Avatar f tn Has she had a CT Scan w/o contrast in regard to the stones? What has it shown? I have an uncommon kidney condition called MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) along with having had out 1/2 my thryoid bcz of nodules that were atpical but my parathyroids were fine and all tests were A-OK that both my Uro and Endo have run inc. a 24hr urine test. Has your daughter had a 24hr urine test? That is important too.
Avatar n tn tiny stones) in my kidneys and have been drinking lots of water and using kidney cleanse supplements. They are helping. I drank lots of caffeine and little water for many years... How are you doing? --J.
Avatar n tn I wonder if acid reflux has anything to do with it. Then again I didn't have acid reflux when I was in high school (the first time I discovered one of these nasty stink balls). It seems to be a mystery, even to doctors that I have asked (most haven't a clue what I'm even talking about).
620923 tn?1452915648 I have all the above EXCEPT kidney stones (at least I have never been told I have stones). I also have high cholesterol.
Avatar f tn I know if I go back to eating lots of produce and greens that and the reflux will stop. I also take milk thistle which helps with nausea and the gall pain. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Still sounds like something with the kidneys. Are you on any medications? Some medications can cause kidney pain, even after you have been on them for a while and have been fine. Some acid reflux meds can do that. Best to be checked out by a Dr. Also examine your lifestyle. You may be abusing yourself with something, food, drugs, alcohol, etc. Everyone has a different tolerance.
Avatar m tn Hi there. I'm so sorry you're having these urinary issues. Hematuria AND bilateral hydronephrosis... Not fun for you. Are you experiencing any flank pain? What type of scan did they perform? What medication(s) are you taking? Do you have any other abnormal symptoms? The reason I ask about what kind of scan was used to make the assessment, is that not all types of stones show up on X-rays.
Avatar n tn She started to have kidney infections at the age of about 4 then they sent me to a specialist and she had reflux number 5 and they could only find one kidney and they gave her the surgery and she has been infection free so far but she has crystals in her urine also but no blood yet and she is 11 years old now.Your daughter doesnt have hearing problems does she?
Avatar f tn I am having my kidney stones removed on Friday by lithotripsy. They are extremely painful, cause scarring and reflux and will continue to damage the kidney until removed. You are NOT a freak, nor were you born one. This problem happens to many, many people and please make sure you're persistent with your own care. As far as things helping, I try to avoid meat and spinach which makes it worse and also drink alot of cranberry juice and water. I really hope this helps !!!!
Avatar n tn Vesicoureteral reflux is an abnormality of the ureteral junction that results in a reflux of urine. This reflux can cause repeated infections of the kidney and the urinary tract as some urine goes back up the ureters, and sometimes to the kidney also. This can be diagnosed on radioimaging studies with a contrast dye. Another factor you need to take into consideration is that your partner may have an infection which does not cause any symptoms in him but causes a severe infection in you.
Avatar f tn Hi Gmccumber0412 It's your friendly urologist here. I often see patients with CT scans done for other reasons such as liver problems, colon, etc, and we "accidentally" see kidney stones. Many of these are small <5mm and nonobstructing, meaning there is no swelling or hydronephrosis in the kidney. Most of these patients do not know that these are present and are surprised to hear that they have kidney stones.
Avatar f tn Pain and discomfort on the lower left side of abdomen can be due to several causes such as Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, adhesions, polycystic ovary in females, IBS, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle. Since you do not have a lump or a tender hot spot, in all probability it is not a muscle. It could also be a periumbilical hernia that has got trapped resulting in small bowel obstruction or mesenteric ischemia.
414347 tn?1294807038 I am not sure if there is but I suffered from a bad vertigo attack in July 07 had ER visits and all kinds of test that were normal and then in Nov 07 started with upset stomach and vomiting and just had my gallbladder out in Jan 08 (no stones). No one has told me that they are related but I wonder?
Avatar f tn kidney pain..well i had no ins and was on a gov. health program and was able to see their doctors and come to find out i have stones in my kidneys that can never be passed nor removed..so labs were done and my calcium was high..sodium high..b12 low..they checked my thyroid and came back fine...so every yr they had me do a 24hr urine collection and labs and every result came back the same as above noted...
