kidney stones may present with a vague discomfort in the flank but would start presenting with pain once the stone gets dislodged and traverses the ureters. The ureteral spasms (contraction of the ureters ) will induce pain which may need immediate management. For stones less than 4 mm, these may pass spontaneously and may only require supportive therapy such as increase in fluid intake.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering from chronic kidney stones for 19 years, multiple stones, multiple sizes in both kidneys. I hae not been stone free anytime since the first one passed in 1991. I hve had over 200 + stone related surgeries, everyone of them. I made 50 new stones from Nov. to Jan, this year. I am on my 3rd surgery since september now and awaiting another one due to an 8 mm stone.
Avatar f tn When she was finally diagnosed previously, after days of intense pain, the stones were still in the kidney, so her original stones caused pain for her before they ever moved out of the kidney. She has had no other symptoms, and for now she is feeling great. She was a bit discouraged when we left the dr, wondering what in the world could "mimic" the stones, if it wasn't the stones.
