kidney-stones

I am so tired of the tummy trouble, that is causing me more discomfort than the actual kidney pain. Can kidney stones cause diarrhea? Even if they are not the most painful stones I've had?
Called an ambulance, said it sounded like kidney stones. Took an ambulance, plane and another ambulance to a hospital in the city-I live in the jungle in Costa Rica. The x-rays and ultrasound show a kidney stone. On the other side it also shows some white spots that may be calcium or other small stones. The doctor said the diarreah was unrelated. I stayed in the hospital overnight-no diarreah. Came home yeaterday and last night severe diarreah all night again.
At his suggestion I am seeing a GI doctor to be evaluated again. Also, it may be important to note my brother was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis twenty years ago-but had surgery and is doing well. Sorry this is so long but I have two questions: 1. Do you think I need to do another work-up again? I am having difficulty with my insurance and they may not cover it so I want to make sure it is necessary. Or does this sound like IBS with migraines. 2.

Since then, the pain has continued and my urologist cannot find any stones in my ureter through x-ray and IVP. He believes that the small stones in my kidney cannot be causing the pain and the stone in my ureter must be gone. He is now telling me to have my ovaries checked. I do not believe for one second that it is anything but a kidney stone. You ALL know the pain. It is the same as it has always been.

several years later I had another colonoscopy/endoscopy and the doctor said I had a slight hiatal hernia and IBS. I have also had several very bad bouts of kidney stones as well as urinary tract infections and yeast infections. In the last year and 1/2 (after my son was born) I had a huge increase in really bad migraines-for a while they were coming every day-now they are about twice a week.
Gross hematuria (blood in urine) visible to naked eye is also seen in kidney and bladder stones, cancer of kidney, sickle cell anemia, bladder endometriosis, low platelet count, bladder injury and bladder infections. Hence though kidney and bladder stones have been ruled out other causes should be looked into. The other possibility is that you also have an inflammatory bowel condition such as Celiac Disease/Ulcerative Colitis/Irritable Bowel Syndrome/ Crohn’s disease.
The only thing they found was a 2 inch cyst in my kidney, which they said that should not be causing the pain. Kidney stones and such run in my family. I am at the end of my rope, I have no idea what my problem could be. I am always on pain killers, which are a temporarly reprieve at best, I am looking to find out the root cause of my problem. They said my thyriod, is fine, my liver is a "bit" fatty, and everything seems to be ok. I do not want to be in pain anymore!
I was booked into hospital and CT scans were conducted and any signs of kidney stones were ruled out as I have suffered on two occasions with kidney stones over 2 years ago. Also blood work was done and results came back fine. My appetite is normal and sometimes I have the slight runs.

Tests for kidney stones (CT scan, IVP and scope into bladder) were negative, but a few weeks later, I had severe pain and increased blood in my urine. After another week or two, I passed about a 1/4 inch kidney stone (95% Calcium Monohydrate, 5% Calcium Dihydrate). The stone passed about a month ago.

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is useful for diagnosing pancreatic cancer or gallstones if the standard ultrasound or CT or MRI scans fail to detect them.

UTIs, kidney stones, STDs, Ulcerative colitis, Crohns disease are few of them. Mucus in urine can be temporarily caused by severe dehydration. Increase your intake of fluids .If it is persistent in urine you may need to see your doctor and get a clinical examination done. Treatment will depend on the identified cause. Best luck and regards!
Seven years ago I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. It has been a struggle. All the regular medications to control inflamation and symptoms don't work for me. I also began suffering from horrible double-vision migraines that showed up very oddly on an EKG and kidney stones. After I passed a kidney stone the doctor suggested I try eliminating food from my diet- so for about two years I was very strictly gluten free. This all seemed to help- no migraines, no kidney pain and no bloating. Around May 2013 my symptoms began to return despite my very healthy, gluten free diet and regular exercising.
I basically eat healthy and rarely eat greasy food. However, my mom did have diverticulitis and ulcerative colitis for many years with medication. Due to this limited information, what do you think and what would you recommend?
I suggest you talk to your husband’s gastroenterologist and see whether causes such as IBS, Crohn’s celiac disease, ulcerative colitis, food allergies, chronic pancreatitis, gall stones, kidney stones, common bile duct stones etc have been looked into. Another possibility is chronic ischemia or low blood supply to mesentry—tissue that holds the intestine together. Take care!
I'm in the hospital myself for an ulcerative colitis flare, been here since last Thursday and probably won't get out until tomorrow or later. And believe me, I've had several sessions of crying, both tears of joy and fear. It will get better. I'm 17 weeks along at this point.