Avatar n tn This type of azotemia occurs due to obstruction to renal outflow due to kidney stones, ureter and bladder stones, vesicoureteral reflux, strictures, and any other conditions that result in stasis of urine in the kidney. The cause of the problem will need to be identified and treated and prognosis is good if the derangement of kidney function is corrected early. If untreated for a longer period, the damage resulting in renal impairment can become permanent.
20820864 tn?1522931153 It ranges from nausea to acid-reflux and even kidney or bladder stones. Sometimes different medications and supplements can cause nausea too. Please have a read of my article on this subject, as it might offer you some help ... you will find it at http://www.infobarrel.
Avatar n tn I have a doctors appointment in a month, and the general belief is that I might have urine backing up into my kidney. I have had these symptoms for a while and have been told that I do not have an infection, or a stone. If Urine backing up is the case, what is the general cause, and what would be the treatment / fix.
Avatar f tn t seem to figure out what was causing it, my mom chimed in and MADE them check for kidney stones and lo and behold, that was it!!! So don't let your docs tell you that they're not going to check for kidney stones or that you can't have them just becuase you don't have the "typical" back pain for them. It can and does happen. Blood in the urine can be one of the symptoms of a kidney stone also, but again, does not have to happen.
533880 tn?1237612452 mostly on the right side and the pain will go under my rib cage...i dont have a kidney infection, no pain when i go to the restroom, no fever, and there is not pressure...i have had stones before but have not passed any in about 2 years....went for an ultrasound and was told i have a swollen ureter and it is infected...how is it that a urine test did not pick it up and what is causing it?
Avatar n tn I had a stone that blocked my kidney and even after blasting would not come out without being scooped out. This was in my left kidney. Kidneys were both checked out thoroughly for damage and other stones - neither of which was found. Questions are...Since it has been two months and I haven't passed any stones are they likely to just stay put? If the larger one gets stuck after I have my surgery will they be able to go in and get it out without cutting me or screwing up the TVT?
Avatar f tn Are there any tests that can be run to give us a definitive diagnosis? We both suffer back and flank pain that comes and goes and many times I have a hard time urinating with very little output. Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn I wonder if anybody else has experienced diarrhea with kidney stones? I have had upwards of 40 kidney stones in the past four years but somehow still have no answers as to why my body is producing these or how to relieve them. And i never fail to turn up new symptoms or troubles. I have been having dark urine and a lot of kidney pain lately and I'm sure I have another stone working its way out of my kidney...
Avatar f tn How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger? Are these stones causing damage to my kidneys? They don’t seem to be causing any blockages based on the ultrasounds that have been done, but I still have had frequent flank pain and blood visible in my urine prior to the surgery. Is there any hope that I will be able to be stone free and prevent more stones?
Avatar m tn m 19 years old and I have been having intense pain in my kidney area on both sides for about 4 months, and I have been to 2 urologists. While they have diagnosed me with kidney stones and they said that I have a couple of small stones in each kidney, but they are not blocking anything so they are not the cause of my pain. I have also been to a physical therapist who said it is not musculoskeletal. I have also been having hematuria for at least 2 months.
Avatar m tn Has anyone here with kidney stones tried vitamin B6 and magnesium to prevent new stones from forming? I read a study that concluded that taking 50 mg of B6 daily with 300 mg of magnesium oxide (one of the least absorbable forms of magnesium) will prevent future kidney stones. I also read that potassium and B6 does the same. Perhaps the magnesium works because potassium is better absorbed if there is sufficient magnesium.
Avatar m tn kidney stones can be very recurring and can start very young, although ive never heard of someone getting them in their early teens.. usually early 20s, but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen earlier. it sounds like you will have to sit in some pain until you get insurance again. you can try to seek out clinics, but theyre not very good at helping. get your insurance back and go to a dr, because if you have them so often, you might have something else going on.
Avatar f tn Thx for your response I have passed one of the stones in the hospital a few days ago still have another in my right ureter and a 7mm in my right kidney and several small stones 35 wks pg now and they are going to induce me in two weeks due to the kidney stones causing contractions and wanting me to have lithotripsy after her birth. I was told I wouldn't be able to pass the 7mm stone without intervention what are my chances with that they said its in the middle of the kidney.
