1165078 tn?1338655745 I've been on Keppra for over 3 yrs now, other than gain weight as soon as I was put on the drug, I've had numerous UTI's and kidney infec. as well as Kidney stones, I reduced my dosage by half (1000mg/day down to 500mg/day) over a period of 4 months last yr, still szr free, and blood levels come back with in therapeutic range (something my Neuro can't quite explain yet isn't making me go back up to the 1000mg/day). But I'm having more kidney issues.. am I alone on this?
Avatar f tn How the stones are approached depends on a lot of factors, but may include lithotripsy, which is breaking up the stones using sound waves, ureteroscopy, which is breaking them up under direct vision using a laser, or PCNL, which is looking into the kidney directly through a small incision in the back, and breaking up and removing the stones with an instrument.
Avatar n tn i was diagnosed with kidney stones in November 2016, I had repeated UTI's and antibiotics for 18 months, still waiting to have them removed. I have lost 5kg in weight and have dyspepsia all the time, as i do suffer with Gerd.
643805 tn?1243968843 It depends on the size and composition of the stones, how easy they are to get rid of them, home cures are Lemon and Olive Oil, and drinks loads of mineral water and avoid caffinated drinks.
Avatar f tn s can cause them (which I got tested for and was negative for everything), kidney stones can cause them, drinking alcohol/eating spicy food (I avoided for months and it did me no good)....Help?
Avatar f tn UTI can also be due to the polycystic kidney disease as well. Kidney stones and kidney failure are late-stage symptoms of the disease. I suggest you an immediate urologist’s evaluation. If the size of the stone is small, it’s usually treated with ESWL in which shock waves are given from outside and stone breaks into small pieces. On the other hand, if the stone is quite big, then the surgical removal of the stone is a better option. Also her renal functions need to be studied.
Avatar n tn So you should get a ultrasound, CT scan done and also some urine and blood tests. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
200198 tn?1259887597 yeah sorry I meant to say kidney stones AND uti's are not all that rare for pregnant women (because of the increased blood volume)....LOL...didn't mean to try to emphasize kidney stones. I think my brain went to sleep already because I totally left that part out.
Avatar n tn Hi Gross hematuria or blood in the urine requires further evaluation. This may signify structural anomalies like stones in the urinary tract. Other differentials may include traumatic injury and inflammatory kidney disease ( glomerulonephritis) as well as nephrotic syndromes. In your case, you have mentioned of previous UTI's before. Was a kidney, ureter and bladder scan done to exclude urinary tract stones?
Avatar f tn Hi all, I'm hoping some of you may have some advice or insight for me. Im a 32 yo otherwise healthy woman with a history of kidney stones, kidney infections and uti's. Ive had stones since the age of 18 and up until about 4 years ago i would only get them once or twice a year and they were always small enough to pass. At 28 i had my first stone that needed lithotripsy. Since then they've become much more frequent. This last 10 mos it has been at its absolute worst though.
Avatar f tn I'm so frustrated with this whole pregnancy!!! Don't get me wrong I can't wait to hold, kiss, love and smell on my new princess but this pregnancy has been rough. So for past 5mths I kept being told I had reoccurring UTI's when I've had kidney stones for who knows how long. I took my raspberry tea looking urine in to ER today like "Look something is wrong!" Indeed blood was in my urine just like it was Monday when I went into the ER an they said it wasn't.

Avatar m tn Recurrent urine infections could be due to various reasons. Most common cause is stones in kidney which is blocking urine pathway. Other causes are changing sexual partners frequently, pregnancy, diabetes and of course childhood infections. The urine can also be due to retention of urine anywhere in its flow due t obstruction. The obstruction can be due to abnormality of structures since birth, stones or diseases like tumors. Females are more prone to urine infections.
Avatar f tn They tested me and I still showed infection and a lot of non visible blood - and was again asked if I was menstrating - which I wasn't. My PCP ordered a VIP test which showed nothing and sent me to a urologist. They did a scope of my kidneys, ureters and bladder and found nothing. I am still having pain in my kidney and below my hip on the right hand front. No one seems to know what this is.
Avatar f tn Just got a call saying that my ultrasound is showing a lesion on one of my kidneys. Next up - cat scan. Having done a search here and on google would suggest that kidney problems are/can be a part of having the virus or can be a result of various meds including ifn. I am just trying to find out if anyone else has gotten a kidney lesion and how that played out for them. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I just recently went to the ER for severe pain in my back, stomach, and burning upon urination whenever that was; meaning sometimes I didn't...I'm diabetic but lately I've had 7 uti's just this year alone but this is the first time I've ever been put on Macrobid...usually this drug is given for kidney or bladder infections...
Avatar f tn at first it was just tender and i had blood in my urine and was told it was kidney stones and had a xray but no stones found. full bloods and internal swabs all normal.I had last had an utlra sound of my uterus and kidneys when my youngest was 4months old, that was fine. gradually the pain had progressed to my lower back and right side of my back.. been to my doctors so many times. one doctor said it was my sacroiliac joint. Since then ive had 2 uti's.
Avatar f tn Have the dr check your kidneys. My side hurt too and turned out the uti had turned into a kidney infection and thats why antibiotics didnt work.
1294845 tn?1296514226 So you should get a ultrasound, CT scan done to rule out kidney stones and also some urine and blood tests. I suggest you to consult a urologist. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
168348 tn?1379357075 s from what our Urologists have told us is because of likely biofilm infection deep inside kidney stones which are produced by those who have MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) on an ongoing basis? The stones are a by-product of MSK and are deep within the medullary and take a long time (if ever) to pass out. The antibiotics taken seem to rid the UTI for awhile only for them to come back continuosly.
Avatar f tn I'm only 19 too and I just found out I have medullary sponge kidney. (I don't have UTI's, but it is an effect from MSK) You may want to see a urologist... that's how I found out I had it. The pain sounds similar to mine and anyone who has kidney stones.. have you had a cat scan to see if you have them? I know your pain though..because I feel like that all the time and it's a bummer because this is when we're supposed to be "young and healthy".
Avatar m tn After reading your post I can only assume that because your stone is just 2mm in size, with no apparent growth, that your Urologist thinks it should be able to pass on its own. Usually, from my personal experience, a stone of that size will pass on its own, but can still cause you quite a bit of pain while passing through your kidney. The amount of pain however can differ between stones and between sizes of stones before they do pass.
Avatar n tn Hello, Cloudy urine can be due to diet and certain foods, pus or proteins in urine, bladder infection, cystitis, urinary tract infection, kidney stones,Proteinuria and kidney conditions. I would suggest a urologist’s evaluation and getting a complete examination along with urine and kidney tests to confirm the diagnosis. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.Kind regards.
Avatar n tn I just wandered if anyone has had kidney stones or bladder stones with NO symptoms, and also whether it is commonplace for people to have crystals in urine - does this necessarily mean stones? Should I be worried that this could signal something worse (like cancer), or would the blood work up have hinted at this? I'm erring on whether to wait patiently for an NHS urologist (could take up to 6 weeks), or whether to investigate this privately, which would mean borrowing money.
